This place is garbage. While receiving therapy sessions staff from other departments laugh and carry on outside the office door. The men attending their uninsured drop-in program and aggressive and territorial and your safety is at risk taking public transportation to the clinic. Nearly every time I went the police were there. My 8 year old recently started seeing a different therapist who has been excellent as well. It can be hard to find the right therapist on the first try but both of us were able to! March 25 I will have been clean for 2 years. I have been to many clinics and never have come this far! If I have a problem I get dealt with usually that day and with addiction being fast and efficient can be life or death. I think Dr. Harkin has tried hard to make his clinic a better the typical methadone clinics and I think he’s done amazing job! Not one of the other clinics in Madison can you walk into and say I’m struggling can I please talk to the doctor, not one of them will you be able to do that but at ASAP you can and that’s enough for me that right there is what it should be! When we walk in there in the morning sometimes all we need is someone to say hi , how are u doing with a smile on their face and that’s enough to change that day!! I’m so grateful for my second chance at life….well let’s keep it real more like 100th chance at life!! Lol but I think I got it this time and that’s thanks to dr. Harkin and he’s amazing staff!!

Dr Harkin, is great he is truly compassionate for his patient's. I have only been to one other clinic and they just treat you like a number, they treat you with respect at ASAP and they don't judge. It seems like everyone likes Dr Harkin, you will even find him out in the parking lot from time to time giving fist bumps to his patient's and asking them how they are doing.

Most of these photos of the clinic on the Google search ain't even the Green Bay building. May be of another location. This clinic saved my life. Plain & simple. There's always gonna be downfalls to every solution - you're never gonna get a perfect remedy...however, the downfalls are worth the outcome. Anything is better than living as a slave to opiates. Addiction doesn't discriminate...it'll get anyone of any age, race, background, etc. Demographics don't matter. So don't judge those who are seeking treatment. Be happy they're getting help. Also, don't assume everyone that attends these clinics are low-life criminals. We have all walks of Life come here for treatment. Nurses, veterans, business men/women, & even grandfathers/grandmothers. People you wouldn't think would be in this situation. We even have patients who were on pain meds for cancer & other severe medical conditions prescribed by their doctor -- only to be left in the dust with a physical addiction to those medications. Addiction isn't always mental or psychological. If you're battling addiction yourself & have failed other typical treatments - Medication Assisted Treatment may be the answer. I do believe it should be used only after failing the other traditional methods.

I wanted to say thank you for making me feel important. Not just a "number" but a person who is working on my recovery. Nicole, you are one of the most amazing counselors I've ever had. And even when transferring clinics to another city 2 hours away, you did everything you could to make it easy for me. When i went to guest dose/potentially future transfer to ctc madison east, you guys did the best you could to help me do that. That other clinic made it as difficult as possible for you guys and you still pulled through to make sure i was able to dose. I'm super grateful. Thank you. And nicole- as i said, you are amazing. Congrats on your journey as well. don't stop being you. Ever. you pushed me and made me believe in myself at times i didn't. thank you

[Outpatient~ Rhinelander 5-Stars], [Inpatient~ 3-Stars] (Ask for a transfer if possible). The outpatient is outstanding, taking into account this isn't some big-city slaughterhouse where the doctors are threatened with Bull S* . Here, the doctors, therapists, nurses, and staff enjoy their job, and this makes a huge impact on a patient's health.// The inpatient unit gets 3-stars only on merit where this is not a big-city circus. The doctors are withdrawn into a fantasy of how to make appeals to courts and testify the best they can about all the reason's there is a problem. You're not very likely to be committed per se, but you'll most likely need to agree to conditions in order to be released from the hospital. When the first ordeal is over with, the care is much better if you're required to stay a bit longer in the hospital before they stabilize you. Also remember there has never been a 5-star inpatient unit. The U.S. is swamped with mental health needs and are short staffed to meet the demands. Good Job Aspirus.

I stayed at Hope Haven a few months ago. It's a smaller home like environment. The treatment schedule is pretty relaxed, you'll have some downtime especially on weekends. Most staff were great, some not too much but that's how it is everywhere. You get to go to the YMCA twice a week and also have fun fridays like bowling. You are also able to attend outside meetings. The food is great, the coach there cares about people and makes tons of extras. They also have art therapy and yoga twice a week. Overall it was a good experience. The downsides were having to walk a long ways to smoke, and not getting very many times to do so. Also it's nice in some ways that it's co ed, but some guys there definitely were more interested in chasing girls than recovery, which can hurt the dynamic. The chores aren't really distributed evenly, and some of the overnight crew also seemed more interested in the females there than doing their job well.
