About Behavioral Medicine Associates

Better known for its checkered history with unidentified flying objects, Roswell, New Mexico, is also home to Behavioral Medicine Associates, an outpatient treatment facility that helps support individuals struggling with addiction or co-occurring mental health struggles. Their services are offered through targeted, individualized treatment tracks and are rooted in a mixture of evidence based practices and holistic support.

The services are covered by most major insurance providers, as well as Medicaid and military insurance benefits like TRICARE. Additionally, they accept Access to Recovery vouchers, which are available for individuals who are struggling with addiction but face challenges with the cost of care.

Personalized Recovery Programming

The treatment tracks here are hyper individualized, and the care team applies relevant, developmentally appropriate, and age appropriate treatment modalities to the adults, children, and adolescents served here. As you move through treatment, your treatment plan will be adjusted as needed, and other interventions or approaches will be woven in if there are other issues at play. This might include things like coexisting mental health troubles or relational issues with family and other loved ones.

Laid Back Recovery Environment

There’s a strong sense of getting to know you here, and you’ll find that the recovery atmosphere is more laid back than you would expect in a traditional clinical setting.

Many past clients appreciate how the medical providers here offer a really supportive and compassionate approach to treatment. Others, however, say that the laid back environment has caused issues with scheduling, such as punctuality or professionalism with appointments. Overall, however, this center appears to do a really good job creating an environment where it’s easier for you to let down your guard as you pursue treatment.

I've had three appointments and every single time the staff is late and my appointment starts 30 minutes to an hour late. Why they are scheduling multiple appointments with the same therapist at the same time is beyond me. Doesn't seem very organized or that the patient's time is held at a valuable level.

Therapist was late for my appointment! Are you kidding me, so unprofessional. If I’m late they charge me.

Would not recommend seeing the psychologists here or seeking help for mental health. Go find perfessional help elsewhere.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Treatments

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Came in for reevaluation of daughters learning disabilities. She’s been diagnosed since 1st grade, in 8th now. He couldn’t find signs of learning disability even though she tested 4 grade levels below! Waste of time and money, don’t bother!
