On behalf of myself and my dad, we are truly grateful and appreciative to the entire staff for the outstanding care and support my dad received. My father was in need of short term sub-acute rehabilitation after three surgeries within a year. We were nervous about choosing the right facility. However, the right facility chose us, we accepted, The Brooklyn Centers for Rehab and Nursing. And that was the excellent decision. I came in with a couple of concerns since my dad is a complicated ENT patient with a stoma in the neck and at times can become a difficult airway patient. The staff effectively conveyed the information and listened activity to my concerns. I would like to say this loudly, the care provided was exceptional. Upon arrival I was introduced to Ilan Scher, the Associate Administrator. What a blessing he is, compassionate and empathetic. Ilan showed genuine concern for my dad's well-being. He prioritizes the patient's needs, preferences and values in all aspects of care. His commitment to providing the highest possible quality of care from admission to discharge was unwaverin. He knows everyone by name, on my dad's first day he quickly assessed situations to accommodate his special needs. Nurse manager Darryl who demonstrated incredible professionalism and kindness and a profound understanding of my dad's needs. Managers Ms. Marie and Tatiana, nurse Roger, Nicky and the entire staff, I express sincere gratitude for all that you do. In conclusion, the facility is impressively clean which boasts rooms that are very spacious, painted with bright and vibrant colors that has an uplifting effect on your spirit. Thank you again . Formal Complaint Regarding BROOKLYN REHAB My aunt has been admitted to this rehab facility since August 5th, and it has been nothing but a nightmare. The staff here are not sufficient to provide the level of care that patients need. My aunt underwent back surgery and is unable to walk. Despite this, it takes staff over an hour to respond to call bells, and on multiple occasions, staff have even entered her room only to shut the call bell off instead of helping her. She requires assistance with basic care, yet the staff have failed to change her diapers regularly. My cousin and I have had to step in to change her ourselves, and shockingly, staff even taught us how to do it so they wouldn’t have to. The most serious incident occurred on Labor Day night. While attempting to use the bathroom, the CNA who was supposed to be assisting her left her unattended. She tried to get up on her own and fell, breaking her ankle in two places. Despite her condition, the facility refused to provide immediate medical attention, telling her she would have to wait until Monday for a CT scan because the staff were short and “at the parade.” She was finally transferred to Mt. Sinai Brooklyn on Tuesday morning, where an X-ray confirmed her ankle was broken. She returned to the rehab on September 5, 2025, and the very next day (9/6/25), she reported to me that they had taken away her pain medication and failed to provide her with meals — she was not given breakfast or lunch. This level of negligence and inhumane treatment is unacceptable. We are in the process of seeking immediate new placement for my aunt. I would strongly warn others not to send their loved ones here. This facility is unsafe, unprofessional, and unfit to care for vulnerable patients.

Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Addiction Treatments

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

When you choose drug rehab in New York, you'll participate in a variety of treatments that are designed to help you live a drug-free lifestyle. Common methods of treatment include group, individual, and family counseling, medication management, nutrition, exercise, and management of co-occurring mental health disorders.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.
