This place saved my son’s life! SAVED HIS LIFE!
My son was there for one year 2024-2025 and he completed the programs, classes meetings and then lived at Genesis Sober Living. He would be in jail or dead if it wasn’t for the Sanctuary. Chris M and the court judge always worked with my son to make sure he stayed on track. So many others can succeed with this type of program. I wish Texas had something like this. I have worked in the substance use disorder and mental health field for many years and when I discovered Sanctuary Louisiana I never knew such a unique place existed in Louisiana. They offer three levels of therapeutic care, the traditional 28 Day Program, a halfway house (which are hard to find in Louisiana) and an IOP program. As another benefit sober living homes are available that are actually supervised with random drug screens. What is even more unique is that they have a highly qualified counseling and medical staff, find jobs for clients in the halfway house program instead of throwing in the world to find their own jobs and provide transportation to and from work. The whole spectrum of services provides a gradual exposure to life's stressors as opposed to 28 days and you are on your own. Long term treatment is what works for those with substance use disorders and those that complete the program have higher than average success rates in regards to sustained recovery. Substance use disorders don't develop overnight and years of addiction requires long term treatment as that is not overcome overnight either. Especially when most people with addictions have a substance use disorder and a mental health disorder, called co-occurring disorders All of the client's psychiatric and physical health needs are met as they provide medication management services with a PNP and an MD. It is a gem in plain sight.
Star was communicating with my mom to get me brought all the way from Oregon and answered any questions we had. I went in for alcohol treatment, I was VERY bad off and she helped set my moms mind at ease going through this. I unfortunately dont remember my first few days there during detox but today makes 235 days sober and im so grateful to have been placed in her hands. I recently brought my cousin there to detox as well and she was more than happy to answer my call and line everything up to make his process as pain free as possible. I cant thank the staff enough.

I don't have enough words to explain how thankful I am. They were so kind and explained everything. They checked on me often and made.sure I was comfortable and had everything I needed. I was only here three days and they set me up on outpatient care in lake Charles. I can't believe this place was just an hour down the road. I have my life back and I am so grateful. Thanks to Tammy and Star and all the nurses and doctors.

I turned to Victory when I was at the end of the road and felt I had nowhere else to turn. Victory gave me not only the chance to live again but also the tools to face life’s struggles and grow from them. Life hasn’t been perfect since Victory, but I’m a better person because of it.
I don’t think many people wake up excited to walk into an inpatient facility, but if I ever had to do it again, I’d want it to be here. The staff and patients truly felt like family. We grew together — supporting each other through every step. The days are structured and purposeful, filled with small groups, community sessions, and learning opportunities that all have meaning.
If you’re reading reviews wondering if this is the right place for you, give it a try. You can always leave if it’s not a fit — but you might not get another chance if you pass this one up. Victory helped save my life, and for that, I’ll always be grateful.

This is a great place to get a reset in life and the tools to do so. The facility is clean, and all of the staff are helpful. From intake to the numerous programs they offer after your stay, I recommend this place to get your life back on track.

I have gone a couple times and the staff have been great I would recommend this place before anywhere else and I have been to other place. I will be calling to go back next week I battle with anxiety depression and a addiction to fentanyl I am tired I want to get clean and stay clean I'm gonna try again and I pray I can succeed this time.

Best place I ever been to. They made sure I was comfortable, they cared, they got what I needed right away. This place went above and beyond and im forever grateful.
I would like to express my heartfelt appreciation to this facility and its staff for their unwavering support and guidance throughout my recovery. The program, staff, and fellow residents have all played a crucial role in my growth, providing me with a strong foundation for my ongoing sobriety. The skills and strategies I learned here have been instrumental in maintaining my sobriety, and I am now residing in a supportive sober living environment where I can continue to learn and grow. During my time at the facility, I received the difficult news of my sister's cancer diagnosis and her subsequent passing on November 4, 2025. However, thanks to the support and tools I received, I have been able to cope with this challenging situation in a healthy, sober, and stable manner. Today, I have come to understand that acceptance is the answer to all my problems. I am confident that I will never have to resort to substance use again. I am grateful for the opportunity to share my experience and encourage others who may be struggling in silence to seek help. I would like to thank everyone who has been a part of my journey; your impact will be felt forever.

Four years ago I entered the doors of pathways broken and afraid when I left out those doors two weeks later I was different, ready to face the world and unafraid I wanna thank the nurse that sat up with me at three in the morning when I asked for the phone to call home ready to leave she encouraged me and told me that the fight was already won! And four years later my whole life has changed thank you guys for saving my life.

This is the place you’re looking for. You are treated as an adult and still have your freedoms. The gates are open so you’re free to leave but I’m willing to bet if you come with an open mind and heart you won’t want to. If you’re wanting help and looking for a beautiful place for you to look inside and work on what’s necessary to get sober, this is it. The staff truly cares about you and your sobriety. I wasn’t really excited about coming here, because who really wants to go to treatment, but I now feel that I have a second home.

This was the first rehab I had ever went to. This was in 2015 or 16 well they were located I think in Lafayette and when I got signed in to stay they were moving like the 3rd day that I was there to sunset location . It was cool to see . The old one looked like a house it was cool . I had came in and almost passed out and the nurses and staff made sure I was ok and saw a doctor and that mentally I was okay . I may not have been at my best but the staff and everyone here was so beyond kind and cared about everyone's sobriety and it was individualized and personal . It was pricey back then I'm not sure about now . I had ended leaving but I never forgot and alot of people will say it's about how people treat you that people remember. It helped me in the sobriety process . They were still kind and wanted me to stay so much but I needed something else . Well because I had went for the time length I stayed I got an AA book and I kept it all these years and today it still helps and has helped heal me. If it wasn't for that place I wouldn't know the AA way.
This place has been the most amazing experience. They have changed my life. They’re understanding and kind. And make you feel warm and welcomed. If it wasn’t for them I would still be strung out on drugs with no hope. Thank you Applegate recovery for all that you have done to help me change my life !

Been here multiple times. All the local ERs always claim vermilion is full so they can send you far away. As a client we always have a voice. Staff is so amazing and the food is legit. The menu is top notch

This is my son's second time at woodlake..he was clean about a year. With all the storms and hurricanes and pandemic caused him a relapse. He choose to go back.to woodlake addiction recovery and is now getting the best help and care, and they're also working with the mental disability part. . Try woodlake recovery recovery. People there are friendly and they care
On December 5th, 2019 I walked into this treatment center and have been sober ever since. It wasn't easy at times, but Woodlake helped me see that it was a lot less complicated than I was making it! I followed the suggestions given and my life significantly improved in every way possible.

My grandson is there and I was scared at first I didn't even know what the property looks like or anything but it's pretty much way out in the boondocks seen plenty of corn fields and it's located down a long gravel road I was like oh my God there's not even blacktop roads but we got there and it's like a couple separate buildings and my grandson was so happy he didn't act like he wanted to go home or juvie LOL the staff was very nice it's way more than I expected I had told my grandson that I would like to try to maybe donate some stuff for them to do you know games and stuff like that but he said no mamaw we have plenty of stuff to do I get to choose my chores and I chose to cut grass what she likes because his papa never lets him we're about an hour and a half for longer away from there but it's really nice as we were there they was cooking them po'boys french fries and I'm trying to think something else but he said he's eating very good there and you know they pretty much mentor them and cancel them and they don't see race the one man that works the board is you know the one that told me that and he was so kind to us he seemed like he really cared about my grandson

Ample handicapped parking, when you walk up they are ALWAYS playing patriotic music, doors can be opened automatically or if you prefer to just push but most of the time the security guard scrambles to do it for you and pushes the automatic button for you. The front desk staff, the nursing staff, the social services staff, radiology… absolutely the best of the best- they never ever lose their cool with some of the grumpier old Veterans (which by the way they ARE a Veteran- they have earned the right to be grumpy- just not rude y’all 😉)❤️🤍💙🇱🇷Anyways- every time I go with my dad- He’s a Vietnam Veteran- I’m always amazed at how so very kind, upmost respectful and sweet the staff is. Not sure about other medical staff but my dad has Dr Gautam, Mrs. Myra and a new nurse (I can’t remember her name) but by golly this crew is so attentive, listens, finds solutions and helps my dad AND me with him! They should be so proud of the service they provide to our Veterans! Just exemplary service from the minute you walk in till you leave🇱🇷♥️🤍💙❤️🤍💙
I just moved to Lake Charles, and needed to transfer my records. Mr.Robert Todd helped me and was the kindest most light hearted VA employee I’ve ever come in contact with. He made sure I was aware of my resources regarding mental health and didn’t turn me away. I’m very thankful for him making this whole process as simple as possible.

People need to be grateful we have a clinic now. Im very thankful we do. They do a good job provide free coffee and really go out of their way to help you. YOU Vets complaining either stop going and go pay for your healthcare somewhere else instead of taking up spots for VETERANs that actually need and appreciate the care the VA is providing. Keep up the great work ignore the bad reviews!

The day after my daughter turned 16 she was admitted at New Beginnings. This is certainly NOT the sweet 16 I had imagined. I had spent the last 9 months trying to figure out what was going on with my daughter. The night before her 16 birthday I located her with friend completely wasted to a dangerous level. She revealed she had a plan to kill herself so I immediately took her to the emergency room. She went to a hospital for a day or two until I could get her enrolled. A good friend was a drug and alcohol professional and recommended New Beginnings. It is hard to leave your child with strangers in another state but what other choice did I have? I knew this was a life or death situation. The staff took good care of her and helped her begin a journey of sobriety. It was not an easy journey for her or our family. The staff remained in close contact with us and tried to help us as a family. Most importantly they saved my daughter. This July she will celebrate her 6th year of sobriety. I could not be more grateful for this staff. Their attention to detail and care of my entire child was incredible. My daughter is alive, sober and thriving as a young adult because of these professionals.

This facility really saved my life. I was in and out of psych hospitals from various drug overdoses and suicide attempts. After I was expelled from my high school, my addiction became extremely worse. after about two months of of extreme use of alcohol and opiates, i had my last drink and shot up for the first time. I went to a hospital with a BAC of .43. My mom found this treatment center when I was detoxing in a mental health facility. I finally agreed to go which was the beginning of my new life. Everyone at the facility got what i was going through. If you’re looking for a place to send your kid who is struggling with substance abuse i highly, highly recommend this place.
April will mark my 21st year at Barrt!!... I know that may seem like a long time to some, but I can honestly say Barrt is one of the reasons I'm still alive after all these years!!... In all these years I have never had one complaint!... I've grown up with most of the employees there and would consider them friends, especially my counselor who has always been there for me throughout the years! I will probably be there for the rest of my life and that's okay because it's my recovery and what works and has worked for me.... Thank you to all of the staff for always treating me not only like a human being, but a person that you care for!!... It's definitely a major reason I've had the success I've had!!

Needed to guest dose while driving through town on a very long road trip. Front window staff and the nurse who handled my paperwork were extremely helpful. I would definitely recommend to anyone who needs to do the same to be prepared, communicate with your home clinic and counselor to get the paperwork started as early as possible, that's what takes the longest. My wait wasn't as long as I was anticipating, especially for a Friday. Thank you very much to everyone there that made it possible for me to get my medication when I needed it very much.
