Steven
I entered The Gateway Foundation on October 31st 1996, my life had become unmanageable up until that point due to my addiction to cocaine. Thanks to Tyrone Anderson, who was an addiction counselor there at that time, and my mother, my life took a dramatic turn. Upon entering the facility my first 10 minutes after walking through the door they took a picture of me right there at the front door,I later learned why one year later. They admitted me right in the middle of a big Halloween party they were having that night ,my first thought was,.well alright.! this place is going to work out just fine.! walked right into a party right off the street. But oh boy, what a change of mind I had the next few days. I thought I had seen all the tricks in the book after completing basic training in the military,.USAF at that ! but my experiences at Gateway Foundation for one whole year,.OMG ! I hadn't seen nothing. I thought that I had done every kind of menial chores from mopping ,and cleaning ,scrubbing ,you name it ,while going through basic training in the military,.ha ! And my drill sergeant would shudder if he had to endure what we called at Gateway during that time a 'smoking". Basically it's when you mess up or violate a rule, you are commanded to go down in the basement, right below the meeting hall, where everybody can hear you get your feelings blowed out your mind, and heart by your fellow classmates in one of the loudest, meanest super aggressive verbal reprimands you have ever had in your life,.but it does get your attention though,.LOL. I'm saying all this to say that as addicts, we sometimes endure much worse treatment on the mean streets and environments of drug and alcohol addiction, but we are not discouraged by not so friendly people out there to still acquire our drugs of choice. Thanks to the environment of peer assisted treatment I received at Gateway, it helped me face the reality of life on the streets as an addict. I'm not saying that everything worked out perfect after leaving Gateway, we all struggle through the up's and downs of recovery, it's knowing how to get back on the right track, how to stay on the right track,, where and how to seek help when we fall that's important to continuing your life of sobriety. Thanks to the educational and therapeutical experiences I received from Gateway, I can proudly say that I am a happy, successful and drug free person to this very day.and I look nothing like that admission picture from 28 years ago.I encourage all who read this ,if you or someone you know is struggling with substance abuse issues, consider getting the help you need from The Gateway Foundation, I'm thankful my family did it for me. My dad was brought here for continued care, and I can confidently say this is the best LTACH we’ve experienced. Most of the employees here are incredibly compassionate, attentive, and genuinely caring. The staff overall are truly GREAT!
Starting with the 3rd floor Nursing Manager, Joshua — an exceptional leader. He is understanding, a great listener, and was consistently supportive. He made a difficult time so much more bearable for our entire family. We are truly grateful for his presence and professionalism.
A big thanks also goes to the night-shift Nurse Supervisor, Chris, who was equally outstanding and always on top of things.
The nursing team deserves major recognition as well. Sylvia is top tier, and Andrea, Brigitte, Fidaa, Bosky, Jennifer, Dorian, Ritchie, Rincy, and Agaa were all excellent and deeply caring throughout.
Respiratory Tech Joby stood out for his professionalism and kindness, along with team members like Vikram, Mercy, Billy, Benzie, and Anna. Unfortunately, I have to give 4 stars instead of 5 due to one very poor experience with a tech named Sheena, which did affect our overall impression of the respiratory department.
I also want to commend the wonderful security team at the main entrance — Fedle, Bob, and Jerry were always warm and helpful. Special shoutout to Jasimine for her positive attitude.
There are many more staff members whose names I can’t recall, but they all contributed to a truly positive experience. If you’re considering this facility for a loved one, I wholeheartedly recommend it. You can bring your family member here with peace of mind knowing they’ll be well cared for.

This is my second time at Care Addiction Center, I wasn t ready to change the first time back in 2019. This time I made the decision that I was going to do whatever was recommended of me, which is why I reached out.Matt Goff who runs the facility, welcomed me back with open arms after messaging him this second time around when I needed help. He didn't message me back he picked up the phone and called me! Their wasn't an ounce of judgement in his voice, just pure concern for my well-being, and he remembered details of my time there from 6 years ago. 100's of people have come through that facility in that timeframe, and he picked up from 6 years ago remembering me without missing a beat. Not only that, but I got in to meet with him the next day, and I was in a seat at the facility for IOP the next night. Which was a huge relief, and a large weight had been lifted off my shoulders knowing that I was in great hands.Alice is another amazing person at this facility. She has been my guide through this very difficult process of recovery, and is one of the finest therapist s I have had the pleasure to work with. She leads groups on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and does family groups on Saturday, along with her individual sessions as well. She figured me out the first day I met her, which was refreshing and much needed. She understands how confusing and overwhelming addiction can be, but breaks it down in a way that makes sense, and keeps things simple for a brain that is healing itself. It was meant to be for me to cross paths with Alice.Torri is another phenomenal person at the facility, and a therapist at the facility that leads the groups on Mondays and Thursdays along with her individual sessions with clientele here. Her infectious laugh, and incredible intelligence in all modalities of the recovery process will make you want to click your pen and take as many notes as possible to learn how to overcome this disease of addiction. She will tell it how it is, but give you a hug when you need it.Nurse Jerry is one of the kindest down to earth people you will also meet during your time here. During the medical assessment he not only performed all the necessary medical exams with pure professionalism, and integrity. But he also had a heart to heart conversation with me, that made me feel welcome, and let me know that I was not alone in this process. There was no rush, just cared about my overall well-being which to me is huge.I don't take these reviews lightly, especially for something as serious as addiction. But if you want to take the first step, or whatever step you are on in order to change your life, then this is place for you. They will do everything they can to help you succeed, but you have to want it!Thank you everyone at the Care Addiction Center, you have truly changed my life and I can't wait to see what else I can learn from you guys over the beginning of my recovery process, and the rest of my life! Thanks Again For Everything,Kelly Scott Harm Jr.

The outpatient program at Rosecrance has been invaluable to my recovery. Dominique demonstrates an authentic commitment to helping me, and others in the group, maintain our sobriety. Whether it is through therapeutic programming, providing resources to enable our recovery, or just simply by helping navigate confusing financial aid forms, she is all in and wants to see her clients succeed. Clients can receive medication assisted treatm | Treatments Programs Payment Options | SAVING LIVES, 24/7, 365. I never expected in my wildest dreams to discover such a unique and outstanding program in an unassuming building in the suburbs of Chicago. They're genuinely innovative and there's a subtle but real magic to the place. At the end of the day, Lighthouse is a collection of extraordinary people. Most notably, Nate Lanthrum, the founder and clinical director. He's assembled the most passionate, effective and dedicated team imaginable.
For those directly effected by substance abuse including the families and loved ones, you could not be more fortunate to have Lighthouse as a resource at your disposal. In terms of quality, Lighthouse is in a category of its own. It's far better than the best of the best programs I've encountered. It may not have the luxurious offerings of a facility like "Promises" in Malibu but it certainly makes up for the lack superficial luxuries with substance, authenticity and effectiveness 1,000 fold..
Lighthouse offers something money cannot buy; people who for whatever reason care about you and your loved ones. All treatment plans are customized to each individual that walks through the door. It's a fundamentally different approach to the recovery process. It's not a static program either because Nate makes sure to stay up-to-date with the latest treatment methods and he'll incorporate something if it works.
Everyone that works at Lighthouse is of the highest quality and character. The key players off the top of my head are Nate, Dr Steve Holtsford (the "House" Addiction Medicine Expert), Marty who handles intake and paperwork, Dominic (Task Master and human whisperer) and last; the greatest psychotherapist working in the field, Rehna Becker (mother nature's improvement on Carl Jung). I do not have enough superlatives for Nate. He is the best of men. Steve is an emergency room doctor and a brilliant addiction medicine specialist. Marty has to focus on the business side of the operation to ensure the doors stay open. He's an honest guy and hard-working guy doing a thankless and unglamorous job. Dominic fulfills so many roles it's impossible to pigeonhole him but he's a walking blessing. He's much better read than most Nobel laureates, never complains, and will likely be your most consistent point of contact (he's a fixer and a closer, a gentleman and scholar). Rehna is some kind of sorceress. The things she does by intuition cannot be taught. Then there's Emily Mohls who handles psychiatric issues with an ocean of compassion while staying up to the minute with the most revolutionary treatments.
Altogether, this group is the "Seal Team 6" of recovery. As a business and as a treatment facility they exemplify the best of human virtue and character. They treat each person who walks through their doors with the dignity and respect they deserve. You could search the world over for a better team, a more "advanced" or "cutting edge" program, even a different paradigm but as someone who tried everything else, and I do mean EVERYTHING, you won't find it. If you do, let me know. I'm posting this under my real name. I'm too grateful to be proud.

I have tried several other places for MAT care for substance abuse and I have to say that Dr Steven Holtsford is hands down the absolute best. He treats you like a individual person, not a text book case of addiction. He cares, he listens and he helps you. Sobriety is possible for me! Thank you Dr Holtsford!!!
Dominic and Eva are also very kind and compassionate people that work closely with the Dr. They are there to help you every step of the way. Without you guys I couldn't have made it.
If you are struggling with addiction and are looking for the best place to go, you've found it!!! Look no further.

And even if the news wasn't great, she communicated with me every step of the way) none of the lost prescription was Hines' fault, responsibility falls solely on the USPS. Thank you Heather

After years of revolving door treatment This was the 1st clinic that actually helped me followed up with me constantly checking on how I'm doing. The staff are caring compassionate and Frankly I owe All of them more thanks than I could ever give for helping me change my life for the better This place is really not just about medication. Eddie sat down with me for several hours to help me navigate my way through an insurance issue affecting my eligibility at the clinic for the past 4 years; with his patience, help and guidance I finally found an insurance plan through health market place that not only covered Symmetria and my medication, but was far less expensive than the plan that I have been on.Thank you Eddie, couldn t have gotten it done without you..

I have been here for 3 1/2 weeks in the ICU(153). My medical care has been excellent from many doctors and nurses! The therapy is mediocre and RT s in general are quite poor. The RT s in general speak very little English so most of the time I just did my own treatments. The strength of the medical care overshadowed the weaker areas. One other strength is it is the best hospital food I have ever had and I'm a picky eater!!

I've been here twice... Certainly the best 28 day program in the area. Two amazing counselors who educate residence on addiction and push and motivate them to be better. I am grateful to this place however ashamed that I relapsed again after two stays here. They certainly did there best... And do not take into account the bad reviews. If you've been to several programs and treatment centers around Chicago then you know HAS is one of the better ones.HAS, Keep up the good work and thank Hose for giving me so many chances, you guys help those who want it.
