My stays at HCMC inpatient psych have been disappointing. Each time I was there I was treated as though I didn't belong because my symptoms were not as severe as some other patients. Even though I reported suicidal ideation I was told that "some of the patients here can't even function", even though I held no job at that time and continued to lose work because of my dual diagnosis. The stay I was just discharged from left me feeling dismissed. I am trying to stay sober and was in dire need of a medication change due to the severity of withdrawls and complications I was having with an SNRI. My doctor didn't give a feasible answer in what was happening to me, made snide remarks, and told me I'd be leaving the next day. For all I know there was a shortage of beds or some hidden reason behind the scenes but I felt that the symptoms that brought me in were minimized and discarded. I've been to a few other crisis centers but was never treated like this......
