About Pacifica Counseling

Pacifica Counseling – Seattle, Washington, is a counseling center in downtown Seattle that helps people with substance use disorder and mental health concerns. They work with both adults and adolescents, and their care teams support a wide variety of needs. We value all of the many options they offer for substance dependency support.

They work with various private health insurance plans and offer sliding scale fees based on income and other factors. They also take self payments and cash. Their admissions team will work closely with you to get all of your coverage details figured out so that you can start getting treatment as soon as possible with no barriers.

Belltown Neighborhood Scene

You’ll find Pacifica Counseling in Belltown, a place that’s known for its artsy vibe and access to public transportation. It’s a short walk from the waterfront and amazing landmarks like the Space Needle and the Olympic Sculpture Park. These cool spots can be part of your therapy to help put some fun and enjoyment into your day when going in for treatments.

Outpatient Services in Seattle

They offer both standard and intensive outpatient treatment options depending on your needs. These options are great because they allow you to keep up with daily responsibilities as you’ll continue to live at home while getting treatment. If you’re dealing with both mental health components and substance use issues, their programs are designed to treat both of these at once. We greatly appreciate how hard they work to make the process simple for you.

I used to work at this agency but I quit 6 months ago. My name and photo are still displayed on the "Meet the Team" section of the website, despite plenty of time for the owner to update it, and me sending a Cease and Desist Notice to stop using my name and photo when I don't work there anymore. I feel the need to inform the public of this false advertising: it's not fair for them or me. The owner also still owes me thousands of dollars in unpaid (stolen wages); I have a completed L&I claim in my favor that confirms this. The disorganization and lack of responsiveness that I've observed from this agency are a common theme, both during and after my time there.

For months, I have been dealing with surprise charges and deceptive billing practices from this place! In addition, when I first posted a review here about surprise charges on my card (after failing to get a clear answer from them directly), the Clinical Director called me, yelled at me and threatened retaliatory action if I didn’t take down the review. Nua refunded me the excess amount charged to my card, and I removed that review. Unfortunately, two weeks later they re-billed me the amounts they had refunded me!! Maybe they thought I wouldn’t notice - it felt very deceptive! They have also continued to send me erroneous bills months on. At one point when I asked their admin about a surprise excessive bill, I was told “disregard this bill for now” - the admin then charged my card on file and made the refund contingent on me resolving a mistake they made 3 months ago with insurance, which is impossible since I don’t own a time machine and it’s also not my job to fix their mistakes. It was pretty ridiculous. Overall, the provider was nice but dealing with their billing/admin team has been a real life horror story.

Hi Nehel, we understand your frustration with using your Employee Assistance Programming Services. As shared in direct emails with you, we have yet to receive final updates from your insurance claims processing and unfortunately, that portion is out of Nua Counseling’s control. But we are happy to announce that we have a new biller on our team to help clarify things further and you are welcome to reach out to us directly for more information.

Accepted Insurance

Please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Pacifica Counseling works with several private insurance providers, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Effective drug rehab in Washington integrates care for the whole person, offering comprehensive solutions to addiction. Treatment methods address mental, physical, and relational aspects of substance abuse.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

NUA has truly been a game changer for me and my family! It really starts with the staff and their approach. They aren’t simply seeing patients; they see whole people! They’ve been amazingly resourceful not only in sessions, but also with pointing me and my family to outside resources when it comes to things they don’t offer. They take the time to ensure they find the right fit for each person. I’d highly recommend them any day of the week!

Response from the owner
