Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Clients typically enter inpatient rehab after they complete detox. Inpatient care is also designed for clients who are experiencing a crisis and are at an increased risk of relapse. Clients reside at the treatment center for the duration of their program. Clients engage in intensive addiction counseling, often using CBT, DBT, RBT, motivational interviewing or other proven modalities. Many inpatient rehabs offer recovery-focused life skills training. Evidence-based complementary therapies, such as meditation and yoga, may be included.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Withdrawal from alcohol and drugs can be uncomfortable - even dangerous - without the proper medical supervision. The safest way to remove addictive substances from your body is with a medically supervised detox where a team of on-site medical professionals can monitor your health and progress 24/7, then administer medications (like Suboxone or Vivitrol) if necessary to mitigate symptoms of withdrawal.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug addiction is defined as an inability to stop using drugs even though it causes negative consequences in your life. Drug rehab in Minnesota provides treatment for drug addiction in a variety of settings including inpatient treatment and outpatient treatment.

The Dual Diagnosis Program teaches clients how addiction issues affect mental illness. This program is available to residential and full-day outpatient clients. Various therapists specialize in DBT, chronic pain management, ADD/ADHD, co-dependency, eating disorders and dual disorders.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Therapists often use cognitive behavioral therapy in Minnesota to treat substance use disorders because it can help clients quickly identify challenges and ways to cope with them. Its structured, specific methods require fewer sessions than other types of therapy.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Counseling is professional guidance to help a person, family, or group of individuals recognize and deal with issues that are interfering with their mental well-being. Counseling involves regular meetings (sessions) with a qualified counselor, such as a psychiatrist, psychologist, licensed professional counselor, or clinical social worker. Counseling, which may also be called psychotherapy or therapy, can be done on an individual, family, or group basis.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Couples therapy in Minnesota can help you understand yourself and your partner better and identify the issues causing stress in the relationship. From finances to addiction to children, you'll learn skills to deal with various stressors and strengthen your relationship.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

Recreational therapy supports addiction recovery by giving you enjoyable activities that improve your overall well being. Treatment centers may include team sports, arts and crafts, or outdoor activities to help reduce your cravings, alleviate stress, and build a supportive community network that helps maintain long term sobriety.

I was having a lot of complications yesterday due to a urinary tract infection so severe i was urinating out blood that I thought may have been something serious when it got worse before it got better and I was a bit leery about going to the hospital because a few of past my experiences were okay but not the best, as well as not so good experiences i have seen and heard frim others, however, I have to say I'm very thankful for all the doctors and nurses there as well as the EMTs that brought me by ambulance as they got me in right away and took great care of me while I was debilitated yesterday and they got me to where I could function and at least gave me extra fluids because even with the extra that I was drinking at home wasn't enough to push things through. I do have an infection and it sounds like the antibiotics will take care of clearing it up and I'm feeling better than I was yesterday. I am definitely thankful for the great care that I got yesterday, I have to say that St Cloud Hospital has gotten more on top of things. I can imagine that times they get busy cause a trauma hospital and do the best they can but I definitely have to say I'm very thankful for the amazing care that I received yesterday! It's definitely scary and upcoming in an ambulance especially when a person isn't feeling well and I'm definitely thankful but they were able to get to the bottom of things!

The nurses are rude and treat you like your nobody. Most the nurses have an attitude. The Dr's even have attitudes. On 3 different occasions I've contacted this hospital to speak with someone and I get the normal song and dance of them saying what they think you want to hear to get you to shut up cause they can't simply just do as they were asked and lie to you on the phone. Been waiting almost 3 weeks for a call back and I've yet to receive one. This place just simply don't care about anyone.

Last night my husband got an ambulance ride from clearlake and for chest pains and he was brought in at 915pm .. they then proceeded to put him in the waiting room instead of in the back where he continued having pains and was incoherent we did not get a room until 115am which is ridiculous for him coming in in an ambulance especially. The front desk lady was nice she has blonde hair and she had a brown coat on and the lady who did the vitals in the box was nice the Ambulance lady who brought him in honestly was kind of a witch. Kind of rude like like scoffy but the tall ambulance man he was nice the blonde lady that did the ekg I wanna say her name was selene maybe she was ok but also had like a "really" attitude but she was okay .. and then we finally got back the registration nurse was friendly don't remember her name we were in room 29 the doctor was nice I believe his name was dr. Tyler and the nurse was really nice as well his name was hunter maybe I'm assuming cause that's what it said on the board in the room. They did care for him but we don't believe bronchitis caused what happened last night.. we are waiting on a tilt table so hopefully we'll be getting answers soon to what's going on. But I do want to give credit for the doctors and the front desk for being patient with my husband and nice. Accept for the witchy ambulance lady. But I also want to put out that people who come in through ambulance should have priority like it was before and not sit on the waiting room for for 4 hours while your chest is on fire and can't breathe .. and also the blonde hair who did his xray last night was really nice as well and the new system with bring ambulance patients into the waiting room boxes is weird it should be like before where they go to the mini rooms in the back by the trauma bay.

My boyfriend was there to be seen for his lupus and every single nurse would treat him like he was nothing refuse to give him his meds when needed refuses to flush his IV which will cause an infection your hospital is worthless no one there is polite maybe you should hire people that actually care about there job and that want to help save people's lives. He was already told he has a blood infection and your stupid nurses think its a good idea to not flush his IV saying oh it'll cause an infection if we flush it bullsh** half my family works at hospitals my cousin hes also a dr in CA and says that's outrageous and unprofessional.

This is by far the worst place to go, you can't call their main number without being given attitude all the time. You can't get in B4 a 4 hr wait time due to every samo thinking a nose drip needs attention. All their Dr need to Google almost everything just to look something up, their security staff is another issue where they think they are cops demand answers to questions as if you need to give them answers when they your not police. I mean 4 hrs is a bit excessive and yet you go to Monticello and your in and out with great service in less than 2 hrs. St Cloud your shit and need to close.

If you have to take your loved one here, make sure someone is always present. We got a call early morning stating our mom wasn't doing well. We got there and she was on oxygen with the machine going off alerting it was dropping. Absolutely no one around. Found 2 ppl in scrubs walking by and they entered her room and didn't know what to do. A worker, not sure of credentials, came in and said lucky he was walking by. Had a hard time getting the bipap on and meanwhile my mom is grasping for air with no pain meds or morphine. Nurse finally came in and said she was busy with another situation. Slowly reduced oxygen once meds administered. My mom was still hanging on so the nurse ripped the oxygen off her without asking or telling us. I should sue this place for neglect!!! What a horrible way way to see a loved one pass.
