Our family s experience with Embark Behavioral Health's Intensive Outpatient Program for teen therapy has been nothing short of exceptional. The therapists are truly outstanding compassionate, knowledgeable, and deeply committed to their work. From the moment we walked in, we were met with a welcoming environment that immediately put us at ease.One of the highlights of our time at Embark was the group therapy sessions. The opportunity for our teen to partner with other teens who are navigating similar challenges has been incredibly therapeutic and validating. What sets Embark apart is their comprehensive approach to therapy, involving both parents and children in the process. This inclusive strategy has been pivotal for our family s healing journey.The use of their CASA (Commitment, Acceptance, Security and Attunement) model is remarkable. Embark's new team and management is friendly and knowledgable. The facility is modern, clean, bright, safe, and welcoming. My tour of the facility and conversation with the new clinical director was thorough and detailed. As a counseling student, I would be happy to work there. Levels of Care

Intensive Outpatient

Clients receiving care in an intensive outpatient program (IOP) engage in a minimum of nine hours of treatment per week on average. However, many intensive outpatient rehabs offer up to 20 therapeutic hours weekly. IOP services are ideal for those in early recovery or who are at an elevated risk of relapse. IOP may be chosen in lieu of inpatient rehab. Treatment modalities typically include psychotherapy, life skills training, medication assisted treatment (MAT), and holistic care.

Partial Hospitalization Program

For those that don't require round-the-clock care, a partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term option that can be used as a step-down treatment or as an alternative to intensive hospitalization. PHP treatment requires up to 5 days a week of commitment where you'll receive 6 to 8 hours of support every day. While a partial hospitalization program typically requires a commute, telehealth may be available. PHP treatment costs can vary but are often covered by most insurance.

Treatments

Colorado offers dual-diagnosis addiction treatment programs that encompass various levels of care to meet your individual needs, including medical detox, outpatient, inpatient, and partial hospitalization programs for individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. These dual-diagnosis rehab programs incorporate evidence-based therapies such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) or dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) to successfully address substance use disorders and co-occurring diagnoses.

With residential addiction treatment, you live in a rehab facility while receiving mental health services. Rehabs offer 24/7 care provided by clinical and mental health staff. A typical inpatient program lasts 28-30 days, but some last for several months. Standard mental health services include group and individual counseling, with addiction and relapse prevention education. Amenities, like recreational offerings, vary by facility.

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Embark is the second PHP and IOP program my daughter went to. The staff was very engaged and work with the entire family to make sure my daughter's safety and mental health needs were addressed. I would recommend Embark to anyone struggling with mental issues.

I am very grateful for Embark behavioral health. Our family member was admitted for a severe mood disorder and the entire staff was great in helping. The experience felt like a team effort, rather than simply dropping my family member off to be treated, which has been our past experience with other places. We attended under the leadership of the new team. They were amazing. This is the best therapeutic experience we have ever had. After other places, my child would say that she didn’t understand why she had made so much growth and I hadn’t. When attending Embark in Greenwood Village, we had family therapy sessions, where we learned all of the same skills and can now apply them for the growth of ourselves and our family. We would not recommend their IOP based on our experience. Our child was in their program for about 3 weeks before we pulled her after encountering one too many issues with processes, her therapist, and methods. - Billing is HORRID! Worst experience I’ve ever had with medical billing. After almost 6 months they still are submitting and resubmitting claims, always one problem after another. We were also required to pay a deposit, which is due back to us in full, but they will not release it until all claims are finalized. So why rush? - medications: med management can be helpful, but when recommendations are made based on discussions with a child (with behavioral/emotional issues who likely is not invested in their treatment), mistakes can be made and unnecessary meds recommended. - Gender Identity: if the patient has gender dysphoria this becomes the primary focus, above the deep rooted, long standing issues/struggles that they were referred for. They are not gender specialists, nor is that what the IOP is geared towards. We saw a highly respected gender specialist who was appalled at the things they said and did and stated their methods were completely out of line and would have caused more harm had we continued. For us, Embark did more harm than good in just the short time we were there.

We are very sorry to hear about your described negative experience; something unacceptable under Embark’s standards. The therapists do seem to genuinely care and overall the program was ok for my daughter. However, there were some potential downsides that I do think other parents considering the care for their children should know: 1. They encourage gender identity discussions. 2. Billing is confusing, unorganized and it's a very expensive program. 3. They strongly encourage the assistance of medication as part of the treatment plan. Hindsight, if I knew some of these issues, I may not have enrolled my child into the program. Overall, I think she's coming out ahead because of the assistance offered from the program - but I am still struggling with these 3 issues even though she has graduated the program. It's also a huge time commitment. I'm not listing that as a potential downside, as the mental health of my child was worth the time investment. Each family and circumstance is different, that was just our experience and my opinion.
