About Springbrook Hospital

Their facility can hold up to 66 people at a time. Here, you’ll receive round the clock psychiatric care delivered by a multidisciplinary team of licensed professionals. If you’re struggling with substance use on top of a mental health issue, you’ll enroll in their Eclipse Dual Diagnosis Program. A special feature of this program is that it combines inpatient treatment with partial hospitalization services. You’ll start out in inpatient care and then transition to outpatient treatment once you’re ready to live on your own again.

During your time in the program, you’ll focus on working through your condition with a licensed therapist. You’ll discuss ways to improve your self esteem, embrace healthy habits, and improve your relationships. You can attend counseling sessions by yourself or you’re welcome to bring your spouse, kids or other family members along. They also offer group meetings and educational programs for additional support.

Individuals who have gone here have mixed feelings about the time they spent in the program. While some call it a blessing and say the staff members are supportive, others have felt inadequately cared for and question the protocols that the team members use.

My son had been at this facility from November to December 2024. The entire staff was wonderful and really helped him transition to the next facility as part of his therapy journey. This is why I went to them again. Michael and Michelle the intake nurses were the same staff members who had helped my son and still remembered him and that was a big help. It was a scary experience for me but thanks so much to the staff, especially Jamie the risk manager, who went out of their way to help me and achieve the necessary solution to my issues. Everyone is nice, compassionate and understanding. I definitely recommend this facility if it applies to your mental heath journey.

I came to this hospital during a personal crisis, sitting in the parking lot trying to gather the courage to walk inside. Instead of being met with compassion, I was approached by two nurses who began interrogating me about my private medical history, including why I “hadn’t taken my medicine.” I explained that I do not take medicine for autism, yet they continued pressing, showing no understanding or empathy. This invasive and unprofessional confrontation, which I have preserved on dash camera, left me overwhelmed, humiliated, and further destabilized. Rather than helping me, their actions pushed me into a neurodivergent meltdown and I ended up leaving without getting the treatment I needed. No patient in crisis should ever be met with hostility, shaming, or a complete lack of compassion. The hospital failed me in one of my most vulnerable moments, and the footage speaks for itself about how poorly patients can be treated here. This incident occurred at 9:55 PM. I demand that the nurses be fired immediately. I'm going to make the video go public.

Was speaking to someone here and told me about the urine, fleas and dried feces on the floor and walls. Left several messages and known of them every made to the person. I even stopped by and told a group of nurses and staff to relay a message. That did not happen either. They are suppose to help, but how does that help when hear something like that. Lacking in communication big time. I would like to report them to a government entity. Condemn this place and build over.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

aftercare iconAftercare Support

Rehab aftercare programs are a collection of highly individualized services designed to promote long-term recovery. These services evolve as your needs change. Case managers and recovery teams typically begin formulating the rehab aftercare service plan early in the recovery process to facilitate your reintegration back into the home, workplace, and community.

partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program

Often referred to as "day treatment," a partial hospitalization program (PHP) offers an intensive treatment option that allows individuals to return home at night. PHP treatment typically requires a minimum of 20 hours a week for an average of 90 days. Participants attend daily therapeutic sessions, receive medication management, and have access to skilled medical professionals. While costs can vary, most insurance will fully or partially cover a partial hospitalization program.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image

LGBTQ Program

Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Being there is a traumatizing experience! None of the sinks worked, and nobody cared when I told them. They stuff 4 people into a room at a time without working sinks and showers that hardly worked. There is black mold everywhere and they let patients walk around barefoot and go into others’ rooms if they want to. I had a medical order that I was never allowed to have because there was no female staff available ever to supervise. When I was first put into a room there was an unflushed toilet and towels on the floor. Their tv doesn’t work and there are hardly any groups so there is nothing to do to distract yourself. Other patients were inappropriate to me and none of the staff or doctors cared. This place needs to be shut down

My wife is currently there. They’re threatening her job. Making her take drug treatment and taking away her medical marinuana license and the meds she needs for her mass cell disorder. She was scared we specifically stated that we don’t want Tampa general due to a doctor that runs in the er and the ability he has to target low income and d individuals with medical marijuana and all of her personal belongings were taken from her. They won’t give me any information on when she’s going to be released from her 72 hour hold. They are treating her like a criminal. They are threading, threatening her job and calling her boss. They are also trying to make it seem like she is forced to be there threatening to keep her there for weeks when she’s just trying to comply she said the conditions were horrible. She was made to sleep in a T-shirt with no Blanket and no socks. There was dirt and dust in the shower. There was nasty deplorable conditions. She said the sanctity of life and that place is absolutely insane and it’s more insane. They do not care. They won’t allow me to get in there to see her for visitation. They won’t allow her me to allow or bring her fresh clothing. They’re keeping her locked in a cell and treating her like she’s in jail when she didn’t do anything criminal she had a suicide attempt. We knew that she was there for observation, but instead, they’re heavily medicating her to make her sleep and not providing any counseling.

This hospitals staff is amazing. I would like to mention the employees that worked closely in ensuring my brother safety arrival to me from Florida to Georgia. They literally went above and beyond in the care and Ensuring care and concern measures. They told me that my brother was totally rehabed and We are all doing well. Thank you to Nurse Jamie and Connie. And the others Doctors including Madison and so on... Just a really great staff. It takes a lot of care and love to be a Psych Nurse, MD. and a staff member. This a different and sometimes difficult type of patience in caring for our loved ones. I really appreciate you all at Springbrook Behavioral Hospital. Thank you Thank you Shantay 🤎 Brown

Zero stars only because I couldn't comment without rating it one. Denise and some of of the other techs are the only saving grace. This place is not fit for the squirrels the staff feeds. If you get help voluntarily it still is like a prison. There is zero individual therapy and I just got sent home 5 hours ago without medication sent to pharmacy which will cause another seizure which ended me up there a week ago. They don't care period and the entire facility is deplorable

This place is the MOST disgusting "mental hospital" I have EVER come across!! I am in nursing and totally understand it is NOT a easy job at all, BUT I have never n would never treat a human being as HORRIBLY as they have!! I recently had a family member end up there and they had JUST got out the real hospital riddled with blood clots and still dealing with that, n not only did this PLACE NOT GIVE them their medicine for it they took them completely off their meds and did whatever meds the dr THERE said which by the way the dr must of gotten their degree out of a cracker jack box cuz they gave them some couple meds that HAD NOTHING to do with what was going on!! So my family member is horribly sick now due to the negligence of this disgusting place! They have NO IDEA what they are talking about, it is just plain the worst place I have EVER experienced in my life and it is so horrible they are taking advantage of so many people calling themselves a mental hospital when all they do is make things 10x worse!! I have already contacted the bbb and my lawyer will also be dealing with them unfortunately, hopefully they will get shut down but NO ONE EVER GO NEAR HERE, GO ANYWHERE ELSE THEY DO NOT HELP AT ALL THEY ARE HORRIBLE!!!

If zero stars was possible, I'd have provided that feedback. To be told by people also being held inside the I didn't belong was endearing. Then to be told by the staff that My having good insurance meant I'd not be let go was very terrifying. My husband asked for information and it was not provided, I was treated so poorly, and all of my personal belongings were taken from me. Then I was held longer then legally allowable, and the staff all tried to convince me, my husband, and even law enforcement that this was "normal"... what complete crap. This hospital is a a money grabbing load of BS. There was no support, therapy, nothing. Being locked inside made me want to end my life more than anything I've ever been through. To be in a mental health facility with no support, and looking like the thriller movies you see on tv was surreal and absolutely terrifying. This facility is a joke.
