About Ascent Behavioral Health

Ascent Behavioral Health, an addiction and mental health treatment center in Meridian, Idaho, has been proudly serving clients for more than 20 years. They treat individuals who are 18 years of age and older. Their commitment to their clients extends to a full continuum of outpatient care that treats not only drug and alcohol addictions but co-occurring mental health conditions, as well.

As payment for treatment, they accept Idaho State Funding and almost any insurance provider you may have, including Medicaid.

Their levels of care are at the outpatient level but they do offer intensive outpatient care which demands a bit more from patients such as more hours involved in therapy. Some of their more affordable programs, however, provide this kind of treatment for as low as $500 a month.

They have highly trained and experienced clinicians but the environment seems to be a bit on the more professional, office-setting side of things. If you prefer a cozier, home-like setting, this clinic doesn’t seem to offer that sort of atmosphere.

They offer drug and alcohol evaluations, case management, medication management, psychiatric evaluations, individual therapy, group therapy, and telehealth services. Individual therapy can be a great tool for those seeking to dig into the trauma of their past and face many issues that might be causing them to continue with negative patterns.

They offer medication assisted treatment for those seeking to detox in a safer and more comfortable way. You can also receive in-house drug testing and have access to sober recreational activities, all while being in close proximity to public transportation.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Clients requiring treatment in an inpatient rehab are often those who need stabilization support as they exit detox or contend with a life crisis. Residing at the treatment facility enables clients to focus exclusively on their recovery. They engage in extensive psychotherapy and recovery-focused life skills training to support their sustained sobriety and prepare them for outpatient and community-based care. Evidence-based holistic therapies, such as experiential therapy and meditation, are also commonly available.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Clients participating in a rehab aftercare program receive a variety of services designed to support their sustained sobriety and successful reintegration into their home, workplace, and community. Rehab aftercare services may include formal outpatient care, such as addiction counseling and recovery education provided in an outpatient treatment center. They may also include community-based services, including 12 step program induction, peer coaching, and vocational training. These programs are typically designed in partnership with the client's case manager.
sober-living iconSober Living Homes
A sober living home in Idaho is a residence where individuals in recovery stay until they feel ready to live on their own. These drug-free environments can help individuals transition from inpatient rehab to day-to-day life. Typically, residents stay for at least 90 days, but they can remain for as long as they continue to abide by halfway house rules. These include maintaining sobriety, contributing to household chores, paying rent, and abiding by a curfew.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
When an individual's life is negatively impacted by substance use but they are resistant to treatment, a drug intervention in Idaho may be appropriate. Drug intervention programs are designed to break through this resistance and motivate the person to get help. During the intervention, the specialist helps loved ones bring reality to the individual and break through barriers that are preventing them from getting the help they need.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Medical detox is the process of removing addictive substances from your body in a medically supervised setting. With the aim of keeping you as safe and comfortable as possible, a team of licensed medical professionals monitors your vitals and may provide medications if needed to alleviate any withdrawal symptoms. Medically assisted detox is generally partially covered by most private insurance and insurance plans under the Affordable Care Act.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Idaho provides treatment for addiction to drugs. It usually includes a combination of treatment methods that can involve counseling, medication, and a variety of evidence-based therapies. Programs are designed to help individuals manage their substance use disorder long-term.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

It's amazing the motivation and desire one can have when they can truly feel the love and concern shown to them. It's definitely a one of a kind place for individuals out of prison and on parole. This has been a great experience.

I can’t thank Ascent Behavioral Health Services enough for the incredible impact they’ve had on not only my recovery journey but my life in general. From day one, I felt welcomed, understood, and supported in a way I never expected. A huge part of my progress and healing is thanks to the amazing counselors Josh and Melissa. Josh brought such an individualized, welcoming, and honest style of counseling from day one that helped me see things clearly, stay accountable, feel able to be more vulnerable, and truly has become one of my best friends I can always count on and come to for support, while Melissa provided such warmth and insight that every session felt like a breakthrough. Their balance of compassion and structure was exactly what I needed to start rebuilding my life. I also want to give special recognition to my case manager, Allison. She was incredibly responsive, patient, and genuinely cared about my progress. Whether it was helping me stay on track with appointments or just checking in on me she always went above and beyond. The entire team at Ascent made me feel like more than just a client — they treated me like a human being worth helping. I’m leaving this program not just sober, but stronger, more self-aware, and filled with hope. If you or someone you care about is struggling, I truly believe Ascent is a place where real healing happens.

I cannot begin to express my gratitude towards Ascent as a whole but more specifically to my counselor Josh & case manager Allison. I came to Ascent after a prior negative experience at another treatment facility and was hesitant in giving treatment another shot. Since the very moment I first showed up to Ascent I felt welcomed with open arms from the entire team and felt a level of empathy, respect, and genuine concern for my well-being that truly changed my life. What stood out the most was the personalized approach. Josh & Allison took the time to really get to know me, tailoring my treatment plan to my specific needs and challenges. This wasn’t a one-size-fits-all approach; it was a program that treated me as a whole person, addressing not just my addiction, but also the underlying emotional and psychological factors that contributed to it. The relationships I was able to form in our group sessions have been absolutely invaluable to my success and education in my recovery. More importantly the tact and professionalism that both Josh & Allison have demonstrated throughout my time at Ascent has left an impact on me that I will cherish & remember for the rest of my life. I have interacted with other counselors in the past and the creative approach Josh brings to our group & individual settings was exactly what I needed to really help me see what a strong sober support system & life of recovery can truly look like. There is no doubt that I would not be where I am today without the support and council both Allison & Josh have bestowed up on me. I am incredibly thankful for the whole team at Ascent Behavioral Health. Thanks to their expertise and unwavering support, I am now living a life of sobriety that I never thought was possible. I wholeheartedly recommend Ascent to anyone who is struggling with substance abuse and seeking a comprehensive, compassionate recovery program. Thank you for all that you continue to do.

THANK YOU ASCENT BEHAVIORAL HEALTH TEAM!! I am more than thankful for the all of the staff that has helped me in my recovery, I have so many amazing tools now in my shed to help aid in my recovery. I can't say enough thanks to Pam my class facilator in bringing to light the best way for me to use what I have learned in group and put them to work in my everyday life. I am more than grateful for Josh who has helped lend a ear and given positive feedback when I needed it and helping aid in paperwork that was needed to help me in my recovery process while in sober living. The receptionists where beyond helpful and accommodating and always remembered me by my name. I would strongly recommend Ascent for a positive experience in helping others decide when choosing to begin the recovery process. If you work the program you can and will succeed with Ascent. I recently completed treatment here and it was such an amazing experience. The staff is absolutely wonderful. Josh helped to provide so many resources to me while I was in treatment, but also made sure I knew what resources were available once I completed my treatment. Pam was the most incredible counselor and I feel so lucky to have had the chance to be in her class. She has helped me in so many ways. My time here will never be forgotten. Highly recommend for those who are looking for help.
