About Mayo Regional Hospital

You’ll be supported by a team of medical professionals who take an evidence-based approach to recovery while employing best practices for your mental health or addiction recovery.

Your recovery may include treatments such as individual and group counseling, specialized therapies, skills training, and education. Because care is offered in an outpatient setting, you will also have flexible treatment options that cater to your unique lifestyle.

If you need more robust care, they can provide you with access to intensive outpatient or partial hospitalization programs. You might also be referred for inpatient care if your needs warrant. One thing about their programs that really stands out to me is the holistic approach to wellness.

For instance, they offer training in a wide range of stress management techniques such as writing therapy and therapeutic breathing.

Better than the Elliot!!!! I was in Maine moving and ended up going into labor and I am so grateful that I did. I had Dr. Wagner as my doctor and she was absolutely amazing.. it was a new place and my plan did not go as I wanted but they helped me through it and helped me push out my BIG baby.. the nurses both day and night were also incredible. I have had 2 children before this and I wish it was in this hospital. If you need to deliver a baby I suggest going here.. just so AMAZING.

Accepted Insurance

Mayo Regional Hospital works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

I would give this place 0 stars if I could. After Northern light took over this place went down hill fast and laid off workers. What a slap in the face to those that worked there for years. Northern light doesn't care about anyone! go somewhere else for treatment.

Was sent to northern light emergency department by my PCP. An ambulance picked me up at her office. Everyone in the emergency department was caring, compassionate, and worked together to help me. I was then sent to a regular room for five days. From CNAs, to nurses, to the doctors... They we're helpful and very explanatory. I was scared and they were listening! They helped relieve my fears and found a solution.

Response from the owner
Thank you for the wonderful feedback! We are always here to assist you if anything comes up. Take care!

They are good for a broken bone, but to get any real answers out of them is impossible. Incompetent beyond comprehension. Every northern light contradicts the others, and tries to pass the buck onto someone else. Noone has any real professionalism only pleasant facades.

We would like to address your concerns, so please contact us at 207.973.8110 or PatientAdvocate@northernlight.org. We hope to earn back your trust.

I'm a 64 retired disabled Veteran..I've gone to this mayo clinic twice while having heart attacks asking for help with my heart condition...on or about Nov. 17th I went to mayo clinic asking for heart help. On this day they lead me to an emergency exam room spent from around approximately from 10:00 am to approximately 6:00 pm and the only treatment was ,taking blood pressure, when the shit change came the head nurse came in and informed me, I could get a drip IV put in and moved to the sister hospital in Bangor or I was told I could. Take a second choice and go home against Dr.s orders they kicked me out on 3 degree weather I do have mobility issues I asked I could stay in lobby añd tried to get .ride home ,6.5 miles.well not getting any treatments I chose to go home and was told to get out even while having heart issues..home and sleep..about 5 months late my heart flared up again March 6 I proceeded to Kiffican? Emergency care clinic..had a wonderful doc THIER both her and I realized I needed follow up so she suggested I go to mayo clinic, which I was hesitant but knowing I do need help they called ambulance and I proceeded to mayo..when I arrived I was lead to a horny in hall way of emergency room. Rea professional like ..the place was very chaotic and busy as can be. You male nurse began drawing my blood when suddenly head nurse Cratchett came over started barking orders at me and young male nurse very unprofessional.. she stepped away as I told her I didn't want IV they can medicate bye oral pill form.young man was very professional unlike head nurse ..ether way I asked if I will be getting food and water and was told bye 5 did nuses " yes" I will at 4:30- 5:30..being as I had light breakfast at 6:00 am. As it turned around 5:30 I noticed nurses going In back room chewing food..none for me though, long after blood was drawn. So I waited til 6:00 pm ..no water or food so I went to chow hall nice young lady started to hook me up with 2 parafatts and a bottle of soda when all of a sudden the head nurse comes crash in chow hall like a sweaty team leader shouting I can't have any food or water like some kind of Commie control freek!! The she looked me in the eye and told me I have to leave!! Real professional .they were at least kind enough to stay and get a can at 830 pm now this was twice I'm told to leave while I'm still having heart issues..Real professional, not..head nurse is a witch control freek very rude and unprofessional.. as I left I did tell her and the rest of swatt team that I wouldn't let those unprofessional jerks work onmy dead dog.. as a disabled Veteran I find it unfathomable they would treat any one like this..
