I would like to express my heartfelt appreciation to this facility and its staff for their unwavering support and guidance throughout my recovery. The program, staff, and fellow residents have all played a crucial role in my growth, providing me with a strong foundation for my ongoing sobriety. The skills and strategies I learned here have been instrumental in maintaining my sobriety, and I am now residing in a supportive sober living environment where I can continue to learn and grow. During my time at the facility, I received the difficult news of my sister's cancer diagnosis and her subsequent passing on November 4, 2025. However, thanks to the support and tools I received, I have been able to cope with this challenging situation in a healthy, sober, and stable manner. Today, I have come to understand that acceptance is the answer to all my problems. I am confident that I will never have to resort to substance use again. I am grateful for the opportunity to share my experience and encourage others who may be struggling in silence to seek help. Four years ago I entered the doors of pathways broken and afraid when I left out those doors two weeks later I was different, ready to face the world and unafraid I wanna thank the nurse that sat up with me at three in the morning when I asked for the phone to call home ready to leave she encouraged me and told me that the fight was already won! I started with the VA several years ago to get hearing aids. I was sent to Lafayette VA I got an appointment and my wait time was very short. The Dr that saw me was very professional from start to finish. Moving on to the Lake Charles clinic it’s very clean and the people from the front desk to the doctor is courteous and professional. The lab people are as good as any I have used. Doctor Lay always sees about my prescription to get them from the VA drug store. They are always on time delivered to my home by mail. The dentist the VA use in Lake Charles in the community care care net work are the best. I have nothing but praise for the VA system I.e.the part I use.

I was here in 2013 for mental health and rapid detox from a dangerous substance i was addicted to. I had a very good experience Was so glad to be able to stay close to home so my family could visit. This place saved my son’s life! SAVED HIS LIFE! My son was there for one year 2024-2025 and he completed the programs, classes meetings and then lived at Genesis Sober Living. He would be in jail or dead if it wasn’t for the Sanctuary. Chris M and the court judge always worked with my son to make sure he stayed on track. So many others can succeed with this type of program. I wish Texas had something like this. Thank you to anyone that worked with my son. Communities need this support program. Thank you ! Thank you !

Just released from in-care for anxiety and calming down. Love, love, love the staff! Groups are very helpful, and participating can be be enlightening. Food had been great on previous visits-not right now, it isn't. Beware of you have asthma, cleaning product grades are medically necessary with so many people going in and out, and are high in VOCs. Get medical Dr to temporarily double your asthma medication, I forgot and I had a hard time catching my breath. Not highly structured at all, and wonderful people helping you. A great place to calm down!

I cannot praise Alan Parrish Hospital enough for creating new visions. It was a blessing that I did not expect. Everyone from the medical staff, to the dietary employees, and even the housekeeping employees show compassion, and respect to every patient. The moment that you walk in you are cared for with compassion and respect. No judgment, just a real heart for their patience. They are professional and get the job done.. They do not just put you in a room and forget about you. They monitor your health needs all day and all night and they do it with the smile on their face. The highest praise I can give is that when you were there you will actually feel loved and wanted and accepted. If you are in need of detox, this is the place you want to go.

Star was communicating with my mom to get me brought all the way from Oregon and answered any questions we had. I went in for alcohol treatment, I was VERY bad off and she helped set my moms mind at ease going through this. I unfortunately dont remember my first few days there during detox but today makes 235 days sober and im so grateful to have been placed in her hands. I recently brought my cousin there to detox as well and she was more than happy to answer my call and line everything up to make his process as pain free as possible. I cant thank the staff enough.

The counselors do follow up. Oh and my name is Debbie Food, snacks and the washer and dryers provided. Definitely not home, but, protection and guidance provided. I was not and am not comfortable with groups so going out to AA meetings was not for me. My comfort level was in house meetings and the past speakers gave me a feeling of hope that they chose to come back to chair and share their stories of hope. This addiction is so challenging since alcohol is so available,. By me making better Choices of my soundings, situations and some friends it is and can be doable for me, To the rest of my graduating family; is anything easy? Cypress Lakes was, by far, the best treatment facility I have been to. Unfortunately, I have been a frequent flyer to rehab facilities over the past couple of years. I'm kinda stubborn and think I know better. Lol. There is something really special, almost sacred, about this facility. I can't explain it. It's peaceful and beautiful. But, most importantly, it's the staff. From the Executive Director to the Maintenance Staff, everyone cares. There's no judgment. No one's too busy to meet you where you are. The therapy and the tools they teach can really be applied to life outside the treatment center. I never write reviews. If I like/don't like a place, I use word of mouth. However, this facility is outstanding and deserves every once of recognition.

I attended Cypress Lakes Recovery in October of last year and I had an incredible experience!!! I am now 10 months clean and sober and I am truly grateful for my experience there. The staff, the therapists, the food, the view, the activities were all AMAZING!!! The staff were all committed, down-to-Earth and caring. By the end of my time there, I felt a certain connection to them all. They truly care about your well-being!!! No, you won't be staying in the big house, but the dorms are comfortable and you have your own space in your room. They provide laundry baskets, lockers, towels, etc. We had a mix of different groups and classes that were Recovery focused and kept us pretty busy. In our free time we were able to fish, kayak, swim, watch movies, do puzzles together, play music in the music room, and go for hikes. It's a beautiful property!!! So peaceful! Also, once you reach a certain stage, you are able to go to outside meetings if you choose, like A.A. or Celebrate Recovery, and go on field trips (we went bowling). The kitchen staff was amazing as well and always serving us wonderful meals throughout the week. There is always a salad bar, which is equipped with fruit and muffins, etc. for breakfast. I encourage anyone who is considering rehab to go here!!! Thank you, Cypress Lakes ♡ I hope to see you in October for the reunion!!!

I went back to Cypress Lake twice and enjoyed my time There. The amenities are nice and the staff does care. My counselors Traci & Jennifer were both really kind and insightful. And i like the food. The dog Gracie was a sweetheart and had a lot of nice walking trails and other stuff. Would go back again

I have been to Edgefield 3 times and I will not go anywhere else for treatment for substance use disorder. The staff is caring and compassionate, attentive to the needs of the clients, and puts the client first. There was a new administrator this time I went, Mr. Bobby Rayford, who I highly commend on his hiring of the new staff. He is a delight to be around and even did my discharge plan for me. His concern for Edgefield being a top notch rehab facility really shows through. Good job on cutting back on the snacks, because many addicts in recovery struggle with weight gain. Thank you Edgefield for another beautiful stay. I will never forget the sunrises and sunsets I saw out there on the bayou. If you are looking for a rehab to meet all of your needs, look no further. This is the place.

Edgefield first caught my attention because of its location and history but upon arrival I was introduced to the compassionate staff that made me feel at home. The repuposed plantation house is such a charm with beautiful chandeliers, fireplaces, and paintings to gaze at between classes, meals, or in the afternoon. The staff was so caring and involved in my recovery process. They genuinely are concerned for the patients and it shines through all of the employees, from the physicians, techs, and lunch room employees. Being set on a quiet bayou with lots of wildlife to observe and appreciate. I recommend a volleyball game during your stay. The food was amazing and filling, so if you are on a diet I suggest passing on the 2 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches they offer as snack. Thank you for helping me so that I could help others.
