Accepted Insurance

Saint Michael’s Medical Center – Outpatient Behavioral Health Services works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield
Qualcare

Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
12-step icon12-Step
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in New Jersey is the process of addressing the complex issues involved with addiction. Challenges are identified and addressed through individual and group counseling. Participants learn how to manage these issues without the use of substances.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

They Literally didn’t do anything. I sat in there for over 2 hours and only got my vitals taken 3 different times by 3 different people. Piss in the cup just sat there, someone told me they’d come to draw blood but never did! And to have the AUDACITY to update MyChart with this crap is ABSURD!!: “Nurse Nicole M at 6/6/2025 5:24 PM RN went to pt's room to reassess and pt was not in room, nor is pt in bathroom or hallway. Pt is AAOx4, stable, and had a family member with her. Pt did not have IV inserted. Pt not a danger to herself or others.” How tf would ANYONE know what danger I pose to others 🗣️ if NOOO ONE Checked On Me?!?! And to have 2 DOCTORS (Treatment Team-You were seen by: Larry A Wolk, MD, Barry J Benzing, PA) LIE and said they saw me andand treated me That Never Saw Me, Sign Off on This Crap, clearly shows the incompetence of this hospital and the blatant fact that they just sign off on anything presented to them just to close case files! Now why would ANY facility allow a patient who comes in and presents as such: ED Triage Note Nurse Nicole C at 6/6/2025 2:57 PM Patient presents with dizziness, weakness and faigue for the past 3 weeks To leave in the same manner?! And to add insult to injury, they turn the option to respond to the notes in MyChart OFF, nor can I leave a review…hence the review left here! I am BEYOND UPSET and left with having to seek help all the way in Englewood or Coopermans in Livingston-Smfh! Ppl shouldn’t be treated as such because of the demographic! P.S. IT WASN’T EVEN CROWDED!!!

Dr. Dennis Laird of the ER was extremely rude, condescending, dismissive and gave an incorrect diagnosis nor prescribed any medication for the severe pain that I experienced. I will be filing a claim against him with the medical board as well as a malpractice claim.

One of those worst ER experiences I’ve ever had. On the night of Jan 11th, 2024- I came to the ER because I suddenly lost function of my vocal cords and wasn’t able to swallow. Scared me to death. The ER doctor was EXTREMELY dismissive and rude. She gaslighted me and verbatim said it was just anxiety and that I could swallow and talk (when I OBVIOSULY could not). They didn’t do anything for me besides look in my mouth and gave me a Benedryl tablet. The next day I found a specialist and they confirmed that a virus had attacked my vagus nerve causing paralysis and nerve damage. Took me 8 months to recover- couldn’t work or barely move due to the nerve damage. NEVER GO HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Went to this hospital through the Emergency room and they’re actually trash. Rude nurses, talking to each other and not paying attention the the patients . Had me do a test and left me with the sample for over an hour, didn’t come back for it and so I left.

Response from the ownerInvalid relative date format:
We’re truly sorry to hear about your experience in our Emergency Department. This is not the level of care we aim to provide. Your feedback is being taken seriously and will be shared with the appropriate team to ensure it’s addressed. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

Just had me sit on the waiting room for 4 hours and handed me discharge papers after a pain killer…. I went a different Emergency Room found out I had. Ruptured cyst!
