Today I helped a Vietnam era veteran. Remember as a veteran sometimes we struggle. When you see a service person in need of help, do what the Lord installed in your heart love of one another.
The gentleman was in need. I would encourage anyone whether you're a veteran or not. Help the elderly.
My suggestion would be to take an index card and put the person's first name only, last four if you're a veteran and POC. Place this in a plastic bag and safety pin it to the person in some form or fashion.
This would eliminate hours of wasted time helping people to connect with loved ones.
Let them know the Lord brought you to them out of love because he first loved us.
One other advice if you're helping someone and you have to walk away give them something of yours to assure them you will return. A small act of kindness goes a long way.
The Lord sees all and never forgets. Lose the attitude of someone not being your race. When you served you should NEVER see race. Remember that.
You don't know who may be near you to save your life. We leave no one behind. Amen

I never leave reviews but today 08/16/2025 I received the best care I have ever received at any hospital. My first nurse Darleen in the emergency room was super sweet and whatever I needed she was right there. I had a small surgery so they moved me to another floor , and I had the best nurse and PCT Elen which was amazing! Shoutout Nurse Taylor for being an angel/best nurse to me. Also my surgeon/doctor Matteo is the best and helped me calm my nerves because hospitals make me a bit nervous. Thank you all again for taking the best care of me .

I had surgery at your facility today, and I feel compelled to share just how profoundly grateful I am for the care I received. From the very first step of the process to the moment I was discharged, every single staff member I encountered—receptionists, nurses, anesthesiologists, physicians, and beyond—treated me with a level of kindness, dignity, and humanity that quite honestly changed my outlook on healthcare.
In the past, I’ve had multiple experiences at Hackensack Hospital that left me feeling dismissed, unseen, and, frankly, dehumanized. The care there was impersonal at best and emotionally damaging at worst. It instilled in me a deep sense of fear and anxiety about seeking medical treatment again.
However, being under the care of Dr. Lieberman at Holy Name changed everything. It was because of him that I chose to have my procedure done here—and I’m so glad I did. Evas is a decent place that genuinely cares about there clients. I'd honestly say it's the best state funded halfway house in NJ. I've been here 6 months with no real complaints. The food could be a little better but at the end of the day it's a good place. Obviously this place is state funded and the majority of clients are on drug court or parole so there is no jacuzzi, pool and horses but like I said it’s not a bad place

I am and will forever be so grateful to this place and its staff. I feel I’ve learned so much about myself and now have a good awareness of why I’ve felt the way I have my whole life, so irritable and disconnected from the world. Big thank you to all the staff, Tamara, Ms. Mayling, Bryant, Dwayne, Tim, Ms Keisha, Isabella, Patrick, The Dave’s, Ms.Q, Gus, Vince, Dawn, all have the interns, everybody there helped me more then they will ever know by teaching me how to get honest and open minded to a new way of life. Turning point as well as life in general is what you make of it, I’ve been fighting with drug addiction for 20yrs and could never understand why no matter how successful I would get on the outside I would always turn back to drugs in the end. I finally came to understand that for me it had to be addressed on the inside, I had to open up about everything I’ve ever been through whether I thought it was relevant or not to my addiction. I’m so grateful that I’ve finally surrendered to this process, learned how to accept my past, help, and that this is a life long process that is well worth the effort. Straight & Narrow is not perfect, but neither is anyone. They have they're flaws and imperfections just like I do. If the place was absolutely perfect people would find something to complain about. It's just how it goes. I had a warm bed, hot food, and although the groups were limited, it was my choice to attend more than I was scheduled to go to. So that's what I did. People complained about group time and then complained about down time because they were bored.. I guess it's a journey that is decided individually. I opted to go to every group everyday and every opportunity I had I would volunteer for things to do to help. I was rarely bored and always looked forward to the weekdays rather than weekends because I liked the groups. They didn't keep me longer than originally discussed when I arrived as others were saying. But then again, maybe others didn't participate to their potential or maybe others didn't take the initiative to show their counselors what their intentions were. Some people want to get better and some people are court ordered to be there. The. Some, like me, were court ordered but wanted to get better. I completed a relapse prevention plan to present to my counselor and constantly asked her for more work books to better myself so she knew my intention was authentic. I guess I just felt that it was important for me to clarify my experience there because nobody pointed out anything positive, here's something. THE PLACE GAVE YOU ANOTHER CHANCE AT LIFE, IF YOU DONT TAKE IT AND IMMERSE YOURSELF INTO YOUR RECOVERY, YOUR DOOMED TO REPEAT HISTORY. The only shot we have is inside of us, the four walls doesn't mean a whole lot. it's your personal motivation.. Ask yourself what you want more and why. Thank you straight & narrow for the opportunity to take advantage of your program and I couldn't be more pleased with the majority of the staff. My counselor, Emily, was a super helpful person and important role in my early recovery. She challenged my answers, which I respect, and she also made me be accountable for my own recovery. She Cares, that's ultimately how I feel about her and I can't thank her enough. I would recommend this facility to anyone who wants recovery and isn't worried more about the color of the paint or what mattress they have, that person probably doesn't want recovery to begin with....

So today is 2 years and a few days that I walked into cornerstone probably for the 4 time.This time I was broken beaten and lost.I surrendered did the 28 days went into inpatient made it to reentry and as of 3 days ago I have completed my Certification training as a Certified peer advocate Recovery coach/ Harm Reduction and Medication supported Recovery. I am also a NYS Mandatory reporter. I lived a life of crime for over 30 years did 13 years became an addicted using as an escape from reality life and pain. I have not looked back nor have I made a compromise.I had more people at Cornerstone that belIved in me and saw who I really was and wanted to become.I dropped all my baggage negative reservations everything and anything that was an excuse or reason to do what I was doing. I want to name names but it wouldn't be fair to forget one and leave someone out.

You know, seeing a 4.4 star rating on anything to do with addiction, is a flat out miracle. Addicts are some of the whiniest, hardest people to please. So the rating itself should be a testament. I’ve been in this program for a few years now, even commuting from white plains. That’s how much I love it. They are so wonderful here and I truly feel that treatment was so therapeutic. They have wonderful groups and DBT and make sure your needs are met and accounted for. They were super flexible to grant me time to celebrate my mom's birthday! Shout out to all especially to Melissa, Rena, and Romesa for their help. Dr. Darly along with Dr. Mehta and Dr Preethi were so amazing. Charge nurse Gitu is amazing and make sure we take our meds to get well. Shout out to Allison, Alyssa, Cris and the most amzazing Mojadas.We can't forget the maintenance crew, along with kitchen staff and mojadas. They deserve a raise.
