Awesome team work heart tower. My sister had reconstructive surgery and the team for ICU room 813 on August 25-26 was awesome. So caring and met her every need. The staff even checked on me. I can't remember all of their names so I put the dates and ICU room #. Emily and Nadia are the BEST. Thank you again for taking such good care of her.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient rehab enables clients to receive addiction treatment while continuing to work and reside at home. Many programs offer evening, night, and weekend services so that clients may receive treatment on their own schedule. Outpatient treatment modalities typically include addiction counseling, recovery-focused life skills training, and/or medication assisted treatment (MAT). Many programs also provide step-down care, including partial hospitalization (PHP), intensive outpatient (IOP), and standard outpatient services, to align with clients' evolving needs.

inpatient iconInpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Clients enrolled in an intensive outpatient program (IOP) travel to treatment centers for specialized care multiple times per week. Intensive outpatient treatment allows clients to receive robust care while continuing to live at home. Most programs require between nine and 20 treatment hours per week, with the frequency and intensive of sessions decreasing as clients stabilize. Services generally include a combination of addiction counseling, medication assisted treatment (MAT), recovery-focused life skills training, and holistic therapies.

heart-hands iconIntervention Services

A drug intervention in Georgia is designed to encourage an individual to get the treatment they need. This effort aims to break through resistance and motivate the individual to get help. The process typically involves loved ones sharing their concerns with the individual and how their substance use has affected those who care about them. A professional interventionist can help guide this conversation and explain from the clinical side how treatment can be beneficial.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

During rehab in Georgia, you may engage in motivational interviewing. This typically lasts one to two sessions and is designed to address any ambivalence you have toward change. It helps you explore your current situation and motivations and commit to making changes for the future.

In trauma therapy, you address the emotional and psychological effects of traumatic events in your life. Your therapist provides you with the tools you need to process those memories and reduce the symptoms. This helps improve your overall mental health and functioning.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Many life skills involve coping with emotions and stress. Others involve completing tasks that allow you to live independently. Examples include finding a job, managing finances, and nutrition. During rehab in Georgia, you'll work on any skills that are lacking to ensure you have the tools for success post treatment.

Nutrition therapy has short term and long term goals. In the short term, it helps restore your health so you can recover from the physical effects of addiction. Long term, it helps you understand overall health and nutrition to set you up for a healthy lifestyle in recovery.

By incorporating recreational therapy into an addiction treatment program in Georgia, you learn to discover new interests and develop health and healthy coping mechanisms. Activities could include painting, group sports, or yoga. These encourage social interaction and support your physical fitness, which are vital factors in a successful recovery journey.

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is a way of getting nicotine into the bloodstream without smoking. It uses products that supply low doses of nicotine to help people stop smoking. The goal of therapy is to cut down on cravings for nicotine and ease the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

I agree with Karen Shaw’s review. There are some good trauma doctors and the physical therapy department was good. But the nursing staff/tech staff are awful. I would never leave a loved one by themselves at this hospital. You can ring the nurses button and you could have a loved one go down to the nurses station, and it may be three hours before somebody will walk into the room to see what the need is. A doctor might order a breathing treatment and tell you they will be in within 30 minutes. But six hours later they walk in. And the patient was supposed to have two within eight hours. Even one of the housekeeping attendance, who, by the way was excellent, said of the nurses lazy, lazy lazy. Next time I would try Piedmont to see how that is.

I've met some fantastic doctors, some are at this hospital, including Dr. Roe and his neurosurgical team. And I've noticed there has been some positive changes in how patients are treated there, however, this hospital still is lacking in empathy and understanding that people walking in the er are actually asking for help. I've been dealing with months, close to a year now of having lab work that is always slightly off, but nobody is raising the alarm bells except me. Came into er a few nights ago, because I was eating dinner, sitting relaxing, watching TV, and got hit in the head with a massive headache. It felt like my ears were clapped. Heart started pounding, and felt like I was going down. I assumed it was a migraine at first... I rarely get them, but started trying at home care to relieve it. It quickly became into a serious and very scary thing, and I called 911. Heart rate was 160+, blood pressure was extremely high, muscles spamming all over my body, and I was rushed to the hospital. Put in the waiting room, but quickly taken to the urgent/non emergency side, put in a bed in front of nurses station. Six hours of test after test. Lots of nice folks trying to help. But, nurses didnt even bother to turn around when you tried to get their attention, and after six hours, 2 hours after last test, I asked status. Nurse said that the results were in and waiting for doctor to review. Another hour and a half... and no, Im not exaggerating, I ask again... the nurse said the doctor was on the other side of the wall and will be right with me. Another hour... and finally the doctor. She meandered over, started reading my test results... which again, didnt set off any alarm bells off, but mentioned she had just been assigned, hadn't really looked at anything yet... and spent a good deal of the time dismissing years of medical struggling. She was actually impressed with my ability to endure and problem solve my own medical problems, not realizing it is because I haven't had a whole lot of choice or help over the years. She even was impressed that I've lost 140lbs in 2 years, and have just learned to keep putting one foot in front of the other, instead of noticing that Im describing that I was pissing and crapping myself trying. She said she should join my exercise ruitine to loose weight. Like really???? This aint a petting zoo, and we dont show up there like this is what we want to do with our day, while being dismissed yet again. Then have the nerve to be surprised that someone who tells you they are on the spectrum, having a whole host of issues that point to comorbid issues linked to neurodivergency, gets upset after waiting for six hours to get answers about a very scary, very isolating, very alone, health issue, that nobody is taking serious... because its not them enduring them. And then I walk out... why... because this hasn't been the first time, or the second.... or the 20th, or the 100th time I've been treated like that that. There is a problem when your patients no longer have faith that they are actually going to get the help they need. There is a problem when you assume that a patient is getting hysterical because they are mentally ill, instead of realizing they need help. And lord knows, stop telling people on disability, that... oh you got medical insurance, so you have better access to medical care. NO WE DON'T!! Instead, we get limited care. We wait months and years for doctors to open slots to see us, because they limit how many Medicare patients because it doesnt pay enough for them to care. Sorry for getting emotional on ya.... and making you think that was the problem....let me roll my eyes. Just because Im neurodivergent, and get emotional, because Im tired of nobody taking my health concerns even remotely seriously enough to actually help. Some people call it a high sense of justice, pda, and a few other associated struggles of neuro spicy character traits. I call it a reaction to a level of human depravity that is infecting our medical infrastructure, while nobody notices we need help.

I went to Atrium Health for a severe anaphylactic reaction and nearly lost my life due to their actions. I was given an overdose of medication that caused psychosis, delirium, and severe physical distress. Care was substandard, physicians were arrogant, and concerns were dismissed with excuses instead of accountability. Worst of all, I experienced physical abuse while under their care — something no patient should ever endure. Instead of safety and compassion, I was met with negligence, humiliation, and danger. This was not an isolated mistake; it was a complete breakdown of patient care. I left physically and emotionally scarred. If you value your life and dignity, think twice before trusting this facility.

The Worst Hospital & Doctors I’ve Ever Encountered. Total incompetence and they tried their hardest to ruin my life. ** Dr. Christie, Jason Gardiner, and Eric Long** See my google review by googling “Dudley Christie Macon” before having surgery with him. I never had any health issues before this. The last two doctors sent me home from the ER after telling me my appendix was just “elongated.” Eric Long couldn’t even interpret my ct scan properly that an Emory educated radiologist had already looked at while at Piedmont hospital. The radiologist said my appendix needs to come out because on the scan it clearly showed a very elongated inflamed appendix. Dr. Gardiner and his colleague Eric Long shrugged it off as Eric Long and his incompetent residents laughed while telling me I was probably “just born that way” with a long appendix. Because of their failure to act and help me in the beginning, I lived with an undiagnosed mucin leakage for years. My entire abdomen became constantly swollen, pressurized with a damaged lymphatic system, which all led to also having abdominophrenic dysnergia. That “elongated” appendix was actually damaged and leaking mucin, a substance that should never be outside the appendix. The mucin caused severe inflammation and constant debilitating swelling. My lymphatic system became overloaded and fluid couldn’t drain, while pressure built up everywhere in my abdomen. My fascia started to freeze and trap interstitual fluid. By the time I had gone back to the emergency room four days later, my appendix had already sealed itself scarred shut so there was no evidence of it now. I had to chase a diagnosis I already should have had that night. I now live with chronic inflammation, fluid buildup in my fascia from the immune system reacting to the mucin that stayed in me entirely too long, permanently altering my body. I have stayed bloated, tight, and in pain for years. Eventually, my gallbladder failed because bile couldn’t flow properly in that locked, inflamed environment and I ended up having to remove my gallbladder and undergo two completely unnecessary surgeries; a hysterectomy and another stomach surgery, where finally years later the original appendix mucin issue was caught. No one caught the real problem in time. All of this could have been prevented if he had simply read the scan correctly. He should have taken me seriously and performed the appendectomy that night at the ER that was already suggested to them by the radiologist. Instead, he dismissed me with condescending guesses and let a dangerous condition spiral out of control. If all of this was not bad enough, Eric Long decided to falsify an AMA the next day after I was there and added it to my chart to cover himself. Had he come to me wanting me to sign an AMA while I was in the ER, I would have asked why since he told me I was fine to go home and I would have demanded exploratory surgery. This isn’t just bad medicine, this is outright negligence. They shouldn’t be practicing. Period. I’ve lost years of my life because they didn’t do their jobs. It is complete deliberate disregard. Patients should not have to suffer or lose their lives because of willful medical dismissal and diagnostic failure. *Look up their lawsuits- they are public record.

Trauma Doctors and some professionals were helpful and excellent PT and OT. Overall my husband was ignored most of his first night in the ER. No ICU room was ever available for the 24 hours he was supposed to be observed. No hygiene offered, poor cleaning standards and changing of sheets, inept lab techs, rude front desk people and hard to get needed help. Our family never let him spend a night alone. We were in a wing that looked like an original 1950's room. Just a terrible experience!! We were SO excited to leave and get back to Atlanta and better medical care.

Absolutely insane. This place should be closed down. The nursing staff in the emergency room is absolute trash and don’t even get me started about the girl behind the glass that takes you in with a mask on who can’t hear or speak loud enough for you to hear what she’s saying This hospital should absolutely be closed I don’t even know where to go forget about me with the stage three heart failure with the chest pain who’s been in the waiting area for three hours Let’s talk about the lady throwing up blood into a blood bag in the waiting room, touching three and four chairs at a time as she gets up and leaves her blanket behind and no one comes and cleans it. We tell five people before it gets done an hour and a half later. Absolutely insane. This place should be closed down should be condemned.

It does take a while to see a Dr at the ER but, that's normal. Excluding the ER I've been in & out of here over the years and I can't recall any issues that may have been cause for concern. Went to have blood work done about a month ago. It took 20 - 30 minutes. The receptionist was very nice and helpful. I use the pharmacy also. The staff are courteous and respectful. They stay pretty busy but, they fill my meds in about 10 minutes.
