About South Beach Detox

South Beach Detox is located in North Miami Beach, Florida. The center is accredited by The Joint Commission. They are also licensed by the State of Florida Agency for Health Care Administration and the Department of Health and Human Services.

The center offers addiction and mental health treatment to adults. You’re also able to receive dual diagnosis inpatient care. Insurance is accepted including Tricare.

What stood out to me is that their staff is bilingual. I like that you will not have to worry about a potential language barrier.

Their inpatient medical detox will provide you with round the clock access to medical and psychiatric care. Most people are in detox for 7-10 days or until their bodies have gotten rid of the toxins related to substance abuse.

Before you begin any form of treatment, you will be evaluated and assessed. In order for the staff to determine the best treatment plan for you, they will assess your cognitive, physical and behavioral health. They do use a pharmacological approach.

Their detox program has been designed to help care and treat your co-occurring addiction and psychiatric issues. They have psychiatrists and licensed therapists who’ll treat your underlying issues. By treating these underlying issues, you will be able to maintain long term sobriety.

If you don’t need detox, you can opt for their substance abuse program. This program uses cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). This form of therapy is going to focus on the relationship between your feelings, behaviors and thoughts. It makes you become aware of your thought patterns.

My experience as a South Beach Detox patient was really good. I must highlight, first of all, the comfortable and clean facilities of the center (very important characteristics if we consider the needs of the patients who are admitted there); On the other hand, the excellent attention from the staff who work there deserves special mention. From the reception (in my case by Mr. Jorge Figueroa - who at all times showed an excellent disposition to attend to each of my demands in the most appropriate way) through the professionalism of all the people involved in the care of the patients and in my particular case I echo the excellent support from Dr. Odalys Compte, who spared no effort in fulfilling her responsibilities towards us. I could not conclude this review without also praising the work of the maintenance and cleaning staff: outstanding and with a lot of respect for us. Bravo for everyone! Truly, a spectacular experience. Thank you!

South Beach Detox was in my opinion just average when it comes to treatment centers I have been to. I liked that they accept couples and allowed my fianc and I to share a room without any other clients. I also liked that I was allowed to have my cellphone after completing the detox portion of the program. I didn t like that we couldn t hold our vapes and could only go outside to use them at designated smoke break times. The medication administration process also could be tiresome especially at night. The medical and psychiatric doctors were available and open to my concerns and medication wants and needs; most of which were taken care of in a manner that I found acceptable. The required therapy groups were decent but not great. I didn t like how they were scheduled either. The food menu did not have much variety and not very healthy with limited alternatives. There were a lot of unhealthy junk food snacks. The facility was clean and personal hygiene products were available if needed. Laundry was done by staff in a timely manner. The tech staff was mostly friendly and professional. I loved my individual therapist, Wins, I think was her name. Case management was terrible, however. The case manager took very little time with me and it was always on the go in the hallway or cafeteria. I expressed my concerns about aftercare placement long in advance of my discharge yet no facility was contacted until two days before. Two of my choices didn t work with my insurance which could have been found out earlier and another option didn t have a bed available with the short notice. I ended up going to my fourth option and had to do the preassessment screening the night before my discharge after normal business hours. I would recommend this treatment center for detox only. Not residential which I was admitted to without any prior notice or option.

Accepted Insurance

South Beach Detox works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Rehab aftercare programs are a collection of highly individualized services designed to promote long-term recovery. These services evolve as your needs change. Case managers and recovery teams typically begin formulating the rehab aftercare service plan early in the recovery process to facilitate your reintegration back into the home, workplace, and community.
12-step icon12-Step
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).
sober-living iconSober Living Homes
Sober Living Houses (SLHs), aka sober homes or halfway houses, are safe, substance-free, supportive living facilities for those recovering from substance abuse. Ideal for those who've just been through inpatient or outpatient treatment, SLHs are supervised environments with rules that support sobriety, such as curfews, shared chores, and therapeutic meetings. Residents are also often trained on life skills and coping skills to make it easier to transition into society. SLHs also provide a strong sense of community that can lead to the kind of deep and lasting connections with other sober individuals that supports a new, healthy lifestyle.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don’t require 24-hour care. PHPs have structured programming (i.e. individual and/or group therapy), and usually meet 3-5 days a week for around 6 hours (i.e. 9am-3m). Some PHPs are residential (patients sleep on site) and some are not, so patients sleep at home. PHPs can last from 1-6 months, and some offer transportation and meals.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
At certain points in the recovery process, it's important to have support available 24/7. 24-hour clinical care offers a safe environment in which to recover from drug or alcohol addiction in peace, knowing medical detox and other treatment will happen with professionals on hand.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Florida provides quality treatment to help individuals overcome dependency related to a wide range of addictive substances. Programs address both the physical and mental aspects of addiction in order to help you make a full recovery.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

As a short term therapeutic method, motivational interviewing in Florida requires only a couple of sessions. During these sessions, you'll have the opportunity to talk about your circumstances and any discrepancies between your current situation and future goals. You'll then decide for yourself what changes you want to make.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

During couples therapy in Florida, your therapist will take steps to get to know you, help you identify feelings, explore the past, develop solutions, and help you learn skills to manage relationship challenges. This process will allow you to work through conflict and strengthen your relationship.

EMDR is a therapeutic modality originally developed to help process trauma. In an EMDR session, a patient is prompted to undergo eye movements that mimic those of REM sleep. This is accomplished by watching a therapist's finger move back and forth across, or following a bar of light. The goal is repetitive sets of eye movements that help the brain reprocess memory, which can significantly reduce the intensity of remembered traumatic incidents. Associated memories can heal simultaneously, leaving patients significantly calmer, more stable, and more emotionally relaxed.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Life skills are the core skills you need for daily success. They can include self care, stress management, daily routines, and emotion control. Rehab treatment includes the development of these skills so you have the tools you need for long term recovery.

Substance abuse creates biochemical imbalances in your body and brain. By implementing dietary changes, you can restore that balance. This is the goal of nutrition therapy in Florida. You'll gain an understanding of what nutrients your body needs and learn best self care practices.

Creativity is inherently healing, and can help those in recovery express thoughts or feelings they might not otherwise be able to. Creative arts therapy can include music, poetry/writing, painting, sculpting, dance, theater, sandplay, and more. Unlike traditional art, the final product matters far less than the experience of creation and expression itself.

The facility was really clean and I really liked my nursing staff. The reason I am dropping it to two stars is mainly because they Blatantly lied to me about a facility not taking my insurance when they actually do. Someone got angry at my therapist for helping me call a couple of facilities for my outpatient treatment. I have a mental health disorder so having my therapist help was beneficial to me. My case manager and admissions completely lied to and ignored me when I needed help setting up outpatient treatment. They kept referring me to Dade county counseling and I didn't want to go there. I asked my case manager to send a referral to Mount Sinai and they didn't! The facility itself is nice but the non nursing staff was unprofessional. Would recommend Summer House over this place!

Gracias!

As someone who has spent decades researching and working in the field of addiction and mental health, I can confidently say that South Beach Detox is a center that truly embodies the principles of compassionate and evidence-based care. The staff at South Beach Detox are dedicated to creating a safe and supportive environment that allows clients to confront the underlying trauma and emotional pain that often drive addiction. The focus on community and support is particularly impressive, as clients are encouraged to connect with one another and share their stories. The result is a center that offers true hope and healing for those struggling with addiction and mental health. I highly recommend South Beach Detox to anyone seeking a path towards recovery.

My stay at South Beach Detox was Amazing!! I'd like to start right from the get-go. It all started with Mr.Quinton, he did my intake and was caring, funny, patient and went above and beyond Everytime I bothered him. Hosea (Mr. Patient) never got upset even after asking him every 20 minutes for a break. Ms. Ebony (the enforcer) she looks tough but is the biggest(literally) sweetheart, always getting me coffee early in the morning. Mrs. Clodine (Ms. Patience) always ready to help no matter what or what time. My brotha Matt, ALWAYS keeping it 💯 even after beating him at pool and dominoes 😜. Ms. Ashley (Ms. Heart-of-gold) ready and waiting to calm me down after I got mad, the bracelet she made will never come off my wrist till it falls off. Sam (I am), Everytime I got outta hand explained everything Calmly, willingly and Professionally 🤟. Mrs. Melissa (Mrs. Get-R-Done) solved ALL my issues even if she had to make a U-turn on I-95 😂. Ms.Alinci-aga 🤪 always smiling and ready to listen to what anyone wanted to say or vent. The kitchen ladies, made my belly the happiest person in the world at all times. Ms. Telisa(my sista from another mista) words cannot be said or written to explain how much she helped me during my stay (luv ya). Ms. Lisa ( Ms. Yeezy) always attentive, patient and happy to help. Ms. Keshia (do u love me are we riding)never seen this sweetheart not smiling and always fixing my problems. Ms. Patricia(Mooommmaaaa oooowoooo) kept the place spotless and full of love. Made my day everyday with her loving smile and presence. Mrs. Marky Mark , I'm very closed in with my life but he somehow took me out of my nutshell. (and no , he's not a robot, just gotta work him in) 🤣. Ms. Lory (another enforcer) j/k big heart kind heart but I'm still the champ 🏆 😜. Damian ( Suge Knight) very knowledgeable and kind-hearted, a big friendly bear 🐻. Mr. Patrick (wa-guan), I bothered this man SOOOOOOOO much and never(not 1 time) got upset or brushed me off. He brings such an inviting vibe that you have no choice but to smile when he walks in the room. And last but least Mr. Robert(Mr. Drip) this is the most knowledgeable, patient, caring, smart, best dressed man (pause) I've ever met. I will forever be grateful to this man, being in his group probably saved my life. Words cannot explain the sense he knocked into my distorted mind. If I missed anyone I'm sorry but these are the ones that stood out in mind. Love you all and Mrs. Rochelle they ALL need a raise 😜💯🥰

Exceptional staff and food was like dining out at a restaurant! Maryanne and Marana were my nurses and they were great. Hoping and praying for a road to Recovery and this was a great start. Was hit by a car coming in and they nursed me back to walking and were there every step of the way even when I gave them a hard time they handled as professional. God bless this facility and staff for truly being one that is there to help!
