Goodwill Industries of the Columbia Willamette (GICW) is a nationwide program that offers vocational support and opportunities for the disabled and people with significant employment barriers. They have offices across several cities in Oregon, including this one in Albany. This facility is near Highway 34 and about 1.5 miles north of Takena Landing Park.

They support individuals in recovery from substance use disorder, formerly incarcerated individuals and those experiencing homelessness. They can also support youths aging out of foster care and survivors of domestic violence. Clients served have challenges ranging from lack of stable housing, limited work experience and gaps in education or skills. This makes it more difficult for them to secure and maintain jobs.

Comprehensive Recovery Social Support Services

You can think of GICW as recovery social support services providers. From career counseling to educational and vocational training and housing, these services are essential in helping you maintain stability and lasting abstinence as you progress in your recovery journey.

They can provide resumes & cover letters, personalized job leads & referrals and skill reviews & assessments. Their specialized Training and Development program involves three employment-focused training that can really be helpful in your current and ongoing career needs. These specialized training projects include Career Centers (CC) and employee community education (ECE).

ECE provides free educational workshops and class opportunities that foster personal and professional skills building. The services encompass leadership development workshops, career building and financial literacy alongside health & wellness and family strengthening. The Career Center provides Microsoft Office, Google Workspace and Computer Basics classes. These trainings facilitate fast reentry into the labor market as you move forward in recovery. The best part is that the classes are available both virtually and onsite.

Services for Seamless Re-Entry

GICW can seamlessly link you to employers willing to work with employees in recovery through their network of partners. They provide housing support and assist with navigating homelessness. This support may include help with finding temporary shelter, securing permanent housing and accessing financial assistance for housing needs.

They may offer assistance in financing your rent even while on residential care. Most of these services are part of their Foundation Community Supports (FCS), which supports people with extreme job and employment issues. It’s all about helping you achieve stability and independence as you move forward in your recovery journey.

I've VERY rarely had a good experience at any of the Goodwill locations especially donating items. They are so picky about what they'll take that I might as well sell them myself, or offer them for free on Facebook. I've been turned away so many times that I've given up donating items to this organization. They have refused to take items that are in like new condition just because I didn't have the original packaging!! Your donations sprog do more good if you took them to an actual non-profit anyway.

Editing my review after shopping here for two years. The stock is meh and there is almost no sales color tags.I went in the other day and the two things I was considering was a target jacket without tags and an 8 year old book. It would have been just short of $40 ($30+8)!! For a used jacket and random old book! You don't even get donation coupons at this location.

Inpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. What an absolutely terrible store. This place used to be much better, but in typical Goodwill fashion they got incredibly greedy and ruined this store. I don’t even know where to begin. Their prices are obscene and most of anything worth buying is funneled out of the store so that nobody locally can buy it. This is why most of the stuff in Goodwill is either Target donations priced higher than Target could sell, or broken, damaged or cheap crap left over from yard sales. Everything you touch is damaged in some way, or has something wrong with it. They check nothing and do not care. If you want to pay the same as eBay and get a worse product, this is the store for you. They do not care about anything but profits and think they are direct competitors with Amazon and eBay. Stay far, far away. Go to literally any other second hand store. This is by far the worst place in Albany, Corvallis and Lebanon. Also don’t forget they fired EVERY disabled person who worked for them, but left the posters with their faces on them in the entry way to scam customers into thinking they are helping the community.

I emailed and then spoked to a Ashley about jobs, resumes and making an appointment, given my info etc then after all this, she never responded with anything but empty promises, i even wanted to attend a job fair but told me not to that just let her know to set up an appointment and I did let her know I would like to set up an appointment but never did. Have emails to prove. Goodwill does NOT help as they should. Sure given me few job leads but nothing and i did fill out and i an on disability so i was hoping they could help cause the workforce doesn’t really want to work a lot with those under disability. Again NOT helpful. May be time to write the corporate office….

EDIT 1: this is no longer a place for cheap books even, like most Goodwill's it has become about making a big profit instead of having good deals. Try and other thrift store. If your looking for a plethora of good deals, this might not be your store. The upside is quite a few good prices books, new books almost everyday in the whole fiction section. It's also decently sanitary. obviously it's a thrift store, so wear gloves if you dont like germs! The employees are all very nice. The biggest issue is the severe lack of 50% stickers on items. There is little to no same color stickers on the half off day. Items that were at one point, a blue sticker on a yellow day, are now yellow on a blue day. The second issue is the outrageously inconsistent price ranges. All in all, it's a goodwill, what do you expect?

Prices are getting too high at goodwills in general but the thing that really peeved me is that this goodwill only does a senior discount on wednesdays! One day a week?!?! Really?!?! Of all of the goodwills that i have been in this is the only one that is so greedy that it finds the need to screw over senior citizens 6 days of the week!! I wont be going back to this one
