A little over 16 years ago I was a broken man, literally dying. High Watch and its amazing staff taught me how to live a life without alcohol and drugs and gave me all the tools to become the person I am today. Sober for over 16 years straight!

The best decision I ever made, this wasn't my first treatment center but definitely the last. I spent 6 months here and changed my life forever. The program and top notch AA, the staff is unforgettable. This place can change your life too but remember the work is personal. They give you the tools and teach you how to use them its up to you after that. The program invites you to change you just have to be willing. If you had a bad experience maybe you were looking for an exertional change, this is an inside job at the end of the day. Good luck if you in need of help, this is the first step. Highly recommended.

Turnbridge was a very formative experience for me as it helped me learn how to utilize coping skills and maintain sobriety. I am a current client at mountainside in the sober living house and I am so grateful for every second I have spent here. I have been here for almost 4 months and have been through all programs by this point. When I got here I was met by friendly faces when being brought into detox. I didn’t feel uncomfortable at any moment and thanks to the amazing detox staff I had a very zero stress and cozy stay. To the residential staff, you all are absolutely AMAZING! I cannot thank everyone enough for making the 47 days with you guys made me feel heard and loved. To Ally, thank you for letting me share my experience with you and being a friend to me and helping me through some hard times. I will forever be grateful for you. PHP was a nice step down from all the restrictions. Being able to spend some outside time at meetings or going out for some good food was very helpful to showing that I really can have fun sober. Sober living so far through mountainside has been a life changing experience. I definitely lucked out with having some of the best roommates ever! Mario was amazing during my first month in the house. As a recovery coach he helped me get on track with my recovery and think of goals that I would like to accomplish in my sobriety. I was lucky enough to know him from the beginning and I am very happy that I was able to work with him later in my stay. Having someone that I can always rely on when I am having a rough time that was only one call away was very relieving for me. I will stop talking now as I could go on forever saying amazing things about this place. Thank you Mountainside ❤️

Mario has been an absolute gift to our family. My husband has been doing sober coaching with Mario since he completed rehab at Mountainside. Mario keeps him accountable while fostering a strong relationship built on a foundation of trust. Mario keeps it real with both my husband and me with his humor and humility. He checks in with me weekly and reminds me his phone is always on for me. He approaches the difficult road of recovery with dignity for the client, compassion for the family, and respect for the process. He shares his own personal stories and experiences. Mario is deeply invested and loves what he does. I could not have gotten through these last few months without him, and my husband continues to make growth in this partnership. When my husband was having a hard time Mario drove across the state to meet with him in person. He is the definition of above and beyond with his dedication and kindness. I am so thankful for Mario and the impact he has had on my husband’s recovery as well as on me. While we are grateful for so many of the kind and dedicated people at Mountainside, Mario’s coaching has been the most impactful part of the journey.

New Canaan, CT | Located in New Canaan, Connecticut, Silver Hill Hospital is an alcohol and drug rehab facility that provides addiction treatment services. They also provide mental health treatment services. Their levels of care include residential, intensive outpatient, and transitional living accommodations. Silver Hill Hospital is a comprehensive treatment cente | Treatments Programs Payment Options | I’m here to lay down my 5-star review re: Rocky Marotta, M.D., PhD.. And to also give you ONE, single word of advice based on my experience with him. I met Dr. Rocco Marotta way back in 2012 when I was in my early thirties (yup! Still just a kid) and I knew nothing about effective mental health. Or, even life! At first, I thought I had all of the answers and still intended to do things MY way. (That may seem all too familiar to those who offered negative reviews re: Silver Hill Hospital & its physicians? All I can say to that is: “Stick around and keep coming!”) But it truly wasn’t long before my behavior began to change bc Rocky helped me to realize that MY way was, Uhmm, completely distorted and shall we say, not exactly working?! Knowing how brilliant the man actually is, I deeply respected him and slowly, things began to change for me. As they can indeed change for you! In fact, I had walked a very dark path until Rocky shined a great big light of HOPE onto me and my situation. Rocky has a tendency to take notes on all of his patients. I bet you didn’t know that. Yes he does. He takes notes, reads those notes and refers to those notes. That is CARING! But to further, he listens to what his patients have to say. He gets to know them, often times, better than they know themselves. Once you understand that- you can’t help but to start listening too. Get it? Makes sense? The man also makes critical recommendations… the kind which save lives. I’m here to tell you, he saved mine. Of this, I’m whole-heartedly convinced. Rocky not only saved my life- but at times like this, years later, when I reflect on myself…and HIM— I realize that he also helped me to save my SOUL. So if you’re reading this for yourself, or for someone you deeply love ~ let that SAME magic, that SAME hope and those same miracles happen for you and/or them. “How?” you ask? Well, it’s much more simple than you realize! All I had to do was listen. And I’m telling you that all you have to do is just that: Listen. Because these days, again, a decade and a half later… I no longer have the same stinkin’ roadblocks of mental illness obstructing my every path. I don’t suffer anymore. I don’t miss opportunities. I’m not depressed, or anxious, manic or, taking my life for granted. Nope. Not me. My life is balanced and joyful— and most of the time I’m helping someone else! (Can you even imagine?!) And WHO do I thank for this? Undoubtedly, Rocky & my Family (& Jo!) Without them, Lord only knows where I’d be. And I love and honor EACH of them for that. For never giving up on me. For letting me make mistakes. For loving me, too. Today, I’m an active, trusted, dedicated member of society (& even multiple Board Member!! lol) And YOU CAN DO IT ALL TOO. Whatever you want… Just not before you’re actually ready. I already told you HOW in this Review. Finally, I’m not at all surprised that Rocky Marotta founded the “Lodge” at Silver Hill for Neuropsychiatric Disorders. Or, that he’s now the Director of the Center for the Treatment and Study of Neuropsychiatric Disorders. Or that he uses the terms “HEALING” and/or “HEALED!” Or that he’s even the former Medical Director of Silver Hill Hospital Because, quite frankly, he’s just that good! That excellent! So remember this, the next time you’re feeling hopeless or symptomatic. That these are the types of physicians (ie. *Dr. Matthew Griepp, Dr. Rocky, etc etc) which make up Silver Hill Hospital and who are available to you. Just learn to listen … don’t over complicate things and watch your entire life change. Thanks and good luck, ADL.

We all have different needs and I can't tell you that Silver Hill is going to solve all your problems. If you are thinking about going here, Silver Hill did "save my life" as all the other reviews say.
I wasn't well for a long time and was controlled by my depression for seven and a half years. I thought nothing would help and have had traumatic experiences in the hospital before.
When I heard the word "hospital", I panicked, but I wasn't safe and needed support. When I actually got there, I found community, I was given strategies to live, I got on the right medication (finally), I took up hobbies again, and I was able to feel again instead of be in that empty void.
It's been a year now and while I'm still processing trauma, I am happy. I control my life and I hope you can find that too.

Don’t overlook, this is an overall terrific hospital even if you have to travel to get here.
I was at Silver Hill for many months and experienced The Triumph Program and ACU adult inpatient (scroll for ACU). When I went to the Triumph Program at Barrett House and it was a life changing experience in the best way. The Barrett RCs (staff who are at the house) are very friendly and helpful and give skills coaching to any resident when needed. The Barrett clinicians are amazing, they are so knowledgeable, supportive, kind, understanding and give the pushes to do the hard things that help you grow. Dr. Haas is incredibly smart and an expert at what she does, I was actually flabbergasted at some moments when she could tell what was going on when I didn’t fully. The weekday groups are on a 6 week rotation and even though I went through the rotation multiple times I still felt like I learned something new and had a different takeaway each time. The Barrett House is very nice and the large hospital campus is great to walk around. There were good vibes at the house and it was often agreed upon by the group that this was such a unique space where we could understand each other in ways other people can’t and how wonderful it was to have that community.
The one and probably only issue I had was the food services for the hospital. At Barrett (started during the time I was there) everyone eats at the house family style for all meals. For those with dietary restrictions or accommodations, a menu was filled out for each day of the week with the foods on the “always available menu”, issue being many times they won’t send what you asked for if it had specific details (that could be accommodated) and for the food platters for the whole house often where missing items of food. When I was leaving there seemed to be efforts going to fix these issues however it didn’t happen while I was there.
The ACU does not apply to the 5 stars. I would give it probably a 3 star. The actual unit is outdated making it very hot in the summertime and the food area which is in the same room as the common space is quite tight. That room is pretty much the only place to socialize besides a small room with a tv. Many of the floor staff (the psych techs) were really trying their best to help patients but some I wondered why they chose this job. The RNs were helpful and doing their best to alleviate patients problems. It can be a hard place to be at times but that’s the nature of an inpatient unit and overall I would say it is one of better I’ve been to in comparison to many others.
I would recommend this hospital to anyone who asked

MCCA new milford has helped me so much in so many aspects of my life. I personally would have never signed myself up for the IOP classes but im glad court mandated me to take them after I got pulled over drunk. Sue is such an amazing counselor and makes you feel comfortable to be able to talk about my issues and be able to work on them. I am a very stubborn person and she helped me realize that some of the things were not right. I still continue to see her once a month even after my program was done. I have recommended a few friends to go see her at MCCA because it could help them better their life and battle with issues just like it happened to me.

My class was court ordered, but it has almost been a blessing in disguise. I’ve learned so much, even though the curriculum they have to read out of and engage with the class, is a bit outdated, Alyssa and Sue still manage to bring the topics up to date to help you relate and retain. Sue, Alyssa and Jess…some of the most compassionate and understanding people you could ever ask and hope for going through this life choice of committing to better not only your health, your mental health. You’re with so many great people. Everyone conquering and learning about themselves and each other together. Hearing that you’re truly not alone, really is a powerful part of healing.
My time with MCCA may not have been by my choice, but I am grateful for the tools and personal will power it has given me to be the better version of myself. Sober.

Bridgeport, CT | Midwestern Connecticut Council of Alcoholism (MCCA) has been helping folks in western Connecticut overcome substance use challenges for over 50 years. This location in Bridgeport, Connecticut is among their seven outpatient clinics. Those struggling with dually diagnosed mental health and substance use conditions are provided the support they need | Treatments Programs Payment Options | After attending MCCA for an entire year, I can honestly say what an amazing and supportive program Director Laura Boff , the clinicians, and the staff have created within an underserved community like Bridgeport.
The team at MCCA has taken the time to educate themselves and genuinely welcome the community they serve in an authentic and compassionate way.
I am one of many clients who have received services through MCCA, and I can proudly speak to the support, understanding, and care they provide. Every session truly felt like being part of a supportive community. The stigma surrounding programs like MCCA is completely inaccurate because instead, I found a space where I felt welcomed, protected, and understood.
Not only did they provide me with the support I needed throughout my recovery journey, but they also provided me and others with valuable resources and tools to continue moving forward in life.
Thank you to MCCA for going above and beyond during my time there, and a very special thank you to Laura for believing in me and encouraging me every step of the way.

I was provided with great care no matter the time of day or night. My family therapist moe, helped my parent and I start to grow a relationship I never thought id have. My CC's were amazing people! Its really hard to go into residential knowing you wont be home for a long time, but all of my staff made it so much easier and fun. It makes a big difference when your staff and treatment team can have fun and want to be there with all of you so thank you guys for that! The food i will say i struggled with. It wasn't the best tasting or most diverse menu but some days it was pretty good. All of the teachers at Newport are amazing. They make learning fun and relaxed while also still encouraging you to get your work done. My experience was absolutely amazing. I was in the Mustang pod, October 25 (2023) - January 7 (2024). I was previously at a rehab in Minnesota and it was a unanimous decision that I needed more treatment. From the very first day I got there everyone was so welcoming, kind and accepting. I have severe allergies to egg and peanut so that also gives me really bad food anxiety. The nutritionist there was so so helpful and made sure I always had a fulfilling meal, from Breakfast to evening snack to the food I have to eat before breakfast (meds). Since I was in the substance abuse pod, we were able to go off site to NA/AA meetings. That helped me immensely. Kayla and Lisa the counselors for this pod are literally heaven sent. I love them so much and never made anything I talked about feel embarrassing or stupid. All the activities we had throughout the day like Gong, Equine, Music therapy, Tea making, Yoga, Gym, Nutrition, Adventure (S/O J.D), Art, Alumni, MMA (Love Vince, he's awesome.), and others I probably forgot to mention. For school, the teachers I had helped me a lot and made sure I was caught up and beyond where I needed to be in order to pass my sophomore year. (Ayeeee shout out Chris) There was quite a bit of drama, but nothing intolerable. The only thing I really disliked was how immature some of the staff was, making some people in my house (Dove) feel invalidated etc. That obviously isn't something that changed how my entire experience was but i was also one of those people they didn't 'like' for a little bit. I think they need to be more mindful when choosing who to hire. When we just have chill time in between activities, the CC's were so fun and easy to talk to. They all had such a huge impact on my stay. And the cooks!!! Holy crap. They kept me feeling included 3x a day every single day. When we had continental breakfast, they would make me egg free muffins, or the French toast bake egg free. And when it was something I just didn't like, I was able to eat a Sun butter and Jelly, Pasta, or cereal. I never went to bed or woke up hungry, unlike my other experience elsewhere. Overall it was such an eye opening experience and forever changed my life for the better. Also they did an amazing job administrating my Vivitrol injection monthly. One of the CC'S would go in there with me and hold my hand and talk to me. I'm sober to this day, (2 years coming up!!) Reading these reviews makes me upset, because in these programs you have to want to get better. You have to try and if you don't you're going to have a bad experience. It sucks at first, I would literally cry every week before, during, and after family therapy, but it's not because the therapist is bad. These 1 star reviews are solely personal. It has nothing to do with the staff. They're simply doing their job and making sure you are putting in the work to get better. Its not supposed to be fun. But if you put the hard stuff aside and focus on petting the horses, or making your tea bags when it's that time, you will find it to be tolerable. A good attitude = good outcomes.
ANYWAYS if an actual human is reading this tell everyone I said sup

After years of trying everything we could think of, my wife and I finally found Westport House. Our son was admitted quickly and efficiently, and, from that point on, our experience was incredible. After a couple of months we saw a noticeable change in our son. The staff was very timely in their correspondence with us and always treated us appropriately. During his time there, our son became actively involved in Alcoholics Anonymous, obtained employment, and began treating us and others with a level of respect we did not know he was capable of. He stayed there for 7 months, and I can say, it was very much worth every penny. Our son is still sober today and continues to attend the AA meetings that he went to during his time at Westport House. We cannot thank Westport House enough for giving us our son back. After 7 painful years, the change that he was able to make in his life is incredible, and it is all thanks to the great staff and services at Westport House.

I’ve been going to the West Haven VA for a while now and honestly it’s always been a great experience. My appointments are always on time, the doctors take the time to explain everything clearly, and the nurses and staff are professional, polite, and genuinely helpful every single time. Can’t ask for much more than that.

I am a US Navy veteran. Of course I go to the VA. This is the most top-notch hospital in the state of Connecticut. By far I am blessed to be looked at here by all the nurses and doctors. And of course when I walk the hallways there are many many heroes

This program was an eye-opener. It didn't just tell me 'don't drink,' but actually taught me practical skills to handle peer pressure and manage stress without relying on alcohol. The focus on setting personal goals and understanding my own triggers was incredibly empowering. I feel much more confident in making healthier choices for my future. The staff go above and beyond to ensure the safety and well-being of not just myself, but all participants. They are currently a staple in my life and I would not have it any other way. I cannot thank this group of individuals enough for helping me get myself back.

Sincerely grateful for Mr. Aprame, having recently experienced a male trauma that was belittled and laughed at by Jane Sadawski as if my suffering made her happy, so I reported her to the director and requested a male therapist rather than anyone random, Mr Aprame was above and beyond helpful, 😊 Sincerely grateful 🙏
