Everything is done in a timely fashion. I don’t have to call but once to get an appointment, it’s easy to access my therapist and so far the customer service has been great. I like my therapist she’s thoughtful and listens to what I say. She has helped me with sleeping meds, which I really appreciate.

Elk River, MN | Riverplace Counseling Center is based in Anoka and Elk River, Minnesota. They have intensive outpatient programs for adult men who have substance abuse issues. Lodging is available in both locations, if needed. The program is divided into different phases that descale as you progress. There’s also a program for court ordered clients. At the Anok | Treatments Programs Payment Options | I completed this program back in 2008. Absolutely wonderful doctors, councilors, and staff members. The patients I witnessed coming through those doors, came in broken and really sick from a wide variety of medical issues (mostly addiction related). By the time they left, they were healthy, happier, and had sufficient tools to make a full recovery.
I was young and impressionable when I entered their program. The individual care and the loving nature of the staff made the environment warm, comfortable, & safe. I was impressed with how honesty was received there. It was received with open hearts, without fear of judgment or negative criticism. The staff recognized each of us as unique individuals that held great value to society. So many (if not everyone) of us felt worthless and hopeless for the way our culture looks at those who suffer from the progressive and life threatening disease of addiction. Their respect stood out to me and is the primary reason I found the courage to change my life. They also understood the deep suffering that addiction causes and went to any length to help us feel accepted and cared for.
The medical professionals employed there taught us how to live a life of gratitude with purpose. To this day I am still eternally grateful for my experience there.
I would recommend River Place Counciling Center in Elk River MN to anyone who is seeking to heal and recover. Doesn’t matter from what either. What matters is that you show up.
A quick tidbit: I learned all of facts in my journey there. One of them is that our culture is based on materialism and individualism. Which both are the enemies of our soul and the common denominator of our brokenness. It creates division, isolation, and fear. Once I truly understood that, I was never the same. I continued my journey in AA which led to meeting true friends that want the best for me. It also led to a spiritual experience that changed my life forever. There is so much healing, joy, and laughter in recovery, it’s wonderful to experience.
I want to tell the person reading this one very important thing —> Don’t you give up. There is a lot of help and happiness in your future. All you have to do is pick up the phone and call them. You’ll find an army of caring and loving souls excited to meet you. You are unique, strong, smart, talented, and deserve to be treated with respect and dignity in your journey of recovery. 🙏🏼❤️

With any institution trying to implement a broad program for individuals, there are bound to be issues. With that being said, my time at HBF Plymouth was invaluable. I especially want to mention Mary the psychologist & counselors Sara and Cozi on the Pioneer Unit. Advocacy is a huge part of individual recovery, and I was especially encouraged by these three to ask for what I need when I need it. It works if you work it!

My journey in recovery began just over 10 yrs ago. When I went to my first treatment center, I wasn't even old enough to legally drink. I have been to 4x different rehabs on 6x occasions. I have both years long periods of sobriety and of relapse. Vinland is the most complete program I have ever been able to experience. It is exactly what I needed.
I do believe that one's environment can influence their experience, eg the qualities of a treatment facility; it's staff, programming, and faculty etc, but perhaps more important of a factor when it comes to success is the attitude one brings into that environment. Vinland provided me with what I needed to heal. In my daily groups, I was exposed to a variety of treatment models/lenses: cbt, dbt, AA, NA, fitness, nutrition, literary analysis and sports psych., faith, science, games, discussion, etc and even riddles (s/o Angie 2.) Ie various philosophies both modern and ancient. This team goes out of their way to support your unique needs whether you are ready to believe in yourself or not. I have found that those willing to recover and change often do so more than those who do not believe change to be worthwhile, ie the only thing in your way is you, and even then they have your back... so imo it is clinically foolish to suggest otherwise in most instances. Each of my 52 days, I was met with various individuals willing to go out of their way to make sure I felt seen and cared for, which necessarily included being held accountable and challenged.
No environment or attitude is perfect. Improvement can always be made. I do however believe it is ridiculous to portray Vinland as an obstacle to recovery. I think those people who blame Vinland for their negative experience are confusing it with what is likely more of an internal shortcoming, ie most if not all claims of neglect, indifference, incompetence etc average out as irrational. I found nearly all staff at Vinland to be exceptionally caring and competent. I was also blessed to be surrounded by incredible peers. I found strength here and I will forever be grateful for these connections. Thank you in particular to Molly, Murph (Human), Lauren, Hannah, Austin, Janina, Jeff, Allana, Elle, Kayla, Mary, Sherri, Erin, Mick, Connie, Amanda & even Bernie's unruly ass too, B.D. Ben, Angie 1, Angie 2, Tanya & Copper, Murphy (Dog), Romney (species unknown) and Kirsten.

I can't say enough good things about Transformation House. My experience here was a night and day difference from my previous treatment center. My counselor was incredible – so empathetic and understanding, which made it easier to be honest and work through things. The entire staff genuinely cares about your well-being. It's clear they're not just going through the motions.
What I appreciated most was that they focused on helping me find the right path forward, even after I left. The outpatient program they connected me with was fantastic. Today, I'm proud to say I've graduated, I'm in college, I have a job, and most importantly, I have my kids back in my life.
My advice to anyone going to Transformation House is to be honest with yourself and your counselor, and truly commit to the process. Stop making excuses and put in the work – they will meet you where you are and provide the support you need. I also built some strong connections with the other women there. The staff creates a supportive environment, but ultimately, your willingness to change is key. Transformation House truly changed my life, and I'm incredibly grateful for how far I've come.

Minneapolis, MN | Based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Mercy Hospital Unity Campus provides mental health and substance abuse services to adults and teens from all walks of life, regardless of race, gender, or ethnicity. I think it’s great that Mercy Hospital provides treatment and support to teens as well as adults since so often centers focus their efforts on the ad | Treatments Programs Payment Options | This facility and their program is amazing and saved my life. I have been in this program 4 times I believe. This is not because the program was ineffective but because I was battling a lifetime of issues. The staff is like family to me, they genuinely care and they played a huge role in changing my life. I also participated in their aftercare programs PHP/ partial hospitalization program and the step down program from that was the AMHOP/ adult mental health outpatient program. These were also very effective and a key factor in my rehabilitation. After care is so important, although this was stressed when I was completing my treatment plan I did not take advantage of these services the first few times I completed the inpatient program. However after completing both after care programs, I understood the importance and have been able to maintain my mental health and sobriety. Most everyone dealing with addiction knows 9.8/10, we are self medicating dealing with severe underlying mental health issues. So addressing both issues at the same time was definitely what the missing piece to the puzzle. I highly recommend Mercy Hospital Unity Campus! Oh I didn’t mention the food and beds, way better than any other facility I have been to! I could go on and on about the many positive attributes, but I won’t. Went in a mess 16 beers a day extremely thirsty so I drank more beer. I wasn't passing water because my liver was so scarred and imflamed. Thought I would putz and brought projects but they allow nothing inside. Hardly books either because of hiding drugs.
It wasn't long before I was aprt of a group of zombies milling about. Having to go get blood pressure checks etc. I wanted to be alone and meditate. Easy to get used to this carefree life. Most take advantage all agreeable to the BS to stay longer. The walls started to close in and I left after 3 days. I only have GOD to thank. But I needed to know I could not drink and live. Very hard but now I'm not afraid and I don't want so much. You have to decide.. I jonesd for cigarettes more than beer.

They've helped me quite a bit in my recovery, honestly methadone saved my life. I have over a year of sobriety now and they actually help you taper down and are super supportive unlike other clinics that tend to recommend you stay on it instead of creating a plan. Though it's okay if somebody is on it for the rest of their lives if it's what keeps them clean and safe it even just for harm reduction purposes. They also offer harm reduction services, test kits etc. I have been on MAT for 6+ years here and at 170mg and am almost done with my taper. I'm currently at 15mg and have been able to safely taper and with education on what to expect and support through it. The nurses are great, S/O Michelle, Whitney, Amber, and Jamie for always being so kind and helpful and keeping it real with us and listening when I was struggling. Y'all are what the recovery world needs. Along with both PAs they have, Shelley you've been a wonderful doctor to me. And to both my counselors, Akin, Anne, and Evelyn. Thanks for being a part of my story. 🖤

Just wanted to leave a review and talk about the fantastic experience I’ve had Dr. Justin Santos! I came in and talked about some issues I’d been having. He listened to me, came up with a plan to help me out, and I’m doing so much better now because of it! The whole process was explained simply for me and was so much easier than other healthcare experiences I’ve had in the past. He’s a great doctor, extremely professional and knows his stuff!
