Addiction Treatments

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Missouri usually involves several phases: detox, rehab, and aftercare. The rehab phase may include a combination of inpatient and outpatient treatments, as the individual moves through a continuum of care on their recovery journey.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

I don't generally do a whole lot of reviews unles something just sucks so much, or if the service is above and beyond your expectations and deserved the attention and gratitude. The best! He's not a typical therapist that stares at you awkwardly while writing in his notebook. After a near fatal car accident, I came to him as I had been diagnosed with PTSD, depression, and anxiety/panic disorder. Never had these disorders ever before so I was rightly nervous going in. He's very relaxed, snd makes you feel comfortable. It's not easy finding a therapist, since you're spilling your deepest darkest thoughts and feelings, so you want to feel absolutely comfortable with whom you choose. Like picking friends. Some you drink with, and some you watch movies and play board games with all your kids and spouses together. I was referred to him by my primary dr, whom I trust with my life, so I gave him a shot. He's fair, and reasonable with appointment times and fees. He's relaxed, he wears jeans and his favorite color is pink. He has long white hair that he keeps in a ponytail. I'd discribe him as a metrosexual biker if I "had to label", which I don't. He's opinionated, flamboyant, he pushes you when he knows you need to say something but are fearful or that you might sound stupid. He might even say you sound stupid. He's honest and engaged. His office phone is his cell. He always answers. Even during a session, but he'll tell you that he's in a session snd that he'll call back. And guess what? He calls you right back. As part of his fee for the 50 minute session, it comes with 24/7 phone calls. If you need to talk at 4 am, he answers and listens and advises. Hell ask that you call every night at 7 (which is when all sessions for the day end and call ins are started) to check in on how your day went. Was it good? Bad? Do you need to discuss anything at all? I've never been to a therapist that's been so engaged on all levels and will not only allow, but encourages you to call anytime at all. He got into his profession because he wants to hear people and help people through minor stresses, major stresses, whatever the case may be. He obviously doesn't judge and he's impartial. On no ones side, but your mental health. Hes definitely quirky and unconventional. I don't like seeing therapist dressed up in suits and ties and asking me a list of pretyped questions about your past and family history and write crap down in a book while saying "hmmm.. Interesting.. Do you feel this has something to do with a suppressed memory from your average Mediocre childhood?" And then you hear the buzzer that ends the session so you can do the same thing next week. Brad Karrol is an excellent therapist, I've been seeing him a year now and have referred everyone I know to him, and he is Saint Louis #1 therapist in my book. Don't go anywhere else. Give him a call. He can even get you in the same day if you reslly need it and you both feel it's urgent. Check him out! And when you give him a review ask him to get a website and a phone that's newer than 2001 cell phones. Conclusion, very happy I found a great therapist in my area that really gets me, my personality and isn't offended when I curse.
