WORSE HOSPITAL EVER!! I was seen in the ER and the nurse that I had, whose name was Lindsey was very disrespectful and seemed uneducated. The M.D. Theresa Gardor was even worse! She did not want to help me and it showed. I needed help moving because I just had a c section 4 days prior and she stepped back and asked my husband to help me instead of her helping me to place my legs on the bed so that she could look at my incision… what if he wasn’t here? … that’s not even half of how they treated me and I was there for 4hours to be sent home with no answers just a terrible headache, high blood pressure and a mind full of worries. They did no test and I went home still in pain. They offered me no medications or anything. THIS IS THE WORSE HOSPITAL IVE EVER BEEN TO!!!!

Very furious about what happened to me there, I was straped down to a bed at the behavioral health unit. Then a worker proceeded to assault me and threaten my family while I was strapped down.

Accepted Insurance

Saint Joseph Medical Center works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient

Clients in outpatient rehab receive a variety of services based on their unique and evolving needs. Typical outpatient treatment modalities include individual, group, and family counseling, recovery-focused life skills training, and community reintegration support. Many programs also provide medication assisted treatment (MAT) for clients recovering from alcohol and/or opioid dependency. Clients exiting inpatient treatment or those who are at an elevated risk of relapse may engage in more robust treatment, such as intensive outpatient (IOP) programming.

inpatient iconInpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Intensive outpatient programs (IOP) enable clients to receive high-level care while living at home. Clients may choose to enter IOP instead of enrolling in inpatient care post-detox or they may transition from an inpatient rehab into IOP. Intensive outpatient treatment involves multiple therapeutic sessions per week and includes a combination of psychotherapy and addiction and recovery education. Many programs also offer medication assisted treatment (MAT) and/or holistic therapies, such as acupuncture and massage.

24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care

Addiction treatment often begins with 24-hour clinical care in Illinois. This supervised setting is the best environment for detox.where medical staff can provide 24/7 supervision and responsive care as your body is cleansed of addictive substances. Doctors may prescribe antagonist and partial agonist drugs to counteract the effects of drugs or alcohol, or they may slowly taper down dosages of substances to end physical dependence on the drug.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

During the medically supervised detox process, licensed medical professionals monitor your vitals and administer medications meant to help alleviate the physical symptoms of withdrawal. The process can take between five and seven days, although the actual length depends on your individual needs. In most cases, medically assisted detox is partially, if not fully, covered by insurance.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

If you engage in cognitive behavioral therapy in Illinois, your therapist will work with you to change your thinking patterns. You'll learn how to recognize faulty thinking and develop skills to deal with stress without using substances.

Dialectical behavior therapy in Illinois typically involves keeping a diary to track actions and emotions. Your therapist will use this diary to determine what to focus on during each session. In addition to individual sessions, you'll also attend group meetings where you are trained in coping skills.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Motivational interviewing in Illinois is person centered and collaborative. This method allows the therapist to come alongside the client to address the issue of ambivalence toward change. By listening and reflecting, the therapist helps the client see the need for change and commit to making changes.

Trauma therapy provides you with a safe and supportive environment so you can address a traumatic experience. Your therapist helps guide you to understand your emotional, mental, and physical responses while developing healthier coping skills. This helps to improve your emotional resilience and ability to function in the community.

During couples therapy in Illinois, you may work on a variety of relationship challenges. Couples therapy can address topics such as finances, children, health, addiction, intimacy, external stressors, and family relationships. You'll develop tools to address these types of challenges in healthy ways.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Blonde heart ultrasound sound tech has the worst attitude! You’re helping sick patients and gonna walk in the room saying “ men are always my biggest babies” and then stereotype my brother. I ended that real quick and she was better after that but that’s now how you walk in treating a patient. Gonna treat all men rude because you think there babies? Unprofessional I wish I had your name fr

I would pick St. Joseph hospital ANY DAY over Silver Cross!!!!! When coming out of recovery, I had a PTSD attack & the nurses their handled it very kindly & effectively w/o any drugs. At Silver Cross they immediately jumped into injecting me with drugs & shipped me off to Silver Oaks!!!!!! I'm ALREADY in a doctor's care for my PTSD & they NEVER notified her that they kidnapped me! My PTSD was worse than ever after leaving that place. Stick with St. Joe's if you value your life!!!!!

Response from the owner
We’re glad to hear that our team at Saint Joseph Hospital was able to provide kind and effective care during your recovery. Patient safety and compassionate support are our top priorities, and we appreciate your recognition of our staff’s dedication.

This regarding billing and payment. I have made 8 calls to Customer Service regarding bill payment from my husband's bill from over a year ago and my bill from late last year. After NOT getting statements in the mail, I made the mistake of making online payments. I set up a payment plan online then decided to pay 2 bills in full. The system still took out the monthly payment on those 2 accounts. I have made calls to get the status of getting the money refunded. It was "escalated". I was supposed to get a call in 24-48 hours. No call. Called again today. A request for escalation or status was being sent again. Told to call back in 7-10 days. To say that I am frustrated is an understatement. I was told that I cannot talk to anyone else besides the person answering the phone. I was told that I cannot get an email update. Just call back in 7-10 days. Again and again and again.

Response from the owner
We are truly sorry for the difficulties you have experienced with your billing and payment concerns. We understand how challenging repeated calls without resolution can be, and we are committed to addressing this matter promptly. Please feel free to contact our billing department directly at 833-272-7581. so, we can assist you further.

The 2 times I have been to this ER and hospital was only because this is the closest to my house via EMS, otherwise I would not have gone on my own. This has to be one of the worst hospitals I've ever been to. They don't communicate to let you know what's going on, the majority of the nurses are without compassion, the doctors seem disconnected. What they tell you and what they do are 2 different things. You are left alone by unconcerned staff that should know their responsibilites as a 'care taker'. I will suffer in pain before I ever come back!!!!

Response from the owner

The new owners have improved the ER efficiency and my wife spent less than 8 hours in the ER on 9/21/25 before getting into her own room. My complaints today are equipment related and COVID protocol. The new owners replaced all the IV infusion pumps with ones made by Braun which are so sensitive the alarms go off with little to no arm movement and requires a nurse to reset it. St. Joe’s like most hospitals in the US is lacking staff so you can wait as much as 90 minutes (Yes, it was 45 minutes then 60 minutes and the current record is 90 minutes) with a loud obnoxious alarm going off which can make even a normal person crazy! Please get rid of these pumps and go back to the old ones that worked! Also, get ones with a volume control, I’m hearing impaired and the Braun models are way too loud. When the alarm goes off it stops pumping so a 4 hour IV can turn into a 6.5 hour IV with all the delays, meaning you’re barely getting the Antibiotics you need! COVID protocol means patients pay for services they do not receive, ie: 1-The room is not cleaned so the trash cans fill up. 2-Food is delivered to the floor and makes it into the room half the time and is usually ice cold. The empty trays pile up in the room. 3-Bedding is only changed by family members. This all happens because only the doctors and nurses enter the room. Also, protocol is a retest every 7 days. That is unacceptable considering some doctors refer to current COVID as the new common cold. I apologize for not mentioning the nursing staff we love who should be only responsible for your medical needs. They are clearly out numbered and doing a very good job under difficult circumstances, so putting cleaning, food delivery and linen changing on their to do list is not fair to them. Please retest COVID daily instead of every 7 days so people responsible for those tasks can return to their jobs and let the nurses go back to doing what they do so well when given the chance. Husband of current patient

Response from the owner
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re pleased to hear that your wife was admitted to her room promptly and truly appreciate your kind words about our nursing staff. We’re sorry to learn about the issues you faced with the IV equipment and COVID-related protocols. Your concerns are important to us and will be shared with the relevant teams to help improve our services. If you’d like to discuss this further, please feel free to reach out to us at kkuyawa@primehealthcare.com.

wish i cud give zero stars, avoid this hospital at all costs! went to the ER, the patient rooms are being remodeled so they had ALL OF US in 1 room!! there was a woman vomiting non stop, the staff's solution was to put her on a chair and ignore her the entire time. they then had another patient SIT IN THE SAME CHAIR the woman had been vomiting all over, it was not even cleaned. disgusting. most of us left because staff ignored us. my dr told me he couldn't find anything wrong, thank you for telling me 8 hours later. this hospital is a joke

Response from the owner
