There are not enough medication clinics in Maine and MBHO fills a need. The staff at the med clinic are professional and willing to coordinate with case managers and clinicians to get clients needs met. The building is lovely and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. The nurses and the aides go above and beyond their duties to make sure all my needs are met and any problems with my Healthcare are addressed right away! If you are ready to get sober and can stay focused on your own recovery (stay out of any drama) this program has so much to offer. The staff are wonderful and treat you like a woman, not a patient. They also allow your children to visit snd stay over on the weekends and help connect you with all the resources you need when you leave. I get a full 60 minute visit with her and it helps greatly. Early on I believe it was only a matter of a few days before they sent me up for my first appointment. Chelsea listens to me rambling on and on… And when I finally let her speak (LOL) she will come up with some good suggestions in order to help me, help myself. Therapy for me is a very slow process. Let’s face it I’ve had problems for decades… Do I really think they were all going to be solved overnight, NO! That one hour a week helps so much… And every once in a great while I need to rely on the crisis line… That’s what they are there for. I have called Higher Ground maybe three times and asked to have Chelsea return my call, and within one or two hours she gets back to me. I have zero complaints, and only great praise to give all those working at Higher Ground. ☺️👍🤟🤘✌️ 🤜💖🤛 Charlene Mack 3 years ago An amazing place to find the best therapists and counselors in the Bangor/Brewer area (and probably all of Northern Maine). The staff are caring and professional. They are willing to listen to each client's individual needs and form a treatment plan that puts the client (not just their symptoms) at the center of it. If you are in a financially difficult position, do not hesitate to talk with the front desk about how they can help you get treatment without over extending your means. The amount of healing I have experienced at Higher Ground is staggering. I feel anyone who is struggling owes it to themself to schedule a consultation. Thank you Higher Ground!
