What the Winners Have in Common
Each of the 10 best centers on this page lists outpatient care, and most list medical detox and residential care too. This means you can begin your treatment with detox and step down gradually without leaving the centers on this list. The difference in these centers is the depth of treatment. Two of the 10 centers are accredited by the Joint Commission or CARF and more than half the list offers dual diagnosis care.
Payment is the strongest shared thread. All of the top 10 centers list private insurance as a payment option and nine of the 10 list Medicaid. Half of the centers list Medicare and more than half take military insurance.Â
The centers on this list are based in Reno, Yerington and Sparks. This means the list covers the metro rather than one corner of it.
How These Rankings Work
Each ranking begins with the Rehab Score. The score is calculated for every treatment center listed. Patient reviews are roughly half of the score. Recent reviews carry more weight than older ones. The rest of the Rehab Score rests on accreditation and licensing, how complete and specific a center’s program information is, and reputation signals such as business history and staffing.
A center must list substance use treatment and offer at least one clinical level of care, have a physical address, and be open to the general public. We rank one location per organization. Our editors screen each ranked center and its parent company and affiliates for license actions, patient-safety lawsuits and settlements, government fraud cases and credible investigations. These centers no longer qualify and are removed from the list. Programs for young people are included only when they treat substance use. No center can pay for placement on our list or in our directory. We update these rankings every quarter, and our scoring methodology page explains each input in detail.
Reno Rehab FAQs
How were these Reno rehabs chosen?
We used Rehab Score to rank these centers from among 31 eligible treatment centers in the Reno metro area. We rank only one location per organization. Treatment centers must meet several criteria to be eligible. This means they must list substance use treatment and a clinical level of care, have a street address and be open to the public. Every ranked center, its parent company and its affiliates are screened before the list is published. The centers with a recent or pending patient-safety case, a government fraud case or a license action are left out.
Do these Reno rehabs accept Medicaid or insurance?
Nearly all of the centers list Medicaid as a payment option and all 10 list private insurance. Half list Medicare and more than half list military insurance. A listing is a starting point and not a guarantee of payment. Before you are admitted, ask the program to check your coverage. Â
What levels of care do these rehabs offer?
Most of the winners list medical detox, and most list residential care. One lists partial hospitalization, most list intensive outpatient care, and all 10 list outpatient care. That spread means care can start with more support and step down over time, often inside the same organization.
