About Cognitive Behavioral Therapists of the Tri Cities – Closed
CBT Solutions in Kingsport, Tennessee, specialized in cognitive behavioral therapy and eye movement desensitization reprocessing. Services offered included individual therapy and couples therapy. Therapy was available virtually through telehealth.
A client’s initial appointment took 60 to 90 minutes. Appointments thereafter lasted 45 to 50 minutes. However, they have since closed.
Specialists in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) was used to help clients identify, understand, and modify their beliefs so they could function more successfully. CBT operates on the concept that our beliefs, interpretations, and perceptions of life events cause our feelings, moods, and actions.
Additional Types of Counseling
The center primarily provided individual therapy. Couples therapy was available but each client was required to have an individual therapist that they met with one on one. Individually the couple shared thoughts, feelings, and the history of their relationship.
Different therapists taught each client cognitive behavioral skills. After progress was made individually, the sessions moved to combine both clients and both therapists.
Pre-marital counseling was offered in several sessions. Couples worked on communication skills and problem solving skills. Significant issues usually surfaced and were addressed in individual sessions for resolution.
Trauma Treatment with EMDR & Referrals
Trauma related disorders were treated using eye movement desensitization and restructuring. This type of therapy allows a client who is “stuck” emotionally to be able to move forward.
Although the clinic didn’t specifically treat substance use disorders, they could have treated underlying causes of substance use such as trauma, depression, or grief. The clinic could have referred clients who needed detox, residential, or intensive outpatient substance use services to a local facility.

Levels of Care
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
Treatments
Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.
