About Born Free Primary Residential of Jackson

Born Free Primary Residential of Jackson is a women only residential addiction treatment program in Jackson, Mississippi. The facility focuses on serving pregnant and postpartum women, offering long term residential care and partial hospitalization programming for substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders.

Born Free creates a family centered recovery setting where mothers can work toward healing while continuing their parenting responsibilities. Support services are structured to address both recovery and overall life stability.

Residential Treatment for Pregnant and Parenting Women

Born Free specializes in residential addiction care tailored to the needs of pregnant, postpartum and parenting women. One distinguishing feature of the program is that mothers may bring their young children to live with them during treatment. This approach supports family preservation and removes a common barrier to entering care.

Treatment incorporates cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, 12 step principles and trauma focused counseling. Services are delivered through individual therapy, group therapy and family therapy.

Comprehensive Wraparound Services and Dual Diagnosis Care

Care plans address trauma histories, co occurring mental health conditions and the day to day realities of parenting while in recovery. Relapse prevention skills are emphasized throughout the program. Ongoing recovery support may continue for up to one year after program completion, helping women maintain stability as they transition back into the community.

In addition to clinical services, Born Free provides case management and a range of supportive resources.   By addressing practical needs alongside treatment, the program aims to reduce obstacles that can interfere with long term recovery.

Treatment for People with Complex Trauma History

The facility serves women with co-occurring disorders and complex trauma histories. This includes individuals who have experienced domestic violence or sexual abuse. Specialized resources are available for women managing HIV and other medical conditions. Integrating medical, emotional and social support allows for a more coordinated recovery experience.

The facility works with private insurance plans, including BCBS of Mississippi, Aetna, UnitedHealthcare, and Humana. Medicare, Medicaid, and TRICARE are also accepted. Sliding scale arrangements and payment assistance options may be available to eligible individuals. Verifying coverage directly with the program and your insurance provider is recommended to confirm specific benefits.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don’t require 24-hour care. PHPs have structured programming (i.e. individual and/or group therapy), and usually meet 3-5 days a week for around 6 hours (i.e. 9am-3m). Some PHPs are residential (patients sleep on site) and some are not, so patients sleep at home. PHPs can last from 1-6 months, and some offer transportation and meals.
