MY SON WITH AUTISM IS 37 YEARS OLD AND WAS PUT ON THE STREET BY THE CRISIS CENTER, SINCE HE WAS REMOVED FROM HIS GROUP HOME IT WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF WINTER AND THE TEMPERATURES WERE FREEZING AT NIGHT AND HAD NO PLACE TO GO HE WENT TO THE POLICE STATION FOR HELP, AND THE POLICE BROUGHT HIM TO THE UNION GOSPEL MISSION, WHERE HE COULD STAY FOR 5 DAYS, BEFORE WE COULD FIND A MENTAL FACILITY THAT COULD HELP HIM, SINCE OREGON HAS HARDLY ANY HELP FOE MENTALLY HANDICAPPED PEOPLE. THEY GLADLY TOOK HIM AND HE GOT FOOD ASND SHELTER UNTIL WE COULD GET HIM THE HELP HE NEEDED

Some of the staffing I don't agree with how they treat individuals, but on the other hand there are some staff in there who truly care and respect the clients. Two individuals In particular Rick is very kind and understanding and helpful in setting up your first day and I think his name is Alex, he's gotta a Golden character and always an uplifting spirit. I'm grateful for the short time I spent there and look forward to seeing the program change many lives:)

Inpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. You will get screamed at and talked down to by a majority of the staff, who have little compassion for, or understanding of, people who disagree with them or are otherwise having a difficult time. People with psychological issues are allowed to come onto the property and harass residents and staff will do nothing. For a facility run by a religious organization, UGM and it's staff exhibit a major un-christlike attitude. If you have low tolerance for B.S., avoid this place at all costs.

There are some good staff then there are others who don't care and will kick people out with out finding a solution for them and sometimes scream at them. They will also call the cops for Anything to kick people out who are just seeking help. Plus NEVER leave your belongings here, most likely it will get stolen. Seems like the have no security for other people's stuff. Human shit will occasionally be found around the property too.

Salem's fanciest trap house, right across the street and overlooked by the police. Careful you might wake up and get your skull fractured mysteriously and they cover it up. Offers enablement services but please don't actually expect help.
