About Pathways – Summar Office

Medical detox is typically the first step in substance use addiction recovery. It removes addiction-related toxins from your body in preparation for the main therapy. Medical detox in this facility takes place in their highly structured and therapeutic detox unit. The process involves assessment, individualized treatment planning and stabilization with 24/7 monitoring by trained professionals. Medication may be administered to ease the withdrawal process. This ensures your detox is safe and comfortable.

After detox you can continue your recovery with their outpatient services. They may also refer you to a community inpatient rehabilitation facility if necessary. Their outpatient services include individual and family counseling. This helps you address personal challenges, improve relationships and develop healthy coping strategies for lasting recovery. Intensive outpatient group sessions are also available for adolescents and adults. Emphasis is on life skills and relapse prevention.

The facility even offers medication assisted treatment. This technique is effective in addressing opioid and alcohol dependence. It uses FDA approved medications alongside counseling to support recovery. Buprenorphine-based medicines such as Vivitrol and methadone are typically used to ease withdrawal symptoms. This allows clients to undergo counseling and therapy. This comprehensive approach addresses the psychological and physical aspects of addiction.

Their outpatient services are quite extensive and include medication management for co-occurring patients. They also offer case management, individual placement or support and employment assistance. You’ll benefit from their peer support programs as well. Most of their services, especially the counseling aspect, offer telehealth options which enhance convenience. It’s also financially convenient that they accept Medicaid and Medicare. You may even get a discounted fee if you qualify. The facility is part of the West Tennessee Healthcare System.

There are many things I could say negatively about this place, but their communication and lack of professionalism is the absolute biggest issue they have. I am on a medicine that cause withdrawal if not taken, and have many health issues like epilepsy and POTS which can interact with withdrawals and medications in general. They’ve continually scheduled my med appointments past my next refill date and to top it off they will not answer the phone, return voicemails, or even answer the pharmacy. While you’re withdrawing and finally get in touch with them (if you do) they get an attitude because you’ve been leaving voicemails for days. I’ve waited way too long for refills for the last few months and I’m officially done coming here after them letting me withdrawal for the second time. I’ve never experienced anything like this ANYWHERE ELSE. Stay away!!!

If you are looking for a facility that has the best interest in your mental health, respects the patients and their parents, upholds the company’s code of conduct , prioritizes integrity, always professional, understanding and will do everything in their power to help their clients to succeed DO NOT come here. I have experienced one of the most disgusting incidents with this company. My child was accepted into a group program for therapy and was told HE CANT COME BACK. He was kicked out of the program by CAROLYN, the clinical supervisor, for the VERY reason we went to pathways for help. The irony. This lady was so rude and extremely disrespectful. I never met her nor spoke to her until 10/21/25. She called me, didn’t introduce herself and talked to me in a passive aggressive manner and denied to continue therapy for my child. Honestly the best way to explain her behavior was tasteless. It was classless behavior. Fast forward to 10/28/25. After kicking my child out of therapy he was picked up from school by accident. No big deal just bring my baby home. Ava called to relay the message and I asked her for Carolyn’s supervisor’s name. Not even 5 minutes later Carolyn called me harassing me and stated Ava told her I asked for her supervisor’s name (Kim Parker). This lady continued to try to pry information out of me and pick my brain to see what I was going to tell her supervisor! So I tried to have a civilized conversation but Carolyn denied saying she told me verbatim, “he can’t come back,” repeatedly. She said he can’t come back so many times that I believe my child almost gave this lady a nervous breakdown the way she was carrying on. Carolyn went on to say, he acts like this everyday. Mind you that was the very first time I ever was notified of this if it has happened numerous of times. She called me dishonest and told me she had witnesses that will vouch for her to intimidate me. This is extremely concerning and SCARY! The fact that she’s a ring leader at pathways and have people on her side that will FABRICATE a story like that is beyond unbelievable. I’m grateful for this encounter because we dodged a bullet; the malpractice, lack of morals and values here has been going on for YEARS! My dad has been a patient here for almost 30 years so I have witnessed and encountered the poor treatment personally. There’s more rotten fruit at this place than it is of good unfortunately and the saddest part is they are dealing with innocent and vulnerable people. It is terrifying to know the employees with these high level positions are struggling with their own mental health all while assisting others with their mental/behavioral health. I’ve reached out to Kim Parker this morning via email and I’m not too sure that I will receive a reply because it has already been proven that there’s a buddy system established; the employees care more about protecting each other from being exposed not what’s in the best interest of the clients/children. Steer clear of this place! Take your children to a more respectful and reputable place! It’s worth driving out of town and it’s worth whatever amount of money you have to spend to ensure your child’s health is taken seriously. Go where you’re valued, NOT tolerated! I’ve attached screenshots of when I spoke to Ava on the 541 number and also when Carolyn called me from JMHS being rude and disrespectful. Look at the timestamps of the incoming call log. Carolyn continued to call me after I told her I could no longer talk to her because I was at work but she kept calling anyways. You’ve been warned.

This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

Treatments

Alcohol use disorder (AUD) is a treatable condition characterized by uncontrolled consumption of alcohol which continues despite negative consequences. Treatment options for alcohol addiction include inpatient or outpatient alcohol rehab in Tennessee. Therapeutic methods include group and individual therapy, medication, and holistic therapies. Aftercare is often provided through 12-step support groups, which offer ongoing accountability and encouragement.

When your day-to-day life is taken over by drug use, this is known as substance use disorder. If you abruptly stop using your drug of choice, you experience withdrawal symptoms. To overcome this cycle, professional drug rehab in Tennessee is usually needed.

opium iconOpioid Addiction

Substance abuse treatment in Tennessee is available in addiction treatment centers, where experienced addiction professionals can treat both substance use disorders. Typically, clinicians use a range of evidence-based therapies such as a biopsychosocial assessment, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and motivational interviewing to get a complete picture of your mental health, support systems, and motivation to change. Through an individualized treatment plan, you'll receive the support you need to achieve long-term sobriety through new skills and relapse prevention strategies.

Programs

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

The providers who specialize in the children's rehab space understand the specialized needs that this population faces. School-based and social services such as tutoring and family counseling are often central to treatment. Child programs may also address the needs of youth experiencing substance abuse in the home, including a parent's or sibling's addiction.

Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.

Clinical Services

Counseling in Tennessee that takes a dialectical behavior therapy approach can last from six to 12 months. During that time, you'll develop skills in the areas of distress tolerance, mindfulness, emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness.
