About Recreate Life Counseling

Recreate Life Counseling is a drug rehab center located in Boynton Beach, Florida. They provide a variety of addiction treatment options including residential treatment, a partial care program, intensive outpatient therapy and an outpatient rehab center. One thing that stands out to me is that they also offer telehealth and virtual options for treatment to ensure you will have access to care no matter your situation.

Their treatment programs focus on addressing mental health and substance use issues. If you need residential treatment, you can get set up with that first and then step down throughout the rest of the program and their services. They offer traditional therapy approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy and trauma therapy. However, they have additional specialty services, which is something that really stands out to me. They offer adventure therapy, massage therapy, and yoga.

If you are wanting to engage in a program that encompasses the whole person and treats you as an individual, this facility could be the place for you. They have a therapeutic approach and will help you get the treatment you need.

I attended ReCreate in October 2024 at one of the lowest points in my life. While the direct care staff was exceptional, the leadership, clinical oversight, and medication management left much to be desired.Strengths: Dedicated Staff & Supportive AtmosphereThe group facilitators and BHTs work tirelessly, offering genuine support and understanding. They see you, they care, and they make a real impact. On a staff level, ReCreate fosters a strong sense of community and healing. The turnover rate is high due to the effortful but unrecognized work the BHT s do. The Directors of Alumni are incredible people who will provide and inspire so much change.Concerns: Management & Clinical FailuresHowever, issues at the administrative and clinical levels overshadowed my experience: Unaddressed misconduct Male staff members made inappropriate comments about my personal life and marriage, yet no immediate action was taken by Director of Operations, Melissa Manzone. Medication mismanagement Over my five-week stay, my medication was inconsistently provided, leading to withdrawal symptoms. At one point, I was prescribed two SSRIs at once, triggering severe side effects, including panic attacks, dizziness, tunnel vision, and catatonia. Therapist misconduct My primary therapist, Katie, dismissed my symptoms, cursed at me, and accused me of faking my condition to extend my stay. Instead of advocating for my health, she belittled me, argued with me for hours which caused a disruption to group scheduling, and used my past trauma against me in a way that was both unethical and deeply harmful. Many staff members and clients witnessed or heard about her behavior and were outraged, yet no corrective action was taken. After being told by Katie, that she was the only person who would treat me like an adult and hold me to degree I deserved, I blamed myself. I cried, apologized, and wrote her a letter, thanking her. I fawned, and if I could go back I would have stood up for myself. After having seen a therapist following ReCreate, she helped open my eyes to the abuse of power, unprofessionalism, and misconduct. My therapist and I have worked together to remove my self blame and instead advocate for myself. After fighting for a one-week extension to stabilize my medication, and having gone to the ER, I was ultimately approved proving my concerns were valid.ReCreate excels in substance recovery and is staffed with many incredible individuals who truly care. However, for those seeking mental health treatment, the lack of clinical oversight, poor medication management, and leadership failures, should give pause to those seeking treatment.I share this not out of resentment, but as a cautionary reflection because mental health care should never leave patients feeling unheard, mistreated, or unsafe.

Accepted Insurance

Recreate Life Counseling works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient rehabs encompass multiple levels of care to facilitate clients' progress through their recovery journey. Clients who are stepping down from inpatient treatment may require intensive outpatient (IOP) treatment, which involves more frequent and substantive therapeutic interventions than does standard outpatient care. Outpatient centers typically provide extensive addiction counseling, including individual, group, and family therapy. Medication assisted treatment programs (MAT) and recovery-focused life skills training are also common in outpatient care.
inpatient iconInpatient
Clients typically choose inpatient rehab when they are in early recovery or are experiencing a crisis that puts them at an increased risk of relapse. They reside at the treatment center for the length of their program, which may range from two weeks to more than 18 months, depending on the program design. Intensive psychotherapy is often the primary treatment modality, but clients in inpatient care may also receive holistic treatment and recovery-focused life skills training.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Rehab aftercare programs are a collection of highly individualized services designed to promote long-term recovery. These services evolve as your needs change. Case managers and recovery teams typically begin formulating the rehab aftercare service plan early in the recovery process to facilitate your reintegration back into the home, workplace, and community.
12-step icon12-Step
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).
sober-living iconSober Living Homes
Sober Living Houses (SLHs), aka sober homes or halfway houses, are safe, substance-free, supportive living facilities for those recovering from substance abuse. Ideal for those who've just been through inpatient or outpatient treatment, SLHs are supervised environments with rules that support sobriety, such as curfews, shared chores, and therapeutic meetings. Residents are also often trained on life skills and coping skills to make it easier to transition into society. SLHs also provide a strong sense of community that can lead to the kind of deep and lasting connections with other sober individuals that supports a new, healthy lifestyle.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
Intervention services helps family or friends of addicts stage an intervention, which is a meeting in which loved ones share their concerns and attempt to get an addict into treatment. Professional intervention specialists can help loved ones organize, gather, and communicate with an addict. They can guide intervention participants in describing the damage the addict's behavior is causing and that outside help is necessary to address the addiction. The ideal outcome of an intervention is for the addict to go to rehab and get the help they need.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
Often referred to as "day treatment," a partial hospitalization program (PHP) offers an intensive treatment option that allows individuals to return home at night. PHP treatment typically requires a minimum of 20 hours a week for an average of 90 days. Participants attend daily therapeutic sessions, receive medication management, and have access to skilled medical professionals. While costs can vary, most insurance will fully or partially cover a partial hospitalization program.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
24-hour clinical care in Florida is an essential part of treatment, particularly with medical detox. Withdrawal symptoms can be severe, and supervised detox provides around the clock access to medical professionals who can adminsiter proper medications and treatment to address these symptoms and step in should an emergency occur. This intensive clinical care will help curb the withdrawal effects, minimize substance dependence, and prepare you for the next step of treatment.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
The first step of the recovery process involves the removal of all drugs and alcohol from your system while under 24/7 medical supervision. Known as a medically assisted detox, you are closely monitored by medical staff who can provide medications, if necessary, to help alleviate any potential withdrawal symptoms. Medical detox is usually followed by a period of inpatient addiction treatment.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Florida provides quality treatment to help individuals overcome dependency related to a wide range of addictive substances. Programs address both the physical and mental aspects of addiction in order to help you make a full recovery.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

equine-therapy iconEquine Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

EMDR is a therapeutic modality originally developed to help process trauma. In an EMDR session, a patient is prompted to undergo eye movements that mimic those of REM sleep. This is accomplished by watching a therapist's finger move back and forth across, or following a bar of light. The goal is repetitive sets of eye movements that help the brain reprocess memory, which can significantly reduce the intensity of remembered traumatic incidents. Associated memories can heal simultaneously, leaving patients significantly calmer, more stable, and more emotionally relaxed.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Creativity is inherently healing, and can help those in recovery express thoughts or feelings they might not otherwise be able to. Creative arts therapy can include music, poetry/writing, painting, sculpting, dance, theater, sandplay, and more. Unlike traditional art, the final product matters far less than the experience of creation and expression itself.

Recreational therapy helps you recover from addiction by giving you structured activities that promote your physical health and mental well being. These activities could range from sports and fitness to creative arts and provide a constructive outlet for your emotions and stress.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Specifically to Katie ,Brooke, Rigel and my main man Peter. I can't say enough good things about the techs Morris ,Kai ,Shanika, Lamar and of course I can't forget Miss Tamika and Dean. Dear Recreate and people interested in getting clean and sober: Recreate could not have been a better or greater experience, and will always and forever have a place in my heart and mind. It will, for as long as I live be a fond fond memory.. for the quality experience, for the comfort and fun had, for the many caring individuals I met there. I couldn’t have been at a better place or surrounded by better people! Staff and clients alike! They were all so welcoming and ready to cheer you up should your day be a tiny bit off. The techs were everything they could be and more..compassionate, great at listening, real and personable, know what they talk of.. and are well informed regarding notes in the computer system.. but above all they are nice, and private and professional. A great plus..is that..probably about 97 or 98% of the staff.. have been where we were or are..and know the ropes and what is is all like and all about. All of them were chock-a-block full of good wisdom and advice should you want or need it. The other therapists were absolutely great, and my therapist, Katie.. was wonderful.. quite intuitive and ready to be flexible.. she’s kind and an A-1 listener too! Listening well and then asking crucially accurate questions, ones that are quite revelatory and at just the right strength of thinking. They are very careful to do your paperwork properly too..as some places don’t, and just rush through it. They take the time to get it right. They are great at accommodating you and your needs.. especially should you have forgotten something or don’t even have it in the first place. I wouldn’t have gotten sober at any place mimicking the greatness of this place.. only here. I feel safe here and unfortunately cannot return unless on the other side of matters. The place is, also, as far as I can see.. without a blemish of corruption like you may get elsewhere. The group facilitators are well qualified, Lindsay in particular, and are interesting, fascinating and actually care.. rarely did I find any reason to be bored or tired. My medical concerns were addressed promptly, with all care, and accurately. Eleycia, case manager.. was very knowledgeable and helpful. The alumni coordinators are so nice and know what they are talking about when it comes to meeting the real world again. They keep in great touch. Their alumni is so great and clean and the only alumni I’d ever want to be part of. I got such an education here and a residency beyond all I could have asked! Do yourself a favor and if you are struggling, give recreate a call! It was a blessing of blessings!! Thank you all so much surpassing any ability of mine to vocalize it! Recreate is that place!! Few other places are worthy of as much of your respect, and respecting of you as-well. I will miss all of you so intensely.. keep being you and what you are! You are actually helping people and actually care.. thank you all ever so much!!!! Thanks and blessings, Rico.

Recreate life counseling has been a life changing experience for me, the staff has created a personal connection with clients that past just collecting a paycheck. They genuinely make sure every client has what they need and will go out of there way to make sure there needs are met. The groups and therapist thoroughly make treatment that fit each clients needs to ensure Authentic and genuine results. Night staff like Jacob and Carissa and especially jasmine go about and beyond to make sure we’re comfortable and content. Thank you recreate for changing my life
