About Royal Life Center – Swinton Avenue

Located in Delray Beach, Florida, Royal Life Center provides drug and alcohol treatment to individuals seeking sobriety in the area. Their levels of care are pretty extensive, spanning from detox treatment to inpatient care and multiple outpatient programs.

They offer intensive outpatient treatment and standard outpatient care, as well as aftercare support to keep you sober and away from any chance of relapse once the program has finished. They provide services to individuals 18 and over and offer gender-specific rehabs for men and women.

What to Expect at Treatment

When it comes to the feedback they’ve received, it has been mostly positive. One person noted, “I went through Royal Detox three years ago and haven’t had a reason to drink or drug since leaving. Thanks to the caring staff, my life is finally back on track.” They also accept insurance through a variety of providers.

Amenities and Alternative Therapies

What really stood out to me were the amenities and physical features that this facility offers. They provide more creative outlets such as art therapy and a music room that provides music therapy. You also get your own private rooms for your best comfort and privacy.

Fun in the Sun

Some of the treatment modalities they offer include cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, trauma counseling, and 12-step facilitation. You can also find access to local attractions and landmarks such as Old School Square, which offers art exhibits, performances, and several community events throughout the year.

Delray Beach, of course, is a beautiful beach that provides the right serene environment to help you relax and reflect while you’re receiving treatment. There’s also the popular Atlantic Avenue, a vibrant area with shops, restaurants, and different galleries that offer the opportunity for you to engage socially with others and engage in leisurely activities that don’t involve drugs or alcohol.

Just another government run facility that's understaffed and over crowded. I'd only use this place as a LAST RESORT. If you have the option to go somewhere better do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. I wonder where all this government money is getting spent (whoevers running it probably has a pretty decent paycheck if I had to guess) because it's definitely not getting used to give patients and staff proper needs as humans. When you walk in the entrance looks beautiful but when you go back it's pretty dingy and they don't have enough bedding or clothes for people in detox. Probably shouldn't take in more patients when you don't have enough staff and basic hygiene for them. Thankfully I wasn't court ordered and had the ability to leave before I left detox and went into inpatient. I can only imagine what it was like over there and happy I didn't have to find out. The doctor is a joke and kind of an asshole. Shout out to the select staff members that truly care like Theresa and David (didn't get any other names in my time there) that are trying their best to accommodate with what they have.

Horrible place.. The facility is worse there than out in the streets..My brother in law was treated like an addict. HE WAS NEVER ONE.. Administrative personnel are horrible people. I don't know who is running that circus but it needs investigation SERIOUSLY! Poop on the walls. Mistreated by others..They wake up late and the person gets 30 days extra because of over sleeping. Girls walking around like it's a trap house. Personnel strip them from all their needs.. Someone needs to go under cover and see the truth. Those beds are getting government paid. The people no matter the circumstances they're in or come from should be treated like human beings with care and patients. The director isn't any better! Beds are her priority to fill up the beds for payment!

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Clients typically choose inpatient rehab when they are in early recovery or are experiencing a crisis that puts them at an increased risk of relapse. They reside at the treatment center for the length of their program, which may range from two weeks to more than 18 months, depending on the program design. Intensive psychotherapy is often the primary treatment modality, but clients in inpatient care may also receive holistic treatment and recovery-focused life skills training.

Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.

Rehab aftercare programs are a collection of highly individualized services designed to promote long-term recovery. These services evolve as your needs change. Case managers and recovery teams typically begin formulating the rehab aftercare service plan early in the recovery process to facilitate your reintegration back into the home, workplace, and community.

12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).

Sober Living Houses (SLHs), aka sober homes or halfway houses, are safe, substance-free, supportive living facilities for those recovering from substance abuse. Ideal for those who've just been through inpatient or outpatient treatment, SLHs are supervised environments with rules that support sobriety, such as curfews, shared chores, and therapeutic meetings. Residents are also often trained on life skills and coping skills to make it easier to transition into society. SLHs also provide a strong sense of community that can lead to the kind of deep and lasting connections with other sober individuals that supports a new, healthy lifestyle.

At certain points in the recovery process, it's important to have support available 24/7. 24-hour clinical care offers a safe environment in which to recover from drug or alcohol addiction in peace, knowing medical detox and other treatment will happen with professionals on hand.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Florida provides quality treatment to help individuals overcome dependency related to a wide range of addictive substances. Programs address both the physical and mental aspects of addiction in order to help you make a full recovery.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Equine therapy, aka equine-assisted therapy (EAT), is a form of experiential therapy that involves interactions and activities with horses. It does not necessarily involve riding horses, but all activities related to horses, such as feeding, grooming, haltering and leading them. A mental health professional frequently oversees the activities (often in conjunction with a horse professional), and helps patients process their thoughts, feelings, and behavior patterns during and/or after the interaction.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Creativity is inherently healing, and can help those in recovery express thoughts or feelings they might not otherwise be able to. Creative arts therapy can include music, poetry/writing, painting, sculpting, dance, theater, sandplay, and more. Unlike traditional art, the final product matters far less than the experience of creation and expression itself.
