About Tulsa Comprehensive Treatment Center

Addiction-related services provided at this location include outpatient addiction treatment and medication-assisted treatment for individuals with opioid use disorder.

Outpatient Addiction Treatment
This methadone clinic begins treatment with an intake assessment that addresses an individual’s current experiences, past drug use, and medical history. This is followed by a physical exam and drug screening. All results contribute to the personalized recovery plan that is created.

The clinic uses methadone and buprenorphine to treat the physical symptoms of opioid addiction and curb cravings. Counseling helps address the emotional and behavioral aspects of addiction while processing difficult emotions and revealing why opioid use started. Additionally, outpatient counseling sessions help create healthy coping skills and strategies to avoid future opioid use. This program is available to adults aged 18 and older. The facility is open Monday through Friday 5:00 am to 11:00 am.

The nurses at the windows, the amazing staff at the front desk, and all the way to back to the director and Doctor of this clinic are absolutely the most down to earth, friendliest people I’ve ever met! If you have a strong mind and you really want better for yourself I highly recommend this clinic is the best for you! CTC has absolutely been an amazing experience for me and will continue to be! Thank you CTC & staff for all that you do for your patients, you guys are amazing in many different ways!

When it comes to this sort of thing there are always going to be stressful days, and hard times, but this is a great clinic with good people and the environment feels safe. The ladies in the front are awesome, and are always kind and understanding and they have bright smiles even when it’s early in the morning. Angela is so easy to vibe with and she has a great sense of humor and a personality anyone can relate to. Ty (Theia) is an amazing counselor who is also very easy to vibe with and talk to, and that’s a big deal when it comes to being able to talk to counselors. She’s someone you feel like you can be honest with and be able to talk about any potential bad times and you won’t feel shamed or judged when talking to her. Cheryl is also amazing with great style and she will ease your mind when it’s time for a needle prick for labs. Thank you everyone at CTC for working hard every morning for us! 💚 *Also a shout out to Maria! We love seeing your bright, happy, kind face in the mornings! *And a shout out to Bree, I watched her go out of her way to give a woman a needed pair of shoes because she was without, and it was definitely an act of kindness that should be recognized!

I have never left a negative review on any business or Dr office but there’s been multiple incidents of being talked down too, spoken to like a worthless drug addict that is intentionally doing things to be difficult or to lie about why I needed help. I was being seen for the first time to get on MAT, I was severely addicted and I had been using since I was 10 years old. I was at risk of losing custody of my children which caused me to seek medicated assisted treatment at the ctc on Garnett Road- THE FIRST TIME BEING SEEN a woman looked me up and down, called the Dr and basically alluded to me being a liar because I “didn’t look sick/or look like a drug addict” I was only there under false pretenses? I cried on the way home. I didn’t report it because who cares if I was misjudged; UNTIL TODAY, I was waiting to see my counselor as I usually do- in the hallway patiently waiting for her to finish with the person ahead of me (not knowing there was another waiting room down that hallway) this counselor (didn’t give her name) immediately has an attitude towards me and is rudely telling me that “we don’t do that here- mm mm- you go to the waiting area instead of standing here like that!” I had no idea there was another waiting area, I stand in the same place every time I have to see my counselor because I didn’t know there was a place to wait and I’ve never had any issue until today. This may not seem like a big deal but it was how she spoke to me- like I was doing something to intentionally be malicious? I told her “okay Jesus- you don’t need to be so aggressive or rude about it, I would have happily gone to the waiting area if I had known there was one back here.” She turns around and leans into my space and threatens me with being kicked out of the program because I had an attitude. I told her that I have never had an issue and all I was trying to say was that I didn’t know better yet she Initially CAME UP TO ME WITH AN AGGRESSIVE TONE AND attitude towards me! I try hard to be the kindest and most patient person, I rarely have issues with anyone my entire life- but if you approach me with a nasty attitude/tone when I’ve done nothing wrong, you are going to receive that same energy and she didn’t like that. She turned around, got close to my face and that’s when she threatened to have me kicked from the program. Again, I let her know that I had never seen another waiting area I had known it was there I wouldn’t have been in the hallway where I usually wait every day and it’s never been an issue. She came at me with an attitude, but when I gave her one back, she acted like I’m the one that started it. All I asked was for her to kindly approach me instead of acting like I did it maliciously she rolled her eyes, accusing me of lying about not knowing there was another waiting area, which is insane. I would have no reason to lie. It’s not that big of a deal to me. It comes across as viewing drug addicts, all the same stereotypically judging them so why is she working at a math clinic then? I feel bad for anyone else that isn’t mentally able to stand up for themselves because that was bully behavior coming from a counselor, that’s supposed to care about their job & the addicts they take care of. I’m so upset, and I am leaving this review so you guys know to be prepared if that’s Where you’re going to get help for addiction. It’s sad because there’s literally nothing I can do about how she spoke to me. I just had to take it because if I’m kicked from the Program, I’m sick and lose custody of my kids. I’m glad I’m not still running the streets because I would’ve handled this differently. Fair warning.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Clients enrolled in rehab aftercare programs have typically completed weeks or months of intensive treatment, often in inpatient detox and/or rehab centers, and may be receiving outpatient care. Drug rehab aftercare is designed to approach recovery as a life-long process. Clients and their case managers and care teams typically work together to formulate clients' continuing care plan, which may include peer coaching, career counseling, and 12 step program facilitation, among other services.

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

To address the issues of addiction, each drug rehab in Oklahoma is tailored to meet the individual's needs. Treatment may occur in a residential or outpatient setting, and may last from a few days to several months.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.

Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Accreditations
