About Talbert Health Center

Cascadia Health’s Talbert Health Center is an outpatient drug and alcohol treatment center for adults. They treat addiction and co-occurring mental health disorders and offer medication supported recovery (MSR) for individuals with methamphetamine or opioid addiction.

The health center is in Clackamas, Oregon. Clients can pay for services using some private insurance plans. They accept Oregon Health Plan (Medicaid) and have an income based sliding fee scale for uninsured clients. The facility is near the Clackamas Town Center, a major community hub and shopping area.

Gambling Addiction Treatment Services

One of the unique services I noticed at this clinic is the gambling addiction treatment. Gambling is an addiction similar to other addictions, but not all centers offer treatment.

This center offers free treatment for individuals with gambling issues. They also offer support to those who have been affected by a loved one’s gambling problems. The program equips clients with the skills they need to take back control of their lives.

Primary Care Access

To help clients maintain overall health, the center offers primary care services. You can get assistance with chronic disease management, family planning, labs and hospital follow up services. Instead of getting your mental health and addiction treatment in one place and primary care in another, you can receive both services under one roof.

Crisis Intervention in Clackamas, Oregon

The organization offers several options for individuals with a behavioral health crisis. They have a mobile team, as well as several crisis resources throughout the area.

The library crisis services provide a connection to mental health support and free resources to library patrons throughout the Portland metro area. The team is available at the entrance to the Central Library and also visits other metro branches. The team includes peer specialists and mental health clinicians.

There’s an urgent walk-in clinic in Portland that offers crisis counseling. They refer individuals for substance use treatment, have psychiatric prescriber services and connect people to resources within the community.

Don’t go here if you take regular meds. They can’t keep refills flowing. Every month I’m without my meds for days at a time. My pharmacy is literally telling me I should find a better clinic. Used to be a great clinic but it’s gone to crap.

Very upset with my experience here, Dr dube was amazing but when I asked for the prescription refill for a simple anxiety medication celexa he wrote it down wrong. Upon trying to get it refilled again it was still messed up, and now this month trying to get it refilled again it takes at least 4 days for the technicians to give you a call back. I'm having to go back to there tomorrow and it is out of my way and the parking is atrocious. If you can get through to them the help is amazing but the lack of communication and consistency is absolutely appalling.

Definitely the worst I've ever dealt with. Getting a refill of anything is like pulling teeth. Good luck with these guys.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Pretty new location. All the groups are for recovery except for one, which I appreciate attending. The person running it is very capable and accommodating. The culture of the people here is different than in Portland, which took some getting used to. This location just opened up a wellness room with laundry machines, which I have packed all my stuff up to visit TWICE and been turned away both times - first due to the single person running it calling out sick halfway through their shift (which I wasn't notified of even though I had called ahead), and the second time due to them not allowing the washing of bedding. I had spoken with the front desk as well as the wellness supervisor and he even gave me a tour and yet left out that detail. I keep wasting my time trying to make use of the resources here. There is just not good enough communication. Hopefully this is just growing pains of adding a new resource, but this resource is modeled after the Garlington clinic so there's already some model policies in place. The parking situation is not great. Loading and unloading laundry is going to be a huge pain if you don't have a disabled parking permit. Most spots in the parking garage are difficult to access if you do not have a very small vehicle. The bathrooms have nowhere to put your stuff. Even the sink is too curved around the edge to hold a water bottle. So I end up either putting my stuff on the floor or stashing it in the waiting room. If you're going here, I suggest calling ahead to confirm that your group or resource is indeed available before making the trip. Be prepared to walk a block and possibly use stairs if you park upper level. They have a nice water dispenser. I find the air conditioning to be too cold, but the other members of my group have no complaints.
