This is the place you’re looking for. You are treated as an adult and still have your freedoms. The gates are open so you’re free to leave but I’m willing to bet if you come with an open mind and heart you won’t want to. If you’re wanting help and looking for a beautiful place for you to look inside and work on what’s necessary to get sober, this is it. The staff truly cares about you and your sobriety. I wasn’t really excited about coming here, because who really wants to go to treatment, but I now feel that I have a second home.

Ample handicapped parking, when you walk up they are ALWAYS playing patriotic music, doors can be opened automatically or if you prefer to just push but most of the time the security guard scrambles to do it for you and pushes the automatic button for you. The front desk staff, the nursing staff, the social services staff, radiology… absolutely the best of the best- they never ever lose their cool with some of the grumpier old Veterans (which by the way they ARE a Veteran- they have earned the right to be grumpy- just not rude y’all 😉)❤️🤍💙🇱🇷Anyways- every time I go with my dad- He’s a Vietnam Veteran- I’m always amazed at how so very kind, upmost respectful and sweet the staff is. Not sure about other medical staff but my dad has Dr Gautam, Mrs. Myra and a new nurse (I can’t remember her name) but by golly this crew is so attentive, listens, finds solutions and helps my dad AND me with him! They should be so proud of the service they provide to our Veterans! Just exemplary service from the minute you walk in till you leave🇱🇷♥️🤍💙❤️🤍💙

After reading the reviews, we were terrified to leave our family member at Compass in Opelusas. However, we were pleasantly surprised. The social worker, Claire, was very helpful, keeping us updated with medication changes and progress reports. She was kind and never made us feel like an inconvenience when we called. Pam was patient and willing to listen to our concerns. Clara was such a sweet aide, taking extra time with her during her shift to ensure she didn't feel lonely. The psychiatrists were both very attentive to behavior changes and quick to make changes to medication when needed. She was in this facility for 11 days and we are happy to say we would recommend it to others!

Compass Behavioral Center is an excellent place if you are struggling with some mental health problems. The staff is probably a little rude but is because they are very disciplined and they do their work in the right way, all that they do is for the patient's benefit.

Edgefield first caught my attention because of its location and history but upon arrival I was introduced to the compassionate staff that made me feel at home. The repuposed plantation house is such a charm with beautiful chandeliers, fireplaces, and paintings to gaze at between classes, meals, or in the afternoon. The staff was so caring and involved in my recovery process. They genuinely are concerned for the patients and it shines through all of the employees, from the physicians, techs, and lunch room employees. Being set on a quiet bayou with lots of wildlife to observe and appreciate. I recommend a volleyball game during your stay. The food was amazing and filling, so if you are on a diet I suggest passing on the 2 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches they offer as snack. Thank you for helping me so that I could help others.

Absolutely beautiful grounds and the most supportive, caring, and loving staff. From the moment I walked in at Intake I immediately felt welcomed. Was greeted by staff that also had personaly experienced the recovery journey. Having that in common made it easier for me to be able to start forgiving myself and focusing on my sobriety. The techs were able to guide me , answering all my questions and calming my anxiety. There was plenty of other clients to talk to. We enjoyed fishing, volley ball and basketball. Staff even played with us. My counselor was able to listen, be empathetic but also hold me accountable. Which I needed more than I knew at the time. The atmosphere was relaxing and perfect for my self healing. I can't thank Edgefield Recovery Center enough for giving me the opportunity to get my life back. One I am proud of. I would strongly recommend Edgefield to anyone ready to start their journey. We had nightly AA meetings, small groups, one on one counseling, mediation, yoga, gratitude, family meal's. (BTWThe food is Great!!)Edgefield Recovery Center saved me. The discharge planner was even able and willing to work with me to find me a sober living home in my preferred area to where I was able to get a job, have transportation and begin on a healthy path!! I have been using the Hammond VA Clinic as my primary care facility since September 2016 and I have to say that I have been well served with my medical needs and services there. Prior to this I used the Baton Rouge VA Clinic for at least 25 + years. As a long time VA patient having experienced Veteran's Health care services now for over 30 years I rate the Hammond VA Clinic as a premium professional health care facility.

Every time I go in for any kind of appointment, no matter what it is. I am in and out. They always give me what I need in a record amount of time. I have never seen a clinic ran this amazing before!

I never been sum1 to do drugs until recent n since then I've lost everything n didn't care about anything or anyone but that drug since then I even lost temp custody of my son due to drugs and I've tried n want to quit for a while even tried diff o.p. places that didn't helpn so far I' only been to 2 meetings at pathways 1 which was a assess for 4 hours but in that assess I talked to 3 diff people all that asked alot of ? N also that talked to me after we was done nI can tell u anyone who is looking n really wants to get clean should go here the counselor over Theo. P. Meetings is wonderful she cares and don't even attempt to judge u.. She gives me hope and shows she really wants to help me with my addiction no matter what... If only I could've met her sooner..i know now for sure I will be sober and she gives me hopes for me n my sons future She's awesome n ur addiction or past dnt matter she does not care u can see in her eyes she cares n even have to know you at all gives u hope

I came to this place the 19th of December 2024. It was a nice facility! They treated me with respect and compassion. The techs/nurses played bingo with us, we did arts and crafts, they took us outside for fresh air, they were all for the most part very professional and caring! A few people stood out to me. I was on the quiet wing and made friends while I was there. I am so very thankful for the staff at this place!!!

My experience at Palmetto was really good. The counselors and staff were amazing—so caring, supportive, and always willing to help whenever I needed it. They truly care about your recovery and make you feel comfortable and understood.
What I really liked is that it’s not like you’re confined. You have freedom and responsibility—they take you to the store, you do your own shopping and cooking, and you live in a cabin with other females. It really feels more like a community than a program. If there’s ever an issue between clients or if someone feels uncomfortable, the staff is great about rearranging cabins so everyone feels safe and supported.
Overall, Palmetto is a great place that helps you grow, learn, and get the support you need. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who’s ready to make a positive change in their life.
I want to take a moment to thank all of the staff at Palmetto who made such a big impact on my life. Macy, my counselor—thank you for helping me see things in myself that I didn’t see before. You truly opened my eyes and helped me grow in so many ways.

And one of my favorite parts was being by the bayou—it was so peaceful and relaxing. Sitting out there, fishing or just enjoying the view, really gave me time to reflect and heal. And having all the cats and dogs around and watching the deers in the woods every day we're very therapeutic .

Lincoln Nova is a great place for recovery! Excellent care with superior staffing that cares about the clients. The recreation therapist is the best in the business, and so is Ms. Andrea. I went to Mississippi drug and alcohol treatment center in June 2025. I can say I learned how to find myself. The staff there is very supportive and they are very helpful when you need someone or something to talk about. This is the BEST of the BEST. From the staff,the cooks,counselors,techs,and even the other patients there! I had an amazing experience and the program taught me a lot about myself and life. One of the techs that really stood out and helped me is Alyssa. She's an angel and a gift. If it weren't for her I probably wouldn't had come out of my shell I was in! All the talks and laughs she gave me are always in my heart. One thing I love is almost everyone that works there is in recovery! Alyssa you are my inspiration and I'm so proud of you! Palmetto is the best treatment center in Louisiana by far. Stuart, Jerry, Joseph and Beck have certainly changed my life for the better. I would say that they gave me a life. A second chance! I would recommend this place to anyone struggling with addiction. From the medical staff to the techs this place is A1 and they also accept medicaid.

I thank God I started going to Region 8. They have helped me so very much. I did have a few therapist that were not the right fit for me, so I requested a change and now I have been seeing the same one for over a year and have finally started seeing improvement. Everyone there has been great. The front desk staff are not the best but you find people who are not that nice at any place. The people who are there to help in the back have always been wonderful to me.

I have been very pleased with my son's doctor and therapist at Region 8. His doctor doesn't just write a prescription. She thoroughly questions my son and me to ensure he is getting the proper medicine, dose, and the proper care. His therapist is absolutely wonderful. She has consistently, every two weeks, visited my son at school, at home, and even now during the summer, for several years now. My son's Region 8 doctor and therapist work as a team with me and his teachers to make sure that my son gets the best care possible.

Mixed Experience – Amazing Staff, Poor Facility
I recently spent time at this mental health hospital, and while my overall experience was a mixed bag, one thing which stood out above everything else was the staff. Particularly one of the Techs named Mason.
Let’s start with the downside. The facility itself is in desperate need of updates. The environment felt more institutional than therapeutic — fluorescent lighting, peeling paint, and a general sense of neglect. Some of the common areas felt cramped and outdated, and there were moments where basic supplies or comfort items were in short supply. For a place meant to promote healing, the physical space sometimes felt more discouraging than supportive.
That said, the staff truly made all the difference. Despite working with limited resources, they showed compassion, patience, and a real commitment to helping patients feel seen and safe. Mason, in particular, stood out as a rare kind of person — calm under pressure, attentive without being overbearing, and able to bring humor and warmth to even the hardest moments. He always showed up with a smile and great energy, and I continually saw him go out of his way in order to help anyone he could. He treated everyone with respect and genuine kindness, which made a lasting impact on me and I'm sure many others.
While I can't say I’d recommend the facility based on the building alone, I would absolutely vouch for the people who work there. If the management ever invests in upgrading the space to match the quality of care being delivered, it could become a truly exceptional place.

My son has been in the residential part for kids with special needs for a year and a half now . He is a completely different kid now . He can do things I thought would take decades for him to finally do . He is taken care of and loved by the staff as if he were their own child . It’s the one on one staff and caretakers that make this facility so successful In what they are doing for our most vulnerable children .
This facility is full of employees that have been working there forever , so they know the kids and they know their job . Everyone you encounter gives 110% plus some, to their job and their commitment to these children . They make it so that I as a parent able to sleep at night knowing our kid is loved , safe , and thriving . Millcreek in my experience is the gold standard of care for special needs children and should be modeled as such by other facilities like them in the country.
