About Walden House Inc

Walden House Care Facility provides behavioral health and substance use disorder treatment for adults in San Francisco, California. Their programs include medication assisted treatment, gender-specific residential treatment and outpatient treatment that incorporates evidence based practices within a therapeutic environment. Specialized services are available for clients with co-occurring conditions and clients with HIV/AIDS.

Their MAT services allow clients to safely withdraw from opioids, alcohol, and other substances under medical supervision. As required, providers can administer FDA-approved addiction medications to improve client comfort, minimize drug cravings, and mitigate the risk of relapse. In addition to medication, clients will also receive comprehensive medical, psychiatric, and behavioral counseling. By combining medication with mental health treatment, a greater chance of success is achieved for long term abstinence.

The Men’s Residential Program addresses addiction and related issues, increases skills, and helps clients learn how to manage stressors. Case management is provided, helping make linkages to outside resources that will help foster continued recovery. This may include employment, education, housing, training, addiction support groups, and help with basic needs. The residential treatment program also provides referrals for medical and mental health support as needed.

The Outpatient Program at Walden House Care Facility is for those who struggle with substance use disorders, mental health issues, or co-occurring disorders. This program also works with high risk populations from various backgrounds. The services include integrated mental health services, medication management, case management, individual and group therapy, primary medical care, elective chronic disease management, specialized services for women, family advocacy and reunification, parolee services, workforce development, and housing resources and referrals. A care coordinator will support the process of creating an individual treatment plan that lasts for an average of 90 days.

Walden House Care Facility may accept most forms of commercial insurance, including Aetna, United Healthcare, BlueCross/BlueShield, Anthem, Cigna, and others. Ask your individual provider to verify your coverage because out of network benefits can vary.

Called us for emergency drain service in Dec 2022 to which we showed up within an hour, fixed the problem, and then got stiffed on the bill. From one business to another that is just uncalled for. My review wouldn't even be one star but google won't allow zero star reviews.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.
