Buffalo, MN | Lakeside Academy is a faith based residential treatment program in Buffalo, Minnesota serving adolescent boys ages 13 to 18 who are struggling with substance use and behavioral issues. The program addresses a variety of substance use disorders through counseling and experiential therapies in a structured supervised environment. Rooted in Christian | Treatments Programs Payment Options | We are so grateful to Lakeside Academy for helping us get back on track with our son, twice. He struggled for years with behavioral challenges and defiance that were exacerbated by cannabis addiction in high school. He has also been in other treatment programs that were good, but the longer-term aspect of Lakeside Academy's program is important for adolescents.
The care team and setting at LA were supportive and safe. He learned so many valuable skills through DBT therapy, reflections, group, and one on one sessions with his care team, counselors, and recovery coaches. They were all incredibly kind and caring human beings. We can't thank them enough. There are also plenty of field trips and activities.
As a parent, it's a hard decision to choose a long-term care option for your struggling child and it was the best decision we've made. We had peace of mind knowing he was safe in good hands, and we were supported to heal and grow too.
The second time through, our son graduated high-school and graduated from the Lakeside program. We are so proud of him. He fought going back and about three months into it (both times) he leaned into the process and chose to continue even after his 18th birthday and finished strong. We are all at a much better place than when he started. We've learned that what happens after the program is equally important in long-term sobriety success. There's a small halo effect with treatment and the journey continues beyond the program completion.
Lakeside is one of the top treatment programs for teen boys in the country.

Our son was heavily addicted to cannabis and was dealing with urgent adolescence behavioral issues, Lakeside Academy's long term program has helped our son to manage sober living, and taught him valuable skills to cope with his behavioral challenges. Their holistic and well balanced program that encompasses spiritual health, mental health, cognitive and physical health is extremely well suited and provides one of the best long term care programs available in the country. Lakeside's entire care team and staff provide exemplary care, empathy, patience, expertise and love to all their patients which played a very important role in our son's recovery and wellbeing. Lakeside's program also provides parents useful skills and strategies to help to deal with ongoing sober living and mental wellbeing for their sons. I would highly recommend Lakeside academy's program.

I do not even know where to begin.
It all started when my son had to do distant learning in sixth grade because of Covid. He was super excited to be in middle school and then after seventh grade in person again started going down a bad road with nicotine vapes and marijuana and alcohol and throughout the years, it just spiraled and went out of control, and then he had legal charges and some false accusations all because he was under the influence of marijuana and alcohol one night and that night changed his life. I didn’t know where to bring him because that summer I brought him to the hospital and then a couple week inpatient treatment center and then they released him out into the wild again and it was no help and it just got worse after that. I did my research for a while and then I found Lakeside Academy I looked at the reviews and it was Christian based and I was all for it.
it took me a while to get him enrolled. I dragged my feet because I didn’t wanna lose my son. I felt like I was gonna lose my son, but looking back at it now if I didn’t bring him to Lakeside Academy , I would’ve completely lost my son in the wrong way like something tragic would’ve happened if I didn’t get him the help that he needed. I brought him into Lakeside Academy January 9, 2025 and he graduated 362 days later and finished the program. It took him 7 almost 8 months to finally not fight about him wanting to get pulled out early. I would not recommend pulling your son out early no matter what!! this program is a Godsend!! I appreciate every Staff from the care team to the school teachers to the mental health worker to the really sweet ladies that prepare them meals at Lakeside Academy . I am so thankful for them each and everyone I feel it was a miracle for my son’s life. He went in there an immature little boy and he graduated a young man. He was super skinny when he went in and he came out healthy and he grew half an inch and gained 30 pounds and is really respectful and he has a passion to help others and he has a relationship with Jesus Christ now before he wanted nothing to do with Church and now he’s planning to go on a missions trip with his youth group to Mexico this year and I’m so thankful in every way that Lakeside helped my son with mental health help and substance use and going to church and him meeting people along the journey that he could relate to and keep in touch with. I would recommend Lakeside Academy 100% to everyone I know that needed a place like this for their adolescence. Thank you so much for everything that you do Lakeside Academy you guys will forever be in my heart. I appreciate everything!!

The care that has been received has been what we have intended to be. The customer service of the front desk/appointment schedulers. It is awkward most of the time. Bunnie is great, but the rest is short, not proper etiquette while having clients on the phone. They make sound like the appointment is a burden. Otherwise the care is great.

The nutritionist there is HORRIBLE. I personally am lactose intolerant and when I was admitted my liver was bad, so I needed a diet tailored to helping me recover. She told me if I can’t find anything to just eat from the salad bar. I stood my ground and she let the kitchen staff know I was lactose intolerant and couldn’t eat fried stuff but that is ridiculous I should not have to argue with her. Then my roommate had ARFID so she needed dietary help, and the nutritionist told her to eat bread. That’s a sad and pathetic excuse for a nutritionist. Staffs great but they should certainly fire her.

Back than that place really helped me out. They were so patient with me, they gave me the opportunity to get whatever I want out of it.

I can't say enough good things about Transformation House. My experience here was a night and day difference from my previous treatment center. My counselor was incredible – so empathetic and understanding, which made it easier to be honest and work through things. The entire staff genuinely cares about your well-being. It's clear they're not just going through the motions.
What I appreciated most was that they focused on helping me find the right path forward, even after I left. The outpatient program they connected me with was fantastic. Today, I'm proud to say I've graduated, I'm in college, I have a job, and most importantly, I have my kids back in my life.
My advice to anyone going to Transformation House is to be honest with yourself and your counselor, and truly commit to the process. Stop making excuses and put in the work – they will meet you where you are and provide the support you need. I also built some strong connections with the other women there. The staff creates a supportive environment, but ultimately, your willingness to change is key. Transformation House truly changed my life, and I'm incredibly grateful for how far I've come.

Elk River, MN | Riverplace Counseling Center is based in Anoka and Elk River, Minnesota. They have intensive outpatient programs for adult men who have substance abuse issues. Lodging is available in both locations, if needed. The program is divided into different phases that descale as you progress. There’s also a program for court ordered clients. At the Anok | Treatments Programs Payment Options | I completed this program back in 2008. Absolutely wonderful doctors, councilors, and staff members. The patients I witnessed coming through those doors, came in broken and really sick from a wide variety of medical issues (mostly addiction related). By the time they left, they were healthy, happier, and had sufficient tools to make a full recovery.
I was young and impressionable when I entered their program. The individual care and the loving nature of the staff made the environment warm, comfortable, & safe. I was impressed with how honesty was received there. It was received with open hearts, without fear of judgment or negative criticism. The staff recognized each of us as unique individuals that held great value to society. So many (if not everyone) of us felt worthless and hopeless for the way our culture looks at those who suffer from the progressive and life threatening disease of addiction. Their respect stood out to me and is the primary reason I found the courage to change my life. They also understood the deep suffering that addiction causes and went to any length to help us feel accepted and cared for.
The medical professionals employed there taught us how to live a life of gratitude with purpose. To this day I am still eternally grateful for my experience there.
I would recommend River Place Counciling Center in Elk River MN to anyone who is seeking to heal and recover. Doesn’t matter from what either. What matters is that you show up.
A quick tidbit: I learned all of facts in my journey there. One of them is that our culture is based on materialism and individualism. Which both are the enemies of our soul and the common denominator of our brokenness. It creates division, isolation, and fear. Once I truly understood that, I was never the same. I continued my journey in AA which led to meeting true friends that want the best for me. It also led to a spiritual experience that changed my life forever. There is so much healing, joy, and laughter in recovery, it’s wonderful to experience.
I want to tell the person reading this one very important thing —> Don’t you give up. There is a lot of help and happiness in your future. All you have to do is pick up the phone and call them. You’ll find an army of caring and loving souls excited to meet you. You are unique, strong, smart, talented, and deserve to be treated with respect and dignity in your journey of recovery. 🙏🏼❤️

Dr. Stacy Hockett,
I want you to know that when I got COVID and my physical health was deteriorating, and I was losing weight rapidly due to the post-COVID and COVID symptoms that I still currently have, no other doctor had ever helped me or offered their hand and service while I was struggling and feeling afraid that I would continue to deteriorate and my health would spiral downward, and I felt like I had no ability to control it. All other doctors and physicians outside of Fairview, such as Allina Health, failed me. But when I made the choice to see Dr. Stacy Hockett, I had never, ever made a better choice in my life. This doctor is absolutely amazing.
Not only is he patient, kind, merciful, and humanistic, but he is also very good at solving problems. He has been with me through thick and thin, and I refuse to see another provider other than him for my most concerning health needs. He’s always been prompt with getting back to me, he is lightning-fast in his responses, and he makes me feel heard, protected, and safe. I’ve never really had the pleasure of saying this to a doctor while also admiring the passion that he puts into his work, the empathy that he has for people, and the hard work that he has done for me to make me feel whole, safe, and heard.
He has never dismissed me; he’s always been nice, kind, and supportive. Never has he said no to me regarding my concerns and my grievances about my health. He has always opted to solve any condition that I have vigorously, not batting an eye when it comes to serving his patients. He is a great, admirable doctor.
I would advise anyone who is struggling mentally or physically, especially with COVID symptoms, to seek help from Dr. Stacy Hockett. You will never regret this decision in your life. It’s been years that I’ve been seeing him, and I will never change primary care doctors. I trust in the integrity of his work, and he has made this place a wonderful place because of his work ethic, his honesty, and his respect for privacy.
I wish him all the luck, all the peace, all the wealth, and all the happiness that the world can give this person, because he has brought me nothing except peace and happiness. He has made me a better person, because if it weren’t for his help, I would still be stagnant, weak, and feeling crippled. He has changed my life forever and left a meaningful impact, and if he didn’t know this, he knows it now.
From the years since he first helped me to today, he has always been the person that I have most deeply appreciated, and I will always admire him. He will always have a special place in my heart for how he treated me with kindness, compassion, and mercy, never dismissing me.
I pray you are always protected, Dr. Stacy Hockett.
Fairview Please raise his pay, please keep him in your network; I love Fairview but I love Dr Stacy more; If he leaves I’ll switch networks. That’s the lasting impression he leaves on patients. Please know how much respect his patients like me have.
He’s the best and may god always continue to elevate him. Thank you for protecting me when I was at my lowest when no one else did. I’ll never forget you.

The Detox Facility helped me get sober, and they let me stay an extra day to get into Teen Challenge for Treatment! I then switched from Teen Challenge Inpatient to their Outpatient Program, and Mission Lodge let me move into their Sober Living Facility. They helped with all of the paperwork needed and I cannot say enough good things about them and their Staff! It is by the grace of GOD that I found them and I am happy to report that I now have 2 months sober, and my wife came back to me! She visits every day now, and we are setting up Family Counseling next week! Thank you, Mission Lodge and Detox!

They are able to treat chemical dependency and co-occurring disorders through individual, group and family counseling. Prairie House Recovery Center is located at Monticello, Minnesota. Prairie House Recovery Center provides substance abuse treatment and | Treatments Programs Payment Options | Choosing to go to Newport Institute in Monticello, MN was one of the hardest — and best — decisions I’ve ever made. From the moment I arrived, I felt like I was in a space where healing was not only possible but expected. The staff truly care and go above and beyond to meet each person where they’re at, with compassion, structure, and an understanding that recovery isn't linear.
What stood out to me the most was how personalized everything was. The treatment wasn’t cookie-cutter. My team actually listened — to my story, my needs, and even the things I wasn’t able to say yet. From individual therapy and group work to experiential therapies and life skills, every piece felt intentional and supportive.
The environment itself also contributed so much to my healing. It’s peaceful, clean, and feels more like a safe home than a hospital. I also formed some of the most meaningful connections with peers — people who understood what I was going through and were walking beside me in the journey.
Of course, healing doesn’t end when you leave, but Newport gave me tools, insight, and strength that I still carry with me. I walked out with more self-awareness, better coping strategies, and, most importantly, hope.
If you or someone you love is struggling, I truly believe Newport can be a life-changing place!

Great, staff and counselors. The owner is great, Brandon is great, Ben is great. And Lisa M is such a wonderful counselor and I can go to her for anything. I can go to any of the staff for anything I'm going through or for any problems and they will always be welcoming and kind. This place saved my life by helping me get sober! Highly recommend. Best methadone clinic and cleanest methadone clinic in the Twin Cities and surrounding areas!

June 12th was a very scary day for me, and I couldn’t be more thankful for all of the employees at Mercy ER, on call OBGYN and OR employees who came to work ready to do what they are trained for. They saved my life but did so with kindness, and a holistic approach. Forever grateful!
