Anyway, I think that the program is better now than it was when I attended a few years ago. My counselor back then was a really good guy and my current counselor now is even better. Absolutely love going there and love all the people that work there from the director down to the janitor...they are all great people that have a great program that I credit with saving my life. Every staff member is friendly and goes out of their way to make sure you have what you need. My husband needed surgery- the ER, ICU, PACU, phlebotomy, and surgical team were phenomenal. Explained everything clearly and made us feel comfortable. Random staff members I passed in the hallway went out of their way to ask me if I needed help finding where I was going (I did), then stopped what they were doing to walk me to the right place. Our two children have been born here, and every time that we've come here for those reasons, it was always a fantastic experience with fantastic accommodations, and it was always very clean. You can tell the staff cared very deeply about every single one of their patients, and the midwives were absolutely phenomenal to work with. However, other aspects of the hospital I would not recommend. Staff was kind and supportive (most of the time). Plenty of privileges (Radio, phone, outside, video games, supervised tablet use.) Admission time was highly unsatisfactory. I rotted away in a gurney for about 2 weeks waiting for a bed here which, obviously, was painfully uncomfortable and worsened my already diminishing mental state. On that note Charleston really helped they weren't treating me like a criminal they treated me like some one who just needed guidance. They have a job to do it's our faults we are in there; weather its we actually committed the crime, or just being around the wrong people at the wrong time. Those are the decisions we made they helped me realize that. That being said some crimes committed, (having heard the stories, and deducing a percentage of them lie to you and some actually do tell the truth.) were committed for reasons justified. justified is not always law abiding. This facility has good people creating and working with inmates to have good programs in place and jobs to work and make money. Remember in a place like prison the experience is what you make it so if your negative your outcome is negative if you are positive your outcome is positive.
