Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Addiction Treatments

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

When you choose drug rehab in New York, you'll participate in a variety of treatments that are designed to help you live a drug-free lifestyle. Common methods of treatment include group, individual, and family counseling, medication management, nutrition, exercise, and management of co-occurring mental health disorders.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

First I would like to acknowledge how challenging it can be to locate a rehab center for a loved one, especially when not having a lot of time to review and research possible options. I found myself in that position when my mother had a stroke after a planned procedure- and am grateful I had a few days to go visit some places before she was transferred. I also learned that a online review and score could be manipulated by fake postings, which I guess I knew, but didn't realize could be so problematic, since I wasted time looking at places that once I visited, it was clear had higher scores based on manipulated postings. That said, I am the daughter of a patient who resided there from mid-January through the first week of April. I did visit a few rehab centers in person before settling on Brooklyn Rehabilitative Center. I was able to schedule a tour with Clarens with about an hour notice and he appeared transparent and informed not only about the center, but the typical adjustment patients experience on finding themselves in need of extended rehabiliative care. Over the next 2+months that my mother resided there, he proved himself to be both considerate, transparent and professional. After my mother settled in, I had at least 2 occasions to reach out to him via text while I was out of state and he always responded and took care of my requests. My mother resided on the 2nd floor, so I can only attest to the wonderful treatment she received on that floor, under the supervision of Nurse Manager Chanel and the team of nurses and CNA's on that floor. For 2 months I found the facility to be clean and well run. The rooms are spacious; the bathrooms are always clean (features that were important to me). My mother, and many of the patients do complain about the lack of freedom of movement and the sometimes "colder" treatment from some of the CNA's. I will give my take on that next, but I must importantly state here that my mother experienced excellent therapeutic care from the Physical Therapy Department, in particular from Speech Therapist Maria B. and Physical Therapist Sharonda. (I apologize if I can misspelling anyone's names) If I could provide a rating of 4.5, I would- because the only reason I am not providing a 5-star rating is because of the way my mom and many of the patients complained of the treatment from the CNA's. Having spoken not only to Clarens and Chanel, but also the social worker on the 2nd floor, I do know the administrative staff are aware and do their best to manage this unfortunate aspect. What I have witnessed is mostly patients who perhaps don't want to stay in the common room and want to return to their rooms- which is at odds with the center's goal to keep the patients engaged, socializing, and not laying in bed for too many hours during the day. Lost of personal freedom on movement is obviously frustrating for the patients even if the center's intensions are good- and its often the CNA's who are in the position of "gate-keeping" the open area, hence they hear the brunt of the frustration and perhaps have learned to navigate it by tuning it out- which feels disrespectful from the position of the patients. They also seem to forget that the agreed to do one thing or another, which perhaps is unintentional, but which leads to a lot of anger from some patients. From what I could tell, it is a hard situation, and I believe the center can and should do more to train the CNA's on their interactions with the patients. At the end, I would use the service again, if needed and I would recommend it to others. I am, in fact, very grateful for my mom's treatment. Oh, and though she and many of the patients did complain about the food- she managed to put on nearly 10 lbs during her stay which was needed, as she had lost a lot of weight right before this during her hospital stay.
