Southwest Florida Counseling Center in Port Charlotte, Florida is now Elite DNA Behavioral Health. They provide a wide array of services for mental health, behavioral health and addiction treatment. They are an outpatient only facility and do not offer inpatient or residential detox.
The organization does provide medication management services for mental health and addiction treatment medications on an outpatient basis. They have services for all ages with treatment for childhood disorders, parenting and relationship issues and developmental challenges. Health insurance is accepted, but there is a self-pay option for those without coverage.
Convenient Trauma-Based Counseling
Healing from trauma is a focal point for addiction recovery and is treated through Traumatic Incident Reduction, EMDR and other specialized treatment modules. The facility’s services are available in person or through virtual appointments.
Individual treatment action plans are created at the beginning of therapy so there is a clear direction and set of therapeutic personal goals for the client to work towards. Setting these goals allows the individual to see and mark progress in therapy as well. It isn’t just about stopping addictive behavior such as drinking, it is about developing positive habits and behaviors to improve your quality of life.
Additional Treatment Services
Treatment isn’t just about psychiatry here as they offer speech and occupational therapy, applied behavior therapy and other therapies for developmental, cognitive, and neurodevelopmental challenges and conditions. There are also specialized services such as TMS therapy to treat depression.
Outdoor Activities To Support Recovery
There are several great parks and nature trails nearby to walk and enjoy outdoor activities. The Port Charlotte Beach Park has picnic areas, places to fish, man made beaches and even a heated swimming pool. It’s important to find recreational activities to enjoy to support your long-term sobriety.

They care about your mental health so much, they discharge you from their load without providing an appropriate reason, because then that gets into a “therapeutical session.”
I had been a patient here for years, and until most recently it has been hell trying to keep an appointment. First I wasn’t getting my text messages for my appointments, which I needed in order to access zoom sessions because in person sessions were not provided, so after several time asking them to email them to me, they finally did, and when I tried to log in, I needed a code text messaged which never came through, so I spent an hour calling, trying to reach someone for my session with no answers, and when someone did pick up, I was hung up on. Finally I reached someone from their other office and explained my situation, to which a manager called me back, but they appeared more concerned at me cussing (not directed at anyone) than the difficulties I’ve been having with their office. I was also told I would be getting a call back and nothing ever came of it, no call back, they didn’t even try and make an effort to resolve the issue.
Now, my recent therapist told me she had seen me come such a long way in such a short period of time, to a switch so fast stating that she was worried about my mental health and that I need more help than she could provide, and was directed to other mental health services outside eliteDNA without a reasonable explanation. Not switched to another therapist, basically told that eliteDNA was dropping me with no actual good explanation. They didn’t even bother with making this right. They failed a patient and rather than do better they dropped me.
I used to recommend eliteDNA to everyone but now, I will be warning people how they really treat patients. If you want your mental health in good hands, this is not the place to get that anymore. Now I can see why so many of their best therapists keep leaving.

Levels of Care
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
Treatments
Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.
