Please listen to the reviews of the children that have gone here. The parents are not allowed to view the groups so they have no idea how things are during groups. The only contact the parents have is with the therapist and maybe a couple facilitators, who all believe every child is a liar and manipulator first. I struggled with the staff believing the parents over the kid immediately, when a lot of these kids are quite literally sent to this place due to mental illness caused abusive parents that manipulate, and neglectful home lives. This facility is for the parents, not the kids they serve. I went to Journey for 4 months, and by then I had then asked to stop going because nothing is ever done about the clique-yness and low-key bullying. I experienced very little interaction with the group I was in because I felt extremely left out while in a vulnerable state. We were not allowed to speak about friendships from outside the facility, which is a huge concern especially for later teens. Not being allowed to talk about certain issues and being heavily censored does not promote an open conversation where I was comfortable enough to speak up. During this time I was extremely withdrawn due to home issues and being put on meds that didn’t work for me, but I was never encouraged to participate to any degree so I thought nobody wanted me there. I was kind of thrown to the side and forgotten about because I was deemed “weird” by the other kids, similarly to my experience in school which was highly traumatic. Kevin went along with this and I felt really left out. I would sit under the table all day because I was too scared to talk to the rest of the group due to how I was being talked about and picked on with side comments behind my back. There were group chats with only certain members of the group. I expressed this to my therapist and she just told me to “just put myself out there more” as if that wasn’t literally what I was struggling to do because of the treatment I got by others that nothing was done about. Whenever my parent was contacted, they would share ALL details I asked them not to share with my parent that my parent just didn’t need to know, like things I was still preparing to tell them. They told my parent that I was thinking of changing my preferred name without my consent, or knowledge that they even took note of that because that was not said during group but just on a worksheet. My mental health issues got way worse while I went here due to the “parents first” mentality that seems to run through ever staff member in the place. On the one singular bright side, I met my now fiance here. So aside from the worsening mental health issues, I did at least get one single positive thing from my experience! Sadly, it has nothing to do with the place itself so I can’t give a star for that. Oh well.

I currently go here, I was in group 2 (teens) for three months before moving into group 1 (littles) and my first experience in the teen group, it wasn't great, kids make fun of others and Kevin did nothing. Kids in the littles group were inappropriate, and nasty, although the group facilitator did well with me changing my name to *name*, they don't do much for mental health, littles group was mainly for anger issues. I was moved back into tennis group last month, and I can't say anything about what I do or else I'll get points taken away, I can't talk about friends I have outside of there, I get told "there not here, don't talk about them" and my friend for over 7 years was put in journey, and I'm not allowed to hangout with her outside of there. And in group 2 they disrespect me,( everyone) Kevin constantly picks people's problems out too. And they use my dead name and the wrong pronouns all the time for me. And the fact we never get off, we got Christmas and Christmas day off for winter break, when for school we had 2 weeks off. I've been there 7 MONTHS and I only go to school 2 days a week. I never have time to do anything due to me living 1 hr away from journey when there's one literally 30 mins away from where I live. And they get mad at me for not bringing food for lunch when my mom only gets less then $200 food stamps, while she has 3 kids 2 teens, 1 little. Overall this place is a 0 star, and should be shut down.

Accepted Insurance

Please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Northwest Counseling – Journey Stevens Point works with several private insurance providers, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Addiction Treatments

Treatments

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

They have not offered any kind of real treatment for my daughter. I'm currently looking for someplace else to send her because I've felt this has been a waste of time.

Im only giving this ace one star so i can talk about this, otherwise it would be 0. During my time here I was called a girl and my dead name was exposed to everyone on “accident” yet it kept happening, and I learned that staff use my dead name constantly behind my back. The group facilitator Kevin is very problematic, and i think everyone from when i was there can agree. He would point out ‘problems’ he sees with feminine bodies wearing feminine things, especially when its skirts. He would make self harm jokes too, i don't know if it was to ‘fit in’ or something but it made us uncomfortable. And he told one of my peers multiple different times that their self harm was attention based, which isn’t okay at all. People weren’t allowed to speak out on religious trauma, because he let his Christianity stop himself from allowing us to say anything bad about it. Any talk about relationships and all he would do is tell is it’s probably toxic or going to end up toxic, and any bit of talk on us missing our partner and he would all us unhealthy. We where criticized on mostly everything we talked about and did, and I felt dehumanized. I personally feel Kevin should not have his job there, I know he has had it for a while but I think it’s time for someone who will at least try to sound sympathetic. Seriously get rid of him or the whole facility, he had dragged its name.
