About Beverly Health Care

Beverly Health Care in Fredericksburg, Virginia was a private rehab center that helped people struggling with substance use, including those with mental health challenges. Clients usually came to this program as aftercare once finishing an inpatient stay. It is now closed.

Treatment was flexible, and I like that clients could continue living at home while getting care. Addiction programs were gender specific and designed to address the unique challenges men face. They focused on helping folks recover from mental health conditions like bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety and schizophrenia.

The facility had 177 available beds, and treatment was offered in group and individual settings with psychologists and counselors. They addressed the root causes of addiction, including challenges at home, work or school.

Parks, Libraries and History Nearby

For an outdoor break between sessions, clients could visit one of Fredericksburg’s city parks, including Old Mill Park, Alum Spring Park and Hurkamp Park. For some quiet reflective time, Central Rappahannock Regional Library offers genealogy services, drawing tablets and sewing machines.

Clients who wanted a connection to community enjoyed the 40 block Fredericksburg Historic District which has over 350 buildings, including the Fredericksburg Town Hall and Market Square.

Broke my femur and had surgery. Mary Washington sent me here for rehab to transition home. This is a nursing home. They say there are two different areas for long and short term patients. My roommate (no one warned of a roommate) while very sweet, had clear permanent mental defections and was in no way “short term” the hall was filled with dementia patients, including men in their underwear, hollering constantly. Twice, one of these men stood in the doorway to my room, screaming and had to be removed. I immediately told them I was not staying. I was in a bedroom in need of cleaning and repair. There was no bathroom. I can’t walk, cannot even move myself in bed without help. The bed had one tiny rail. Immediate problem, I had to pee but no could help me use a commode “until tomorrow” when the PT people came. I couldn’t use a bed pan because of the location of my femur fracture. My husband and I had to call the police for me to get out of there, even after I signed “against medical advice” to leave, they refused to facilitate my leaving. The police sent an ambulance (fyi the FD treated us like we were the problem) and finally they agreed to take me a “satellite” ER “because the regular ER was too busy for my situation (in other words, I was being ridiculous). They lied and said they didn’t have any paperwork for me, they refused to give me my meds that they had had filled from my paper scripts and when we eventually looked at my “discharge paperwork”, it was for a different woman, extremely against HIPPA laws. Today, we called to get the medications of MINE that they filled already, and we were told that their policy is to either return the drugs to the pharmacy (clearly, not legal or possible) or they are destroyed. I was discharged yesterday from Mary Washington with multiple scripts and have none. A woman called today saying she was following up. She could provide no answers and told me a nurse would have to call us back to answer my legal questions because she couldn’t, as she wasn’t a “clinical person”. That’s my personal experience, but I would say, RUN.

One night, my mother called me in tears , she had been left lying in her own feces and urine for over four hours. She repeatedly called the nurse's station, and each time they told her, “We’ll be there,” but no one ever showed up. When I arrived at the facility, I was shocked. I walked around the unit completely unnoticed trying to find someone in charge. There was no supervisor on duty, and several nurses and staff members were literally sleeping at their stations. I cannot express how disturbing it was to see how little regard they had for their patients' dignity and well-being. Needless to say, I removed my mother from that facility the very next day. If you’re considering this place for someone you love, please think twice. No one deserves to be treated this way.

Worst place you can ever send someone. A few of the staff are good, but unfortunately 95% can care less and shouldn’t even be in healthcare. Check on your family members ALOT if you must use these guys, and don’t trust the staff at what they say. Every few years this reopens with a new name as well it seems.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Treatments

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.
