I have gone a couple times and the staff have been great I would recommend this place before anywhere else and I have been to other place. My grandson is there and I was scared at first I didn't even know what the property looks like or anything but it's pretty much way out in the boondocks seen plenty of corn fields and it's located down a long gravel road I was like oh my God there's not even blacktop roads but we got there and it's like a couple separate buildings and my grandson was so happy he didn't act like he wanted to go home or juvie LOL the staff was very nice it's way more than I expected I had told my grandson that I would like to try to maybe donate some stuff for them to do you know games and stuff like that but he said no mamaw we have plenty of stuff to do I get to choose my chores and I chose to cut grass what she likes because his papa never lets him we're about an hour and a half for longer away from there but it's really nice as we were there they was cooking them po'boys french fries and I'm trying to think something else but he said he's eating very good there and you know they pretty much mentor them and cancel them and they don't see race the one man that works the board is you know the one that told me that and he was so kind to us he seemed like he really cared about my grandson

The day after my daughter turned 16 she was admitted at New Beginnings. This is certainly NOT the sweet 16 I had imagined. I had spent the last 9 months trying to figure out what was going on with my daughter. The night before her 16 birthday I located her with friend completely wasted to a dangerous level. She revealed she had a plan to kill herself so I immediately took her to the emergency room. She went to a hospital for a day or two until I could get her enrolled. A good friend was a drug and alcohol professional and recommended New Beginnings. It is hard to leave your child with strangers in another state but what other choice did I have? I knew this was a life or death situation. The staff took good care of her and helped her begin a journey of sobriety. It was not an easy journey for her or our family. The staff remained in close contact with us and tried to help us as a family. Most importantly they saved my daughter. This July she will celebrate her 6th year of sobriety. I could not be more grateful for this staff. Their attention to detail and care of my entire child was incredible. My daughter is alive, sober and thriving as a young adult because of these professionals.

No place will be perfect, and in all places, you will have to deal with stuff that you're not 100% on board with. What I can tell you is that here at New Beginnings the staff and the doctors really care about you, and for me, that's 100% worth it.

After reading the reviews, we were terrified to leave our family member at Compass in Opelusas. However, we were pleasantly surprised. The social worker, Claire, was very helpful, keeping us updated with medication changes and progress reports. She was kind and never made us feel like an inconvenience when we called. Pam was patient and willing to listen to our concerns. Clara was such a sweet aide, taking extra time with her during her shift to ensure she didn't feel lonely. The psychiatrists were both very attentive to behavior changes and quick to make changes to medication when needed. She was in this facility for 11 days and we are happy to say we would recommend it to others!

Compass Behavioral Center is an excellent place if you are struggling with some mental health problems. The staff is probably a little rude but is because they are very disciplined and they do their work in the right way, all that they do is for the patient's benefit.

The facility is very clean, the staff is great, the priority for these people is getting their patients back to their normal life, free of drugs. I turned to Victory when I was at the end of the road and felt I had nowhere else to turn. Victory gave me not only the chance to live again but also the tools to face life’s struggles and grow from them. Life hasn’t been perfect since Victory, but I’m a better person because of it.
I don’t think many people wake up excited to walk into an inpatient facility, but if I ever had to do it again, I’d want it to be here. The staff and patients truly felt like family. We grew together — supporting each other through every step. The days are structured and purposeful, filled with small groups, community sessions, and learning opportunities that all have meaning.
If you’re reading reviews wondering if this is the right place for you, give it a try. You can always leave if it’s not a fit — but you might not get another chance if you pass this one up. Victory helped save my life, and for that, I’ll always be grateful.

Edgefield first caught my attention because of its location and history but upon arrival I was introduced to the compassionate staff that made me feel at home. The repuposed plantation house is such a charm with beautiful chandeliers, fireplaces, and paintings to gaze at between classes, meals, or in the afternoon. The staff was so caring and involved in my recovery process. They genuinely are concerned for the patients and it shines through all of the employees, from the physicians, techs, and lunch room employees. Being set on a quiet bayou with lots of wildlife to observe and appreciate. I recommend a volleyball game during your stay. The food was amazing and filling, so if you are on a diet I suggest passing on the 2 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches they offer as snack. Thank you for helping me so that I could help others.

Absolutely beautiful grounds and the most supportive, caring, and loving staff. From the moment I walked in at Intake I immediately felt welcomed. Was greeted by staff that also had personaly experienced the recovery journey. Having that in common made it easier for me to be able to start forgiving myself and focusing on my sobriety. The techs were able to guide me , answering all my questions and calming my anxiety. There was plenty of other clients to talk to. We enjoyed fishing, volley ball and basketball. Staff even played with us. My counselor was able to listen, be empathetic but also hold me accountable. Which I needed more than I knew at the time. The atmosphere was relaxing and perfect for my self healing. I can't thank Edgefield Recovery Center enough for giving me the opportunity to get my life back. One I am proud of. I would strongly recommend Edgefield to anyone ready to start their journey. We had nightly AA meetings, small groups, one on one counseling, mediation, yoga, gratitude, family meal's. (BTWThe food is Great!!)Edgefield Recovery Center saved me. The discharge planner was even able and willing to work with me to find me a sober living home in my preferred area to where I was able to get a job, have transportation and begin on a healthy path!! Whispering Oaks Lodge saved my life. Their holistic approach, mental, emotional, physical, & spiritual, forced me to look at myself in the most intimate way! This intense & much deeper look into myself encouraged an honesty I had never experienced. Taking an honest with no sugar coating the facts, look at myself helped me take ownership of the consequences my addiction had on me, my family, & friends. They do not let you play the blame game.
The freedoms given before & after the individual & group sessions allows self reflection & interaction with other patients. The assignments given are individualized, not your generic ones given in other treatment centers.
The professionalism of the staff is impeccable! They met every morning to discuss each patient therefore all the counselors were able to help at a moments notice.
I was very impressed at the insight each counselor had on each patient!!! Their feedback, although not always easy to hear, was always spot on!!!

On December 5th, 2019 I walked into this treatment center and have been sober ever since. It wasn't easy at times, but Woodlake helped me see that it was a lot less complicated than I was making it! I followed the suggestions given and my life significantly improved in every way possible.

The front desk staff, the nursing staff, the social services staff, radiology… absolutely the best of the best- they never ever lose their cool with some of the grumpier old Veterans (which by the way they ARE a Veteran- they have earned the right to be grumpy- just not rude y’all 😉)❤️🤍💙🇱🇷Anyways- every time I go with my dad- He’s a Vietnam Veteran- I’m always amazed at how so very kind, upmost respectful and sweet the staff is. Not sure about other medical staff but my dad has Dr Gautam, Mrs. Myra and a new nurse (I can’t remember her name) but by golly this crew is so attentive, listens, finds solutions and helps my dad AND me with him! They should be so proud of the service they provide to our Veterans! Just exemplary service from the minute you walk in till you leave🇱🇷♥️🤍💙❤️🤍💙

I was addicted to narcotic pain medicine for over 13 years and my doctor that gote addicted got shut down for writing too many narcotic prescriptions then I moved to a different town and brought my records from previous doctor and none of the doctors I went to would give me any so I started buying them illegally on the streets every day. But when I started BAART 5 years ago I got off of all illegal drugs I done in my life and was no longer in excruciating pain when I didn't take narcotic pain pills. Their program changed my life for the better. The only problem I've had is every counselor they assign me gets to know me and then they change my counselor. I've had like 5 or 6 in 5 years.

April will mark my 21st year at Barrt!!... I know that may seem like a long time to some, but I can honestly say Barrt is one of the reasons I'm still alive after all these years!!... Needed to guest dose while driving through town on a very long road trip. Front window staff and the nurse who handled my paperwork were extremely helpful. I would definitely recommend to anyone who needs to do the same to be prepared, communicate with your home clinic and counselor to get the paperwork started as early as possible, that's what takes the longest. My wait wasn't as long as I was anticipating, especially for a Friday. Thank you very much to everyone there that made it possible for me to get my medication when I needed it very much.
