⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Nurse Brenda Murphy provided exceptional care during her End-of-Life Doula training. Her presence was compassionate, calming, and deeply respectful. She listens with her whole heart and brings a sense of dignity, comfort, and humanity to every moment. Fairbanks Memorial Hospital is fortunate to have someone so dedicated and gifted. Brenda’s care made a meaningful difference, and I’m grateful for the kindness she brought to a very tender experience.

I have been here 3 times for emergency care and they have been professional and prompt every single time so far. No complaints at all on care or bedside manner. 3rd time was today for blood pressure.

As soon as I arrived into the ED via EMS I was greeted w/courtesy & friendly staff. Each member of the ED treated me w/respect, dignity & care. The nurse & PA were vigilant on checking on me (as I was by myself) regarding my pain level as well as whether there was anything that I needed. The ultrasound tech was terrific. Although I was uncomfortable, she managed to be as gentle as possible while ultrasounding my abdomen. The PA explained the results thoroughly & welcomed and answered all my questions. I eventually was admitted and scheduled for surgery the next morning. I was placed in the pediatric dept as the hospital was full. The kindness & attentiveness of RN's Sharita & Raleigh was wonderful. They both were amazing nurses. Again, very on top of my needs, pain control & keeping me apprised of when I would be having surgery. Dr. Tsigonis was my surgeon. He was, well, one of the best doctors I have had the pleasure of meeting. Friendly, kind speaking, did not talk above my level (if you know what I mean) He answered all my questions and concerns. He even made time to update my son. Which, in my experience, the nurse or PA usually does. Pre-Op/post-op & anesthesia were also fantastic. For having to come in on a cold snowy Sunday, they were super caring & kind. Oh, btw, I'm a retired ED RN here in Fairbanks helping my DIL while my son was deployed. So, I have plenty of experience working w/the medical teams. I would wholeheartedly recommend this hospital to anyone who has an emergency. I did not have one "bad" moment the entire stay. I sincerely thank all the staff from this hospital for taking care of me and doing it with kindness.

I've truly enjoyed all my appointments at Turning Point, from initial, more regular sessions through my occasional "tune ups." I've enjoyed welcomed validation as well as challenging conversation on my path to becoming more secure and grounded in my self-care. Thank you!

Hands down the best counseling services in Fairbanks. The owners, Joseph and Gunnar, are probably 2 of the most skilled compassionate people I’ve ever met. They specialize in brain spotting, an effective treatment for trauma. They are the best in the business. Johnathan is also great with kids. I wouldn’t recommend anyone else!

If you're considering becoming a foster parent in Alaska through Family Centered Services of Alaska (FCSA), I urge you to pause and prepare yourself for the reality—not the recruitment brochure. FCSA offers what seems like a dream opportunity: a fully furnished 6 to 7-bedroom home, relocation reimbursement, and a promise of support. The catch? Once you're locked in—after uprooting your life and possibly moving across states—you quickly learn that the picture painted was extremely misleading. Upon arrival, you're informed that you'll only be allowed to take one to two children during your first year, regardless of your qualifications or availability. Meanwhile, that “free” home? It becomes an unaffordable burden. Once a second child is placed, the agency begins deducting an outrageous utility “reimbursement” from your checks—averaging $1,300 per month during the summer and as high as $3,000 in the winter. These deductions are non-negotiable and not clearly outlined before arrival. Let’s be clear: you are an independent contractor. That means no employee rights, no benefits, and no legal protection from unfair treatment. FCSA is a child placement agency with layers of red tape and power imbalances. The organization seems more interested in controlling your household than supporting the children they place. Expect frequent, often unnecessary home visits and meetings where parenting advice is dished out by staff who’ve never raised a child of their own. Worse, if your personality doesn’t mesh with theirs or you push back—particularly on ethical or culturally sensitive matters—you may find yourself sidelined, reprimanded, or subjected to isolating “counseling” sessions. Advocacy is not celebrated here—compliance is. The most glaring issue? The lack of transparency. You are not told that it may take 6 months to a year before any child is placed with you. Fantastic organization. If you intend on fostering, FCSA is the organization to do it through. Firstly, we were notified of the process and all expectations so we weren’t blindsided by anything as the State of Alaska does the background checks (my wife is from Texas so the process took a bit longer). You’ll have a case manager, and our experience has been, they are very supportive. They’ll explain the difference between TFHG and community-based foster care (in case you wanted to consider one over the other). We’ve honestly never had a bad experience working with the agency; my wife and I have worked with the agency for about 3-4 years now. Everyone from the case managers to the clinicians are all very nice and supportive. The reimbursements are more than fair and the homes they provide are amazing. As long as you’re willing to accept feedback, treat the children well with care, and stay on top of documentation responsibilities, you’ll do fine at the agency. My wife and I don’t see ourselves going anywhere anytime soon. :).

I absolutely love this church. I have grown so much as a Christian and as a person here, more than any other church I’ve been in in my life. I love the variety of people and have developed many close friendships. The preaching is powerful and true to God’s word. And I love how many missionaries come through our church presenting the need of the world . God has blessed our church with tremendous leadership and people.
