Ms. Jaline and Ms. Abmer are truly remarkable individuals. I personally struggled with sobriety for a long time and have explored other recovery programs in the past. However, their program was the key to my sustained success. They have walked this path themselves and deeply understand the challenges and Wins of recovery. Keke was the absolute best person ever. She was so helpful when I called about my little brother and I could tell by the tone in her voice she ACTUALLY cared. They got my son on the right medication after having a horrible experience at another facility!! My son is actually doing a lot better after coming home from here. They stayed in touch with us, called us daily and gave updates. Was very impressed with them. Yes they have rules the kids need to follow, and that’s good because everything has rules. Yes they spent time in the group room watching a movie but that gave him time to think about what he did to get to where he was. I would highly recommend them!!

"Update: June 24th 2025, the VA has taken strides in streamlining Veteran care in all its facilities, it is not the same as it used to be. You can pre check in to your appointments. They really care about veterans and working on their timeframes. " Previous review: I could go to Houston 2 hrs away and be seen.. However if you dont go to this outpatient clinic they will not see you unless you are seen within 2 yrs.. They will refuse you to be seen. In Baton rouge I was seen immediately that day at that va outpatient clinic.

I've been using Spindletop my entire adult life. I can't express how grateful I am for the team and the services offered/available to me in my darkest moments. I can't understand some of these reviews as they just seem petty and not really about the service overall, but something they themselves didn't do and expected Spindletop to do it or anticipate it. That's not how it works. Anyway keep your head up team you're doing the best you can with the minimal resources offered by the state.

This is the only place available that is very supportive of individuals who are down and out due to substance dependence, or emotional instability or mental illness. They are truly overwhelmed and underpaid. They help adults and children. Help is almost nonexistent in Beaumont for those who can’t afford healthcare of this nature. Human mental recovery is handled here. The family system easily erodes without such repair and healing.

For starters I will open up this review with saying recovery and sobriety is solely based on the individual trying to become sober. You have to make that choice on your own and then act.
I started classes in September and finished in Jan. I was only supposed to do 24 classes. In this review I will be honest and explain why it took me so long.
Intake: Reached out to Rod , he was very responsive. Done an intake with Ken he was nice and thorough. Ken is a true survivor and has an intense background with personally using and going to rehab which is why he is creditable to be an instructor. Also explains the way he may present himself - at times you may think he is exhibiting behavior of someone who uses , but technically that is just what happens after a long time of using. (Seen a review comment on how he sniffles and re asks questions so wanted to address that here. Ken never acted like he uses - always present and has an awesome memory. I commend Ken for his background and ability to be so strong and present in classes for us.)
Actual class: The class is virtual , I truly do not believe any pure recovery can be done in a virtual setting. Although, Ken made sure all cameras were on and made sure everyone was active. I have never been to a recovery class before so I stopped going once the first 2-3 classes felt like in intervention on everyone else's life. I just kept thinking "If people want to come here to really get off drugs , it is impossible". So , knowing I had to finish . After a while I made the best of it. I told Ken my concerns and from then he had content for us to read and go through. On top of that the classes are 3 times a week from 6-9. Very inconvenient.
Concerns or issues:
- Ken is older so sometimes there were technical issues where a
lot of class time is wasted.
- Jake also is an older fella and at times seemed his personal life did not allow him to be present on his Thursday calls.
- Classes are very invasive and personal. To me we would be asked very personal questions and at times the responses from Ken and Jake were very passive.
- At one point of time I felt Ken was showing favoritism to a particular client - would let him just talk and ramble on and on. To me his actions were signs of someone who just relapsed but Ken was always so amazed in what he had to say. Weeks after that - the dude admitted to relapsing. I really felt like Ken should have caught on to that since he asks a lot of people other personal devils advocate styled questions.
- At the end when I finished class. Rod's records were off , he could not find my first payment so I had to send him emails of the receipts he made me.
- 3 classes a week from 6-9 was another issue on why it took me so long to finish. Too many days and too long. The content needs to be a lot stronger with that being said.
Pro's and good
- You will develop a family in the classes
- Being in classes you will hear other peoples stories and that will encourage you to be better and stay sober.
- You were able to talk and vent when needed
- A lot of information on drug and alcohol abuse
All and all the program was good for ME. Although it contributed to my sobriety - it was not close to being the main thing on why I stayed sober. I made that option on my own. I feel if you are struggling with drugs seriously, this class and the content is not strong enough to break those habits. Go check into rehab.

This is the best place for IOP. And I've been to quite a few. Not proud but it's the truth. Every counselor there is AMAZING. If one feels alone and isolated, they won't here. Great facility for your loved one to go to if you want them to die. They’ll dope em up on so many drugs just so they don’t have to deal with them. This was the exact treatment our loved one got there. Real professional staff too. Anytime our grandmother was moved outside of the facility for treatment no family member was informed. They told us that they hadn’t been doping her up on drugs as she was drooling on herself and staring blankly at us. We pulled our grandmother out of there. Such a great place for the elderly to have to go to I guess in comparison to Auschwitz.

The odyssey home is where you come and get away from everything so you can better yourself. you may not like it all while your in there but deep down you know it’s doing you better mentally and physically and showing you how strong you can be when you finish the program all the staff are great people just have the same respect you would want towards you. Everyone isn’t gonna have a perfect day every single day but you gotta focus on why your there and what you need to do so you can go back home and spent time with your family cause when you in there you start thinking about all the stuff yoh missed out with your family and how much of a privilege it is to have your family around but you don’t notice that till your in there and see how much time you been playing with your life there is a privilege for you to become great within yourself you just have to put the work in and show your family that you can make a change for once in your life. Even the techs were so helpful n friendly i went in on 7-23-23 everything was good towards the end i got a couch how lucky was i to get couch AUTUMN ha she talked about my pants not being fancy enough for community saying i wasnt serious that I don’t want to b sober ( hint I was in rehab willingly) n basically ignored me wouldn’t help me get help with anything literally SHE DID NOTHING for me n the day I graduated im all proud n happy she walks up to me says “ im not gunna b ur couch, u don’t want this ur no hope bye “ I told the lady in charge she said “ she has to it’s to late , o well just go ask another couch “ other couches had already left or said they were full so while Santa Maria was great couch AUTUMN shouldn’t b a couch if that’s how she thinks while Santa Maria was setting me up for greatness the one person that’s supposed to b ur support on the outside tryed to set me up for failure n Santa Maria as a whole don’t need her mentality in a place like that ur supposed to couch help not tear us down

Also, I experienced more than just Freedom from alcohol , that slowly took control over me. I magically adapted to an enthusiastic attitude to replace the damages & Shame of the past ,
