About Mercy Multiplied

Nancy Alcorn, a native Tennessean, spent years working with the state, helping girls in a correctional facility and investigating child abuse cases. Seeing how government programs often fell short, she felt called to start a Christ-centered program where young women could truly heal. In 1983, she founded Mercy Multiplied in Monroe, Louisiana. Since then, they’ve expanded to locations in Nashville, St. Louis and Sacramento as well as the United Kingdom and Canada with more locations planned.

Mercy Multiplied has three homes in the United States including Nashville, Tennessee; St. Louis, Missouri and Sacramento, California. Young women who apply to the program are considered for all three homes. If an applicant is pregnant or between the ages of 13 and 17 then they’re placed in the Nashville home.

Residents receive weekly individual and group therapy through Mercy Multiplied’s Christian-based counseling model, Choices that Bring Change (CBC). This approach helps them grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ while addressing the root causes of their struggles.

Each home has a nurse to help with things like medication, first aid, and connecting with local doctors, dentists, or specialists. While not a medical facility, the homes make sure every resident gets the care they need.
If residents are facing an unplanned pregnancy then they provide decision counseling and individual and group therapy. They provide prenatal care, health and wellness services and parenting classes. For residents considering adoption, Mercy also offers counseling and help connecting with an adoptive family.
Most residents graduate from the program in six to nine months. During their time in the program, they focus on planning for the next chapter, whether that’s work, education or other goals. With the support they receive many leave with a stronger sense of direction and readiness for what’s next.

When my mentally ill friend's application was accepted, she was told it would be free. A couple of weeks after her intake by phone, she then received an email stating they need $300 upfront and $100 per month thereafter. Alarms went off in my head. It's billed as free, but when you read the fine print on their website, you'll see that's not the case. That's deceptive, especially when the patient is sick and not able to think clearly. I then looked into this organization's history and read some very disturbing stories from former patients. True Christians don't take advantage of and manipulate people, especially when the people are ill. SHAME ON YOU!

Mercy Multiplied does not charge anyone for its services. However, in the Residential Program, it is recommended for residents to have spending money for weekly outings, toiletries, and any other personal needs that may come up while in the program. This is simply a recommendation and not a requirement.

I was 17 when I came here in 2020. It’s difficult to do any program but staying and surrendering saved my life. God changed me as I walked in one person and left a new person! The staff were awesome and super patient. It's really clean, and good food. They took us to YMCA to let us workout, a huge mall every other week, and fun random activities like rock climbing or have spa day at the house. They really care and it's all free with legit counselors, food and housing. You don't even have to spend ur $100 a month they require its for you if you legit want spending $ at mall or special shampoos (they have free shampoo if u need). Sweet place. Not to mention we went to winterjam huge christian festival in Nashville seeing hillsong, and a buncha random christian artists all free! biggest stadium ever. and Sadie robertson was gonna meet us in person (it was covid tho at time sadly). You get to road trip to a giant women's conference in Missouri to and see Joyce meyer, Priscilla shier, etc. All free! They just make it really nice here. I wish I could go back sometimes lol. Main thing to change me was reading my Bible a lottt. Dig into ur word!!! They taught us girls that remain in freedom continuing after program stay in these 4 things: your word, prayer and church and fellowship. I’d have gone back to my old life if spending time with Jesus wasn’t a lifestyle. Scriptures I read in Bible while in here still pop up in my head at perfect times i need them and really set my life up for success. Matthew 19:29 says "And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times as much and will inherent eternal life." Don't let Satan continue to steal, kill, and destroy ur life. God has plans for hope and a future!

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

Outpatient rehabs enable clients to receive care without leaving their home, workplace, and community. Clients typically receive intensive addiction counseling, including individual, group, and family therapy. Many programs promote clients' long-term sobriety through recovery-focused life skills training and ancillary services, such as peer coaching. Medication assisted treatment (MAT), including medication induction and maintenance, are common in outpatient care. Most facilities offer multiple levels of care to accommodate clients' evolving needs, including intensive outpatient (IOP) and standard outpatient programming.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

When your day-to-day life is taken over by drug use, this is known as substance use disorder. If you abruptly stop using your drug of choice, you experience withdrawal symptoms. To overcome this cycle, professional drug rehab in Tennessee is usually needed.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Fitness therapy blends exercise with psychotherapy for a fun, inspiring, and effective way of treating addiction and other issues. By incorporating movement into counseling sessions, clients become more empowered, motivated, and goal-oriented, all while strengthening their bodies and becoming more flexible. Fitness Therapy is usually used to complement a course of treatment (inpatient or outpatient) to make it even more successful. Increasing the connection between a patient’s mind and body helps both with healing as well as in creating new, healthy habits.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.
