Unfortunately turn over is high. Changing providers and then the new provider also leaving in less than a year set me back. It takes a lot to build rapport and start to open up. As soon as you do your therapist has found a new home. Not a good place if you re serious about growth and improving your mental health.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We re truly sorry to hear that your time with us was impacted by provider transitions. We understand how important it is to build trust and rapport in therapy, and how challenging it can be to have that process disrupted. At GHCS, we are very intentional about onboarding clinicians who are committed to their role and to the long-term care of our clients. While turnover can occur for various reasons, we are proud to share that many of our therapists have been with our organization for several years - some since nearly the beginning of our practice a decade ago. Your mental health journey matters deeply to us, and we remain committed to your growth and success. We would truly appreciate the opportunity to connect with you directly to learn more about your experience and explore how best we can support your needs moving forward. Please don t hesitate to reach out at 832-717-7166 via call or text, whichever is more convenient for you.

Noticed someone posted a review that this company "does not contact people back" and I believe this 100%. I randomly received an email from this company attempting to collect for a "missed appointment" fee from 2016. It's 2025 and, not only do I not remember any kids using this service, but they are collecting on something 9 years later?? Either this company is a scam or they have terrible back office/record keeping. Would concern me to give this company your confidential information. Extremely skeptical.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Treatments

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Clinical Services

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

If your thinking of going to get therapy DO NOT GO HERE!!! I had three different therapist in a few months due to high turn over. They didn't even tell me what was going on. I went to my next session and had someone new. No explanation at all. They didn't even let me say good bye to my therapist or transition with the new one. It was a complete surprise. And I was working on abandonment issues so this didn't help it at all !!! This is not how an agency who prioritizes mental health should be dealing with people's fears and concerns. I don't care what could have happened, the clients mental health comes first. And secondly give a warning or some type of explanation of what is going on. It seems they don't take care of their clients or therapist and just want the pay for the session. See previous reviews to know I'm not the only one who's been dealing with this. Greater counseling center get it together or you'll end up shutting down due to loss of clients. Please reach out to the board on how to actually deal with these situations for future therapist and clients because this is not it.

Hi Stephanie,

We’re truly sorry to hear about your experience and appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. At Greater Houston Counseling Services, our clients are always at the center of what we do. We understand how deeply important trust, stability, and clear communication are in the therapeutic relationship, especially when working through sensitive issues like abandonment.

While we cannot speak to specific client matters in a public forum, please know that we keep detailed records of all communication and transitions to ensure continuity of care. It is our standard practice to reach out to clients directly when a transition is necessary, discuss the upcoming change, and offer either a final session with the outgoing therapist or a thoughtful transition to a new provider, whichever the client prefers. Clients lead that process, and we work hard to support their choices. When we’re unable to reach someone directly, we leave voicemails and send text messages using the contact information we have on file.

We sincerely apologize if there was any lapse in communication in your case. That’s never the experience we aim to provide, and we welcome the opportunity to speak directly and learn more so we can grow from the feedback.

While transitions do occasionally happen, they are not reflective of the overall stability of our team. Many of our clinicians have been with GHCS for the majority of our nearly decade-long journey, which speaks to the strong foundation and values we’ve built as an organization. Their long-term commitment allows us to offer clients a stable and experienced team dedicated to quality care.

If you're open to it, we’d appreciate the chance to speak with you further. Please feel free to reach out to us directly at Info@GreaterHoustonCounselingServices.com. We are always open to reflection and growth, especially if it helps us continue putting clients first in everything we do.

With care,
— GHCS Leadership Team
The environment at GHCS isn't conducive to a positive mental health treatment plan. There is no continuity with therapists and patients as you're handed off to multiple therapists due to them quitting or being fired so often. They don't give you the courtesy of knowing until you attend your next appointment. They don't seem to make your mental health a priority.

Response from the ownerInvalid relative date format:
Thanks for sharing your thoughts about the experience you’ve had. It’s important to us to be able and learn and grow as an organization as we continue to serve the needs of the community.

Please rest assured that top notch mental health care is our number one priority. I’m sorry if you’ve found yourself in a transition between therapists. As we are working through transition there are times when therapists leave, as with any organization, and we re-evaluate the fit with our organization to ensure we are delivering the best service we can.

I’d truly appreciate the opportunity
to talk with you more about your experiences. Thanks again for your time!

Don't waste your time. I've been going to the Spring location for a year now. I've had THREE therapists quit during this year. My last therapist just quit last week and my daughter's therapist quit the week before. There's also a new receptionist there almost every time I'm there or there's no one at the front desk at all. There's also been times when I couldn't get a hold of anyone to change an appointment. This has been a waste of time and money since I've had to start over so many times I'm not seeing the progress like I should've by now.

Response from the ownerInvalid relative date format:
Hi Kaitlin,

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and concerns about your experience at GHCS. We truly value your feedback and want to address the issue you raised regarding the turnover of staff at our office.

We appreciate your understanding that staff changes can arise for a variety of reasons, both positive and challenging. It’s an unavoidable part of any organization, and though we aim for a stable team, there are instances where circumstances necessitate adjustments. These changes do not necessarily imply that individuals have resigned; at times, it may be a result of ensuring the best fit for our clients by making decisions about the therapeutic team composition.

It is also important to note that given the size of GHCS, with 4 locations, there are occasions when our support staff may need to assist at different sites to ensure comprehensive and efficient support for all of our clients, as well as much needed vacations for our staff. We understand that this may create a scenario where you encounter different faces during your visit. Please be assured that what may seem like turnover can often just be teamwork in disguise.

That being said, we are genuinely sorry that you feel the experience has hindered you and your daughter’s journey and we’d love the opportunity to make this right. Please reach out to our Administrative Team Lead at 832-717-7166 and allow us to personally express our apologies and see if we can’t pair you with the perfect clinician for your needs; whether that be with GHCS or another local provider.

Thank you again for sharing your concerns. We are here to support you, and we hope to welcome you back to GHCS soon!

We saw Sandra for my daughter's ADHD evaluation and we were not impressed.

Response from the ownerInvalid relative date format:
