The DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) fact sheet on MDMA states that ecstasy users experience many of the same effects and face many of the same risks as users of other stimulants such as cocaine and amphetamines. One of the most significant risks associated with MDMA is that it is often mixed with other substances without the users’ knowledge. Sometimes it is cut with relatively harmless substances such as caffeine or baking soda, but dealers also combine it with other illicit drugs.
