The team offers phased addiction services, ASAM assessments and high risk medication management alongside family medicine, delivered by a small staff of medical and counseling professionals.

Their integrated model brings medical and recovery care together under one roof, helping patients address substance use and overall health in a single, community focused setting.

Phased Outpatient Addiction Recovery

Addiction recovery is at the heart of this practice, with structured Phase I, Phase II and Phase III services designed to support patients through each stage of their journey.

The team also provides ASAM assessments to guide personalized care and match treatment to individual needs.

Working with both a physician and counseling staff, patients benefit from an integrated approach that pairs medical oversight with ongoing recovery support.

This coordinated model makes it easier to manage medications, monitor progress and address the underlying factors that contribute to substance use.

Chronic Pain Care

Beyond addiction services, the practice focuses on chronic pain management and high risk medication management, an especially relevant combination for patients navigating overlapping pain and substance use concerns.

Direct primary care memberships give patients frequent access to their care team through phone, text and email, in person visits and video chat.

Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

Clients who wish to remain in their homes while in recovery may elect to enroll in an outpatient rehab, many of which offer evening, night, and weekend services to accommodate clients' schedules. Most outpatient facilities provide multiple levels of care to align with clients' evolving needs, including partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) for clients who require robust support and supervision. Addiction counseling and recovery-focused life skills training are the most common treatment modalities.

I just had a "meet and greet" session with Dr. Helman for her direct primary care practice and ended our phone conversation at just after the 7 minute mark as it was made clear that we were not going to be a good match. During the first part of what she talked to me about, she mentioned that there are people who view health care as a human right, and asked (rhetorically) why people feel they have a right to her time, her education, her expertise. Meaning that she wholeheartedly believes that health care is NOT a basic human right. I continued on in the conversation, hoping I had misheard or misunderstood. I proceeded to talk about needing a specific prescription filled that most PCPs won't touch, and explained how I had worked with a prescriber for a number of years to get things where they need to be, so all that is needed is a prescription (as in, no need to trial and error strengths and dosages). She proceeded to discredit my experience (which I have gained both by experiencing it myself on multiple occasions and by having worked professionally with mental health prescribers and watched time and time again as PCPs refused to take over this prescription for others). She then proceeded to point out my use of the word "prescriber," saying that she assumes that means a mental health nurse practitioner, and that she always likes it when folk are able to see a "real doctor" for these things. After she doubled down on her being a "real doctor" I politely informed her that this is not going to be a good fit, to please keep the "welcome meeting" fee I had paid as I recognize I had taken up some of her time. As a cherry on top, she was roughly 15 minutes late to our appointment, having not even arrived at the office before our scheduled time. Normally, I'm happy to look past this - doctors are people too and things happen. But if she feels like folk aren't entitled to HER time/education/etc, then she shouldn't feel entitled to waste mine either. To note - these are not exact and direct quotes, but they are as close as I'm able to make them.
