About Glenbeigh Hospital

Glenbeigh is a nonprofit specialty hospital that focuses primarily on treating individuals with alcohol and drug dependencies. They’re located in Rock Creek, Ohio and offer a variety of services to help people on their recovery journey. They provide inpatient services, outpatient services, specialized programs, and even recovery housing for their clients.

Multiple Levels of Care for Many Populations

When you begin your recovery journey, their inpatient program offers medication-assisted detox to help ease withdrawal from drugs or alcohol. They also incorporate cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, motivational interviewing, and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing. If you have a co-occurring condition—meaning mental health issues alongside substance misuse—they provide treatment for that as well.

Their outpatient program offers more flexibility for those who cannot commit to inpatient care due to work or school obligations. They also provide intensive outpatient programs, partial hospitalization programs and continuing care options for your long term recovery.

Their recovery housing offers a safe and structured environment, helping individuals build a sense of community and accountability with others in the program. I find their specialized services to be unique too because they offer specific programs for first responders, helping professionals, older adults and business executives.

Accepted Insurance

Glenbeigh Hospital works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Financing your treatment can make treatment more accessible. You'll work with your care provider to set up payment plans, including interest rates and repayment timelines. Financing options vary widely and not all programs offer them, so be sure to get the full details before enrolling in treatment. If you have insurance or other benefits, financing may help you cover your remaining out of pocket expenses.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.

aftercare iconAftercare Support

Rehab aftercare programs are designed to ensure clients receive continuing care while in the maintenance phase of recovery. Some clients may be in outpatient treatment, which is generally considered to be an element of drug rehab aftercare. The specific services provided in these programs are often determined by the client's case manager and care team in consultation with the client. Common services include peer coaching, career counseling, and 12 step program induction.

partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program

A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don’t require 24-hour care. PHPs have structured programming (i.e. individual and/or group therapy), and usually meet 3-5 days a week for around 6 hours (i.e. 9am-3m). Some PHPs are residential (patients sleep on site) and some are not, so patients sleep at home. PHPs can last from 1-6 months, and some offer transportation and meals.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

sober-living iconSober Living Homes

A sober living home in Ohio is often recommended for those completing a drug rehab program. When you leave the structured setting of rehab, returning home can trigger relapse due to the abrupt change in environment. Men's and women's sober living homes act as transitional spaces to continue developing tools for recovery before fully re-entering society. It gives you time to adjust to the demands of life, in a setting that is free from substances.

24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care

During initial recovery, withdrawal from alcohol, opiates, and benzodiazepines can involve high health risk. Attempting detox outside of 24-hour clinical care in Ohio is not recommended. This can be life-threatening because medical staff are not available to treat severe symptoms of withdrawal that often occur. Such symptoms can include seizures, delirium tremens, and extreme dehydration. In a clinical setting, staff are on-site to immediately care for your physical, emotional, and mental health needs.

12-step icon12-Step

12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient rehabs offer robust wraparound care for clients who are stepping down from intensive inpatient care, with many facilities providing multiple levels of care, including partial hospitalization (PHP), intensive outpatient (IOP), sober living/halfway housing, and standard outpatient programming. Clients may also elect to enroll in outpatient care immediately after completing inpatient detox. Those who are at lower risk of withdrawal complications may also choose to receive ambulatory medical detox from an outpatient facility. Outpatient programs typically involve addiction counseling, recovery education, and/or medication assisted treatment (MAT). Holistic therapies, such as art and music therapy, are commonly available.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Ohio provides comprehensive treatment to address the physical and psychological needs of those struggling with substance use disorders. This may involve inpatient and/or outpatient care.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person’s mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation. Dual-diagnosed patients participate in specialized groups designed to promote positive self- image and help the patients understand their mental and emotional disorders and how they influence recovery.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
program-for-men thumbnail image

Program For Men

Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image

Program For Women

Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

With trauma therapy, you can reclaim your life after witnessing or experiencing a traumatic event. Therapists help you process the memories, which promotes emotional healing and enables you to build resilience to navigate future challenges and triggers.

By no means stop treatment or looking into treatment. But. I will say the last lady I talked to on the phone at this particular place, made me cancel. She should not be in this kind of work. Update: the next day the supervisor called me and we talked it through and I decided to still go in voluntarily. The doctors and all the nurses and all the people that worked on me in person with vitals and meds and that kind of stuff were all absolutely amazing. Im very grateful for all of them. But, I was told I could go into the Cafe at 12pm noon. I walked in at 12:05pm and some lady started yelling at me to get out and not come back for another 10 minutes. She was very rude. I just walked back out and never went back in. Now, you cannot use the phone for the first 48 hours. After the 48 you can then buy a phone card for $6 to make outgoing calls. I was waiting anxiously for the 48 because I have a 80 year old mother that was very worried that I was leaving and going in because I pretty much take care of her needs. I just wanted to call her and reassure her that things would be okay and I had people in place to be checking on her daily. So, After the 48 hours i was able to finally purchase the phone card and I was told the phones were on the second floor. So I went up there and some blond haired lady dressed like an elf came out of an office and I politely asked her if she could point me to the phone. Immediately, she started questioning me about where I was from, where was I supposed to be and just being very nasty. I told her I was from downstairs in detox and I was just trying to make a call to let my elderly mother that things were okay. She started to scold me like a 5 year old saying that if I was able to use the phone then I should be in group. Now mind you, I've already talked to the doctor and the nurse about going to the orientation group later that day and that I still wasn't comfortable going into a big group setting at that point. But, she still treated me like I was a criminal. I'm 52 years old. I'd been nothing but polite, sincere, honest and grateful with everyone that was hands on giving me treatment. After this interaction with the "ELF" lady, I discharged myself and left. I told them 3 days in a row I was treated like a 5 year old by the people that are not even treating me and I wasn't going to be disrespected anymore. But, again, I would like to thank the doctors, nurses and all the people that actually was hands on to help me. You all were wonderful. Thank you. And to those other 3 people that I mentioned in this review. You all should not be working around people that are in that place trying to get better. You people only make things worse.

I loved the place the first time around that my loved one went, even though he had left. I’m disappointed now, to be honest. They would have left regardless, I’m sure. Unfortunately this is now the third time of leaving AMA.. But I kind of think that maybe it could have been avoided had they paid attention and actually enforced the phone policy they claim to have. Patients aren’t supposed to get calls for the first 48 hours. They called three times that very first (and only real day), then had a different number to call from.. calling me for half hour at a time, getting numbers to call buddies, even called for his ride the next day 😞 I was told that it is policy, but sometimes patients give away phone cards.. well, clearly it isn’t much of a policy if it isn’t enforced? And it would be awful generous for someone to give him well over an hour of phone time, probably multiple actually, that they spent their money on. I will say that his recovery is all on him. Would he have left anyway? Probably. The staff is so nice and really takes care of the family which is amazing.. But.. I can’t help to wonder what if. Yes, he went in there not in the best mindset, not even in the door & already wanting to leave, probably only really there to appease me.. but, maybe, just maybe, if he had no choice but to sit with his thoughts and really have to do the work rather than just sit on the phone talking to his buddies the entire day like he would at home anyway - maybe that could have made a huge difference?

If I could give this place zero stars I would. Being a rehab facility in a hospital setting that can handle more medically complex people recovering from addiction is false. They kicked my mother out because she was a liability falling from her being weak. Sent her home with their transport from the facility and didn’t even make sure she got into the home safely when she shouldn’t have even been discharged to do a home with steps being unable to walk right. Now she’s on her way to a trauma hospital with a brain bleed due to the negligence of the staff her discharging an unsafe patient. This place doesn’t even have the decency to return a call and explain their “plan of care” with the unsafe discharge! Unbelievable!

It's a scam. They taught my dad his self inflicted substance abuse is a 'disease' and therefore out of his control. Now he's worse than he was when he went in due to this indoctrination they did. Be wary of anyone telling you that your own actions are actually a disease and that it's out of your control. That's literally the opposite of helping someone. They are a swindler using you for your insurance.

This place saved my father's life from alcohol addiction, and my parents marriage. I am forever grateful to the staff here. My father drank his entire life and needed to stop on a dime. I am glad to report months later that he hasn't had another sip and just graduated from part of his recovery. Thank you forever and I hope you all continue to do such incredible work!
