About Beginner’s Mind Substance Abuse Counseling

Beginner’s Mind Substance Abuse Counseling, based in central Nashville, Tennessee, is run by Jeffrey A. Browning. He is a therapist who walked his own recovery journey before committing to a life helping others find freedom from addiction.

He specializes in treatment resistent clients and helps families impacted by addiction. He also works with people experiencing co-occurring disorders or entering their first year of recovery. His services are available outpatient in office or via telehealth.

Develop Emotional Sobriety While in Recovery

Beginner’s Mind builds its services on the foundation of emotional sobriety. This is a methodology that helps you stay stable instead of letting your emotions sweep you away.

A big part of building this skill is meditation and learning to embrace the present moment.

Incorporate Spiritual Beliefs Into Your Healing

After experiencing several spiritual awakenings in his life, Jeffrey enthusiastically incorporates spirituality into the Beginner’s Mind’s approach. He doesn’t limit this practice to a single religion or belief system, choosing rather to embrace any higher power as a source of hope for his clients.

I've struggled with alcoholism for many years. I could not stay sober, no matter how bad I wanted to. Since I started seeing Jeff, I have maintained my sobriety and have a growing awareness of and solutions for some of my emotional and mental health issues. He has helped me work through my relationships with my wife, family, career, and most importantly my relationship with myself. I have a great deal of peace thanks to my work with Jeff and his continued support and encouragement for my sobriety and overall well being.

developing a trusting relationship with a therapist can be daunting but I felt at ease with Jeff during our first session. I have seen him now for two years and trust him implicitly with anything I’m going through.
