About Alpena Regional Hospital Center

This hospital is a lot like most hospitals you’re familiar with where they have departments for different specialties like cardiology and women’s health. Within the behavioral health department, though, they have inpatient and outpatient treatment for mental illness and drug and alcohol addiction. With such a strong mental health program, this is an especially good prospect for people who have dual diagnosis. That means you are experiencing a substance use disorder as well as one or more mental health conditions.

Your treatment here is individualized to what you need for your one of a kind recovery journey. The facility is part of the expansive University of Michigan Health system, too, so if they don’t have the specific level of care you need here, or if you need different levels of care at different times in your recovery journey, they’ll be able to coordinate your care with the right facility.

I was in excruciating pain and in danger of having a perforated lung from a broken rib. I had to force myself to try and sit in the waiting room of the ER which just made the problem worse and I was struggling to breathe. I passed out from the combo of the inability to breathe and the pain. My gf has to yell at the staff behind the window to do something, which was simply to check my O2 stats and that was it. Sat like that for 3 hours when we decided I was better off having my gf drive us to the ER in Tawas so I didn't drop dead in an ER waiting room. I was in and out in an hour. Don't bother going to this ER even if you have life threatening complications. Your nothing to them. You'll die in the waiting room.

If you’re local or not take the drive to a Munson or even McLaren!! I been going for months with the same issue right side pain and severe swelling and even once admitted for sepsis to which they discharged me while still having it! Finally went to the walk in care at well now they are amazing! I showed her my labs over the times I went and they immediately were disgusted of the lab results, reason of visiting, and lack of testing done that should have been! I went as far as going to the office to make a formal complaint on the same two, one doctor one nurse that I had issues with still nothing done! Highly unprofessional! If you want real answers and treatment go somewhere else! They only will treat up like a drug seeking person and give it to you with no real testing and answers!

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Treatments

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Military Program

Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Group therapy sessions in Michigan allow you to share responsibility with your peers in a group setting. This fosters a collective commitment to achieve sobriety and learn coping skills that are essential to improving your relationships and reducing your stress levels.

Personalized therapy sessions for drug addiction emphasize understanding your background and behavioral triggers for substance use. Your therapist will collaborate with you to create an effective coping strategy and address underlying issues that clear the way for lasting change.

Not enough Doctor's or nurse for the size of Alpena, not to mention that no one really cares,it should never take 5 hours just to be checked in by a nurse, the lack of man power is scary are you really getting the right treatment for your elmet.

Was referred to here from my doctor for an ultrasound. Ultrasound referal was returned because of the wrong "verbage." Said to call back in town days. So I did, and only to be told they are three days behind in scheduling and referrals because they are scheduling for multiple hospitals? What kind of billion dollar company does this to their patients? This list goes on.

Not bad wait time for the er however they have extremely limited capabilities and have no problem taking charging you while also telling you to go figure it out on your own. Basically don’t come here unless you’re actively dying.

Close the place down. They either provide inadequate care or none at all.

So my step child cut his foot open we was turned away from urgent care and got set to the emergency room. Now we have been here for over 2 and half hours and still the most is they did brought him back said he needed stichs sent him back to the waiting room we have been waiting so long his wound started to bleed again. This place wasn't busy when we arrived the time to be serviced is outrageous. If you are in need of emergency attention do not bring them here if you love them.
