On the north side of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, Nova Counseling Services is a residential rehab center. The center admits men 18 and older, and the residential stay runs 30 days.

Nova Counseling is a substance abuse treatment facility in Oshkosh, WI. The counselors are moderately above average in competence, with Annie and Rebecca personally noted as standouts in their respective practices. Clients are started with a 30 day inpatient rehabilitation stay, with the potential of a 90 day program based on availability and if they are seen as a good fit via an interview process by staff. Overall, I would rate the services and accommodations as average to slightly above average. One extremely important thing to note is my personal experience with my individual counselor, Greg Obermeier. Greg was great with our first consultation. He had high interest in my alcohol abuse history and we found common ground with personal interests, both of which made me feel as if he'd be of great help to me. As time passed, there were several things I noticed with Greg's behavior that I found concerning. I felt his approach with me to start was very professional and at the same time he treated me as an equal. Someone that was seeking professional help, and I gave him all my trust. Over time, I saw another side of him. Greg began insisting that I thought "I knew everything, and that I was smarter than him". This thought process was completely unfounded, as Greg is the one with the educational background and decades of experience with substance abuse counseling. I was just somebody seeking help with this drug that was starting to unwind everything in life I worked hard for. Furthermore, during a family therapy session when my parents and two sisters came in to share how my disease has taken a toll on their personal lives, I had what I would consider a relatively minor traumatic experience when my father was sharing. Because I had an emotional barrier / wall up, I was very unable to be vulnerable during this session. My dad was shedding tears, and Greg insisted that I repeat "I don't give a shit" after every sentence my dad spoke. I politely declined to say such words to him. Greg continued on as he always did with his superiority complex grin cautiously displayed. I have a few other complaints about the professional approach to treatment. It was difficult being put in an intense bubble for 30 days with little access to the outside world other than a pay phone that cost $0.50 per use, and access to our cell phones only for paying bills, legal issues, or emergency situations. There was no reading allowed, unless it was related to substance abuse, and the days ran from 8AM-8PM Monday-Friday and shortened hours on the weekends. This led to burnout about halfway through my 30 days. After completion of my 30 days (don't remind me about being treated as a subservant regarding my departure time and receiving a completion token as if my process was incomplete without getting a gold colored coin). Overall, I would recommend this place if it is your only option in the area. The staff do seem to care and I did attain many tools that I use in my sobriety journey. Do more research if you have the financial ability and time to find a more highly touted facility.
